The National University of Pilar, through the Faculty of Agriculture and Rural Development in its Research component and the LEBA laboratory, together with a group of professionals committed to the community and the environment, conducted this research on natural systems that absorb and store carbon dioxide (CO2) because of living with an ecosystem as particular and fragile as wetlands and the joint action of plants-water-soil that generate a kind of "sponge" that regulates the excess of CO2. The general objective of this research is to explain the importance of wetland flora in the process of CO2 storage, so that its destruction would cause an increase in global warming. For which Paso Pindó (1998/2017) and the lower basin of the Ñeembucú Stream (1995/2017) were taken as a research point. The study was based on measurements of CO2 and greenhouse gas ecosystem exchange.

The aim of this book is to study Leadership Based on Human Values. To do this, we will use knowledge of Coaching, NLP and Leadership as our basic tools. The larger vision is to use this study to reflect on the possibility of experiencing personal and professional fulfilment. To achieve this, we will develop concepts of a systemic vision and its relationship with leadership and people management, we will develop concepts of Coaching, NLP, Leadership and Human Realisation, and we will delve deeper into the relationship between leadership and human values, addressing self-responsibility, excellence, the pursuit of personal and professional quality, self-knowledge, emotional intelligence, multiple intelligences, spirituality and Personal and Professional Realisation. Our conclusion is that it is possible to live a more meaningful life through the development of personal and professional leadership, and that it is possible to cultivate more ethical values and a human society geared towards fulfilment.

This book is the product of scientific work that has been developed for several years in the field of Higher Education and Complex Thinking. It aims to articulate the diversity of knowledge and build new ways to think, train and educate according to the demands of the 21st century. Historical accounts show that the advent of colonialism and the growth of interaction between Europeans and Africans exponentially increased the interest of some Western anthropologists, historians and philosophers in explaining the reality of African societies. However, their interpretations were laden with subjective idealisations and pseudo-scientific stances that resulted in a prejudiced representation of African peoples and their worldviews. These writings continued to mark Western thinking about Africa, even after the formal end of colonisation. In other words, the prevailing thought was that Africans, their values and their cultural practices were incompatible with development and the preservation of human dignity, and that the involvement of the West was necessary to achieve the well-being of this continent. This underestimation of the intellectual and productive capacity of Africans was used as an ideological element to justify the annihilation of endogenous (African) organisational structures, in their multiple dimensions: economic, cultural, political and educational, in favour of exogenous (Western) organisational structures.

Technological advances in recent years have led to the development of a new generation of computer and telecoms networks, presenting major challenges and opening up attractive areas of research: Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). However, when it comes to battery and mobility management, there has been no such progress. Node energy constraints, low bandwidth, network mobility, packet loss and security are just some of the issues facing WSNs. In the latter, there is a need for secure routing protocols that meet the new needs of applications and at the same time take into account the limitations of this type of network.In this thesis, we focused on the problem of security in wireless sensor networks.

An aneurysm is by definition a persistent localised dilation of an artery, often caused by atherosclerosis. Correcting an aneurysm can prolong life by preventing other complications from occurring. In this respect, the surgical indication seeks to be prophylactic, assessing the risk/benefit of the procedure, and its decision depends on the transverse diameters of the aorta, the degree of expansion of the aneurysm sac, the shape and the affected segment. According to Silva (2008), the BENTALL procedure has proved to be very effective in the long-term treatment of diseases affecting the aortic root, as 87.17% of patients remained alive 10 years after the operation, 95% of whom were in good general condition without any signs of dyspnoea or limitations due to the surgery. This research was guided by Dr Marines Bertolo Peres, Specialist in Cardiology, who collected data on the surgical procedures carried out by Dr Esp Leonardo Lacava Lopes, Specialist in Cardiovascular Surgery, and his team, at the cardiology centre of the São Paulo Regional Hospital in Xanxerê, Santa Catarina, Brazil.

The dream of every teacher is to develop their professional practice with joy and, at the same time, to make their students enjoy learning. The first step is to understand the nature of playfulness, a superior property of human activity. And for this, nothing better than the study of its phylogeny (how playfulness evolved in the human species) and its ontogeny (its development in a particular human being). Therein lie the keys to derive pedagogical actions and didactic strategies in any field of teaching performance.

It is advisable to disseminate the benefits of using biodiesel in order to create ecological awareness among citizens about the environmental effects that occur with the use of common diesel, actions that should be focused mainly on students of specialties related to the automotive area, in order to promote initiatives for the proposal of ideas and solutions to reduce the effects of pollution by combustion produced by diesel as engine fuel. It is recommended to carry out a thorough analysis of the benefits of biofuels as elements that contribute to the reduction of polluting gas emissions in diesel engines. It is a priority to carry out studies aimed at determining the reduction of carbon in diesel engines, using biodiesel as fuel, which, due to its structural elements, favors an efficient burning, reducing the polluting effects caused by an inadequate burning of common diesel.

The plastic word. To ask oneself about the plastic of and in the word is a journey that must be made in order to reach a conclusion: what an idle question! The plastic in and of the word turns out to be a colossal obviousness; since, the word transforms and is transformed, is molded and molds, gives rise to creation and destruction, in the same way to existence, because it exists and is created and destroys. The word traverses reality, the world, things, the sublime, the grotesque, everything and nothingness. Its inherence with the world leads us to think precisely about its power. The word is the maker of the world: the world, things and man are connected through this living creature, which is not still, which changes. In fact, through it, slowness or vertiginousness is injected into reality. It produces hollowness or occupies it. The word assigns singularity to man, makes him as such, makes him a monster, humanizes him or bestializes him. What would the human being be without the word? The word is body, it is flesh... The word is man...

Nowadays, organisations require their staff to be trained in new technologies in order to simplify administrative and production processes; therefore, updating the functions contained in the job descriptions is a task that should not be left behind. The study presented here was carried out at the Universidad Veracruzana and with its administrative staff belonging to the State Union of Workers at the Service of the Universidad Veracruzana (SETSUV). The main objective is to show the relationship between the labour conflicts of the administrative staff within the University of Veracruz and the lack of updating of their job descriptions through a comparative study of some of their positions.

Aon. The pre-Hispanic dog of the Antilles is an excellent analysis, retrospective and at the same time updated of the available information about the coexistence of the so-called "mute dog" with the aboriginal populations of the Antilles; it is an archaeological study carried out from a regional perspective and an exhaustive bibliographic review. This endeavor marks the starting point for a new approach in the understanding of the man-dog relationship in the pre-Columbian Antilles. Its authors -Racso Fernández Ortega (Havana, 1957-), José Benito González Tendero (Havana 1966-), Divaldo Gutiérrez Calvache (Havana 1964-), and Juan Cuza Huart (Havana, 1928-2007)- have been extremely meticulous and have faced the analysis of the work of archeologists and scholars of the Caribbean geographic area, and of other latitudes, with the interest and scientific rigor required for these purposes, which results in an important source of critical information that enriches the polemic. Remarkable for archaeologists, zooarchaeologists and other specialists is his contribution in the clarification of some nebulae that subsist in this matter.

Today's society, perhaps more than ever before, requires Academic Humanism, as the formation of human persons sensitive to social and ecological injustice, a student who learns from critical thinking, which allows him to establish empathetic relationships with reality, without forgetting a concept, and its praxis, as important as it is: solidarity with the planet and all living beings that inhabit it.

Due to their characteristics of excellent linearity, high quality factor, absence of saturation and the losses typical of ferromagnetic cores, air-core inductors find numerous applications in various fields of electrical engineering. They are found in current limiters, damping networks in thyristorized converters, impedance equalizers, passive filters and for absorption of harmonic components, crossover networks in loudspeaker systems, etc. However, the absence of a ferromagnetic core of high permeability to contain the magnetic flux causes its dispersion. Thus, the inductance becomes a very complex function of the geometry, making it very difficult to design these components starting from the required value. Moreover, the information available in the specialized technical literature lacks a design approach. This paper presents a practical and easy-to-implement design routine, adapting it from the technical literature and supporting it with a practical example. The focus is limited to multilayer inductors with compact cylindrical coil development as they are the most commonly used.

The teaching-learning process of calculus in 5th grade is a prioritized objective in Primary Education, however, in the pedagogical practice it is revealed that, on numerous occasions, students present deficiencies in the development of this mathematical component. As a result of the difficulties detected, the present work was initiated, which proposes a system of exercises for 5th grade students in the development of calculation skills with decimal expressions. The research was based on theoretical methods such as: the analytical-synthetic, the inductive-deductive, the historical-logical, the systemic-structural approach, the transition from the abstract to the concrete and vice versa and modeling; on the empirical level: the pedagogical test, the observation, the interview, the documentary analysis; the experimental method in its pre-experiment variant and the mathematical-statistical methods used: the percentage calculation, graphs and tables. The scientific novelty consists of exercises graded by levels of cognitive performance, with an integral, contextualized and practical character based on the curricular adjustments of the grade, which contribute to development.

Nowadays, life has become longer and there are many prejudices and stereotypes regarding the elderly. Among other aspects, it is difficult for them to restructure their identity, they suffer discrimination, violence, social marginalization, ingratitude and difficulties due to scarce economic resources. This work includes two papers, one on the right to personal identity and the other on the right to work. In the first one, among other topics, the concept of person in the legal world and the right to legal personality, the dignity of the elderly and the charismas of old age are highlighted. It considers the most personal rights, and among them, the right to personal identity. Reference is made to the gender perspective and the reasons why it is not shared. In the second part, the main international recommendations and principles regarding the right to work of the elderly are mentioned and psychological harassment at work (mobbing) is analyzed. This book is of interest to lawyers, sociologists, human resources and policy specialists and the general public.

This book is the result of work carried out with Adventists to find out about their nutritional profile and eating habits. We would like to thank every Adventist member who volunteered to take part in this project. The authors are honoured to have done such a magnificent job, as they have carried out an in-depth investigation into the habitual diet of Adventists, in order to relate it to anthropometry. We are in an educational task in front of a population that is considered captive within the school institutions. They are accustomed to the freedom and autonomy they enjoy thanks to the potential of ubiquitous technologies. Contacts, information, procedural universe, media culture, cyber-anthropologies, multimediality and instantaneousness of feedback communication in poly and pluri-focal channels. Research questions arise: How do they construct identities from models that do not take into account their local coordinates (family, school, neighborhood, city, etc.) but assume them from a diversity of worlds formed by other languages and tongues, other citizen climates, other geographical imprints? How and why do the subjects of the app generation perceive themselves and stand up with certain characteristics that, in a certain founding way, tend to be glocal? With them, an ecosystem of subjectivities emerges with variables and variants that are not easily defined.

Toxicology is a science that encompasses fields such as biology, chemistry, physics, engineering and the environment. This book presents more than ninety articles on toxicity in aquatic organisms, international standards on the subject and a discussion of ways to measure suspended solids in water bodies. This book is aimed at toxicological studies without the use of chemical agents. Students and scientists in environmental fields can use this study as a reference.

The aim of this work was to study the viability of Sclerolobium paniculatum Vogel and Qualea grandiflora Mart wood for making charcoal with characteristics favourable for use in the steel industry. Seven trees of each species from the cerrado sensu strictu were used, from which 5 cm thick discs were removed at the base of the trunk of each individual, which was felled at ground level. Test specimens measuring 2.0 x 2.0 x 5.0 cm were taken from each disc, in the outer, middle and central portions. The variables assessed were: gravimetric yield, volatile material content, ash content and fixed carbon content in the charcoal. The results showed that Sclerolobium paniculatum Vogel and Qualea grandiflora Mart obtained gravimetric yields of 30 per cent and 26 per cent respectively. In addition, the quality of the charcoal from these species showed a volatile material content of 26 per cent and 21 per cent in the charcoal qualification. Near-infrared spectroscopy was used to predict the gravimetric yield, volatile material, ash and fixed carbon contents using the chemometric programme "The Unscrambler®".

An analysis of the current situation of the health service in the Maranhão State Penitentiary Complex showed that 25.6% of the services were not in line with the guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health/ ANVISA/ Brazil, which demonstrates the low quality of health care for individuals deprived of their liberty, as well as the need to improve the state's public health policy. This study highlights and offers the opportunity to intervene in the variables analysed that need attention from state managers, thus bringing the House of Correction closer to the precepts of dignity and health inherent to Brazilian citizens.

The work deals with an interesting and necessary subject related to the teaching of Cuban History and in particular with Local History. Chapter I deals with the theoretical references that support the deepening of knowledge of Local History in teachers in training. It also deals with the historical background of Cuban History and the insertion in it of the content of Local History; as well as the theoretical foundations that support the content of Local History in National History and refers to the methodological preparation of the teacher in training in the strengthening of the knowledge of Local History in Primary Education. Chapter II deals with the characterization of the initial state of the teachers in training in the knowledge of Local History; it addresses the foundations of the methodological actions aimed at deepening the contents of Local History and critically assesses the implementation of methodological actions.

This research is based on the use of teaching-learning strategies that the teacher develops with the students in the Dance elective of the eleventh grade and how they use them in the process of workshops given to students of early childhood and elementary school, so that they learn significantly the contents of the subject at the Alfonso López Michelsen School in Bogotá, Colombia, during the school year 2013-2014. The results showed that the head teacher and the workshop students use strategies to promote situated teaching such as: Problem Based Learning, Project Based Learning and Dance to develop artistic skills, body development, socio-affective relationships, problem solving that contribute to the significant learning of students by assuming the leading role in the project "Youth Teaches, Childhood Dances" to replace the absence of the Dance teacher in the initial and elementary school levels and strengthen the emphasis of the institution in Communication, Art and Expression.

This book is a research with stories of Mapuche women who tell their life stories about their cultural socialization process since childhood, how they develop their role as women within the Mapuche communities and their high degree of influence in the acceptance of the marital coexistence composed of two women and a man; In addition to knowing how the process of acculturation damages this form of family life based on bigamy and consequently the main difficulties that affected the Mapuche women who managed to live together in this family structure were made known and finally, the characteristics of the family dynamics that arise as a result of bigamy are made known. The present investigation fulfills the background of understanding the life of the Mapuche woman, for which seven interviews of life stories were carried out, in which the women tell their life experience, from their childhood to the present.

The above narration corresponds to the spoken portrait of Los mexicanos pintados por sí mismos, a literary work that reflects the customs and aspects of daily life in Mexican society in the mid-19th century, in which the social importance of midwives and their role in the assistance and care of pregnant and puerperal women can be observed, This shows how, despite the process of professionalization and institutionalization of health activities and their regulation as an exclusive task of medical specialists, initiated at the end of the eighteenth century, it was still the women of the "village" who were in charge of healing the sick, as mothers, grandmothers, midwives, weavers, bonesetters, and/or wet nurses; based on a social and gender role, which responded perfectly to their supposed "natural" condition of producers and reproducers of life.

The 2nd part "Iranian-speaking peoples" contains an article by Sh. S. Kamoliddin "On the origin of the ethnonym Tajik. Part 8", in which the information of the Hungarian traveler A. Vambery is considered. The 3rd part "Migrations" contains 3 articles by the Ukrainian scientist Ya. V. Pylypchuk, which traces the processes of ethnic history of Crimean Tatars, his deportation during the Stalinist repressions and return to Crimea after the collapse of the USSR: "Crimean Gothia. To the question of pre-Turkic history of mountainous Crimea", "How Crimea became Russian. Crimean Tatars from annexation to deportation" and "Crimean Tatars: from deportation to the second Russian annexation of Crimea". Part 4 "New Books" provides information about the 11th issue of the journal "Sogdian Collection".

Nonviolent Communication (NVC) helps to reformulate the way in which people express themselves and listen to each other during a negotiation dialogue, mainly through empathy. The contribution of NVC refers to redefining the conflictual relationship rather than simply looking for elements to resolve it in the area of negotiation in Public Organisations, providing an opportunity for joint reflection to resolve issues. It involves reflection with self-responsibility using empathetic communication skills. On the other hand, reading about organisations involved in Social Responsibility (SR) processes, we observed the possibilities of drawing attention to violent conflicts involving communication and the importance of providing an alternative treatment, in an approach based on the ethics of cordial reason. In this sense, it is assumed that CNV developed in the context of SR can promote solutions to social problems related to conflicts, minimising the problem of violence. The relevance of the study lies in the fact that it reveals the need to rethink new forms of communication, which consider empathy as a way of engaging in dialogue, although this requires the involvement and commitment of everyone who works in the organisation.

COVID-19, caused by SARS-CoV2, has resulted in considerable morbidity and mortality worldwide. Indeed, this pandemic resulted in numerous cardiovascular complications, which had a very negative impact on vital prognosis. Moreover, underlying cardiovascular disease was commonly present in patients hospitalized with COVID-19, and was associated with a higher risk of severe illness and mortality.Even after widespread vaccination, the prevalence of myocarditis remained high, especially in cases of Covid long syndrome.

Thanks to science and technology, human beings have achieved their current levels of quality of life. The effect that science and technology have had and continue to have on improving our living conditions is evident in all areas. As a result, we live much better today than we did a hundred years ago. However, the importance given to science in the education system is low, if measured by the time and resources devoted to it. More effort needs to be made at compulsory education levels. Otherwise, the gap between citizens' knowledge of science and the arts will never be bridged. Therefore, together with education, information and popularisation are the best recipes for combating anti-science tendencies.
