Artesunate is a drug derived from artemisinin used to treat the most aggressive form of malaria. However, its use is not recommended in the first trimester of pregnancy due to its toxic effects on the embryo's reproductive tract. This reproductive toxicity may be related to the oestrogenic action of this drug. Despite the evidence of artesunate's oestrogenic action, no studies have yet been carried out on the subject. And this is what this book presents in greater depth.

Rome was a society that honoured its ancestors, its law and its history. There, with the exception of a few tremors, the past seemed to define and legitimise the present. This apparent stability, this vision of the norm as a fact of nature, was sought after by the various legal orders of the West, each claiming the role of legitimate and natural heir to a supposed unity stemming from classical culture. Authors such as Manuel Hespanha denounce these legitimisation strategies as attempts to cover up a rupture between classical and contemporary law. In the work that follows, we suggest that this split is not recent but, on the contrary, intrinsic to Roman law itself, which did not enjoy continuity even in its own time. Even if we consider the weight of tradition, it is worth remembering that it was up to living Romans to look after the memory of absent things and, in a way, also to interpret, or even compose, the posthumous voice of the dead. If there is a tradition, it would be the administration and cover-up of various ruptures. We may be legitimate heirs of the Romans. Not of a normative order, but of the fiction of the unshakeable continuity of a legal tradition.

The research work that we present was carried out with the main objective of determining the influence of the administrative mechanics and the legal framework of public officials in the organization of urban transport of small vehicles in the provincial municipality of San Roman, in the study carried out has the purpose of proposing proposals of the local government in the organization of transport with the participation of citizens. As for the methodology applied, it is descriptive, because it systematically describes and interprets the characteristics of the study variables, according to its purpose: it is a theoretical type of research, and according to its strategy it is a descriptive type of research. The design used is non-experimental research, of the probabilistic sampling type, therefore the linear correlation design was applied, with a study sample of 326 drivers. The technique used was the survey. As for the instruments used, we have: the questionnaire. It was concluded that there is a very significant influence of the administrative mechanics and the legal framework implemented by the provincial municipality of San Roman.

Considering the different contents that make up school Physical Education, this study corresponds to research involving electronic games to be played in Physical Education classes. We identified and assumed electronic games as a teaching tool for Physical Education content, as they are characterised as one of the contemporary forms of leisure and now also sport, being an offshoot of cybernetics, an industry that is growing more and more in Brazil. As Moran, Massetto and Behrens (2012) point out, it is important to think about how to use technology effectively at school to provide students with meaningful learning, as it can help them relate to, interpret, contextualise, signify and improve their knowledge of a particular subject in their daily lives. The aim was to analyse and present the contributions of electronic games as a pedagogical tool for teaching Physical Education content in the context of Basic Education.

Breaking down the barriers surrounding accessibility is essential to enable these people to be included in the information society, because you don't just have to think about the physical changes to the library. We need to go further: we need to develop an awareness on the part of the people who work in information centres, a more inclusive way of thinking and let this be reflected in their attitudes. "For people without disabilities, technology makes things easier. For people with disabilities, technology makes things possible." (Radabaugh).

Broiler poultry farming in Brazil has constantly invested in technological innovations, allowing for new concepts in broiler production systems. These advances are due to the characterisation of its climate and open poultry house typologies, which have always placed Brazil in a beneficial circumstance, highlighted by the results in terms of performance and bird welfare. Thermal comfort is a fundamental element in guaranteeing good environmental conditions, and there should be concern about the choice of materials when designing poultry facilities, in order to minimise factors that could interfere with broiler performance, as well as identifying strategies and alternatives that are viable in the region under study.

Zika is a disease that has been on the increase in Brazil from 2014 to the present day. The vector that causes it is the Aedes aegypti, which, through its bite, can transmit the virus, causing microcephaly and leaving several lifelong consequences. In addition to the increase in cases of microcephaly, the Zika virus generates major problems that involve the whole of society and the country's economy, such as the cost of medical treatment for microcephalic children and their families, as their families will stop working to support and monitor their treatment, and also the cost of basic sanitation, as a key factor in combating the mosquito and drawing up public policies. This study analysed these economic and environmental aspects in order to understand the influence of the virus and the factors that have led to the growth of the vector. A literature search was carried out to understand the effects of the Zika virus and its economic, social and environmental impacts. In this work, the economic costs related to microcephaly, the loss of income of the child's family members and the country's investment in basic sanitation were reported.

"Art and Experience: mediation as educational action" presents the mediation process developed at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Paraná, in Curitiba, with the aim of collaborating in the learning of visual arts in a non-formal educational space: the contemporary art museum. Based on the researcher's experience as a cultural mediator at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Paraná (MAC/PR), she observed the importance of the fundamental role of mediation in the visitor's learning process through interaction with the work of art and the mediator, also realising the need to present the strategies developed to the academic public, in order to emphasise the importance of mediation and the mediator's work in cultural spaces, such as the art museum.

Environmental management in the hotel industry involves approaches that range from competitiveness strategies to social, political, economic and cultural movements that, in a way, encompass behavioural trends and often differ from theory and practice, with management activities in perspectives that incubate short- and long-term actions. The aim of this topic is to demonstrate that due to concern for the environment, the implementation of Environmental Management in hotels brings numerous advantages for all those involved, both directly and indirectly. The environment benefits directly from the natural resources that are conserved and preserved, and the company, regardless of its size, will have quality services that are prioritised for excellence and the loyalty of its customers and employees.

Squamous cell carcinoma is a malignant neoplasm that frequently affects the oral cavity and brings with it various other alterations that can aggravate the patient's symptoms, which is why prior diagnosis and specific treatments are necessary, and will be presented throughout our explanations.

The project has brought the component of leisure, fun and joy to this community, improving relationships of friendship, respect and reducing prejudiced attitudes by changing the discriminatory and segregating thinking of many people. Another important point was that it showed the responsibility of developing educational principles to build more committed citizens, presenting a concrete way out of the social problems related to getting children off the streets, improving relationships at home, at school and in society, positively impacting personal discipline and self-esteem, also promoting respect and conservation of the public good, improving student performance, allowing the school environment to be valued, transforming it into an attractive space and thus improving school performance and reducing dropouts, with the teacher responsible for the project being of fundamental importance for it to give good results.The Bola na Mão Gol Cidadão project has changed the community of Vila Bandeirantes in the city of Teresina - PI, especially the CAIC Balduino de Deus School, as well as developing a sense of ownership of the project within the community.

The subjects of the study were 213 elderly people living in the urban area of Rio do Sul - SC, aged 60 or over. Leisure-time physical activity was assessed using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ), long version, which refers to walking. PA was classified into three levels: inactive (at least 10 minutes a week), insufficiently active (10 to 149 minutes) and physically active (150 minutes or more). The Neighbourhood Environmental Walkability Scale (NEWS) was used to assess the perception of the environment. The prevalence of leisure-time physical activity for elderly people who walk 150 minutes or more a week was 22.1 per cent, 22.6 per cent for women and 20 per cent for men. The proportion of insufficiently active older people was high (77.9%), especially among men (80.0%). There was a significant association between some attributes of the environment and the practice of leisure-time physical activity; however, those who considered the environment to be the most favourable for this practice did not achieve 150 minutes a week. This calls for attention to the implementation of public policies to increase the proportion of active elderly people.

This monograph studies the need and possibility of preserving the individual's right to personality in the event of moral damage in the workplace. It demonstrates important and necessary aspects to inform the possible scope of the damage. It addresses the right to personality from the perspective of the dignity of the human person, violated by the practice of harassment, and the difficulty of proving its occurrence when seeking judicial protection. It points to relevant doctrinal concepts, inherent to social and human aspects, to raise awareness among individuals who seek their dignity in a healthy working environment. It reflects on the consequences of moral damage at work, which are not always externalised, but which affect the subjective rights of human beings. Some means of proof admitted in labour proceedings are presented, as well as the conditions under which they can be used in court so that conduct can be effectively studied, denounced, curbed and punished.

The management of physical space, in all its forms, can benefit from the inclusion of techniques and procedures based on new information technologies. The aim of this book is to investigate the possibilities of applying geographic information systems (GIS) in order to contribute to some aspects of the management of urban and agricultural activities. Although this is not a new technology, because its principles have been used for a long time, remote sensing and GIS are tools that are currently widely available on the internet, even with free software options and free information. This work integrates field research, through limnological analyses, with the processing of satellite images and the use of the Georeferenced Information Processing System (SPRING). In addition to the fact that these tools have proved effective in visualising potentially polluting points, it is believed that this management model of information from the urban and rural areas of the municipality of Itaqui, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, could lead to new ideas and applications to help decision-makers.

The aim of this work was to understand the use of women's footwear, especially for work and leisure, and to relate it to the professions carried out by the consumers. To this end, a qualitative and iconographic study was carried out using an electronic diary with 30 AB class women who work in five professional areas. The central premise of this study is the possible relationship between a woman's professional area and the style of shoe she wears on different occasions. In this sense, there would be a predisposition on the part of women to adapt the style of shoe and size of heel to the type of profession they perform.

Entrepreneurs stand out as agents for strengthening local economies because of their power to promote economic growth linked to their businesses. Investigating the formation of Entrepreneurial Intention (EI) is crucial to understanding the whole process of entrepreneurship. Based on Schwartz's Theory of Human Values (TVH) (2001) and Ajzen's Theory of Planned Behaviour (TCP) (1991), the aim of this study was to identify the influence of human values and planned behaviour on the EI of university students from eleven educational institutions in the south-west region of Paraná. The research universe comprised 3rd and 4th year students on face-to-face administration programmes. The PCT-based model was able to explain 51.1 per cent of the variance in EI, which is an average value compared to the values found in previous research, which vary between 20 per cent and 65 per cent. The added human values model was able to explain 51.8 per cent of the variance in EI. This research also highlighted the regionality factor, enabling future comparative studies between Brazilian states and regions.

Modern society especially needs specialists capable of making non-standard decisions, active participation in innovation processes, ready to competently solve research problems. A young specialist should be capable of systematic action in a professional situation, to analyse and design his/her activity, to act independently in conditions of uncertainty, to have a desire for self-improvement and strive for creative self-realisation. One of the most important requirements of the modern stage of development of university training is the development of student's research work.

The rotator cuff performs various functions during shoulder exercises. In this study, individuals who have been diagnosed with a rotator cuff injury will be asked some questions, mainly about the cause of the injury and whether they are practicing any physical activity, as this is fundamental for strengthening the injured region. The main objective of this study was to identify the prevalence of rotator cuff injuries in physiotherapy clinics in a municipality in the midwest of Santa Catarina.

The emergence of the Public Budget is related to society's demands for greater control over the use of public resources, which is directly influenced by the way power is exercised and executed. Participatory Budgeting was born from this same perspective, but places citizens as an essential actor in the formulation of the budget, demonstrating the nuances of a participation methodology capable of improving the level of citizenship and social relations, supported by minimum access to knowledge of the techniques involved in drawing up, allocating and monitoring the Public Budget. Based on the conceptual analysis of Public and Participatory Budgeting, it will be shown how the practical application of the Participatory Budgeting methodology establishes mechanisms for popular participation in city management, the qualitative and educational improvement of citizens and the democratisation of the use of public resources.

Digital technology has become part of people's daily lives. Dealing with it in the school environment is a way of bringing the out-of-school environment closer to the in-school environment, as well as training citizens who are able to deal critically with new social technological practices. With this in mind, the book problematises teaching and learning in the field of digital technologies, a current issue experienced by teachers and students who are faced with the challenge of using digital artefacts in their contexts. Criminal law is constantly evolving, accompanied by various transformations formed over the course of history. In this relationship, there are the objectives of the penalty, related to the punitive role of the State, in which the penal system comes to fruition. This book, supervised by Bruna Azevedo de Castro and the result of a Scientific Initiation project sponsored by PIBIC, will provide the reader with a study of the relationship between Criminal Law and society, the structures of punishment, its respective historical evolution, the list of constitutional principles, and finally, structure the objectives of punishment in contemporary Criminal Law and list the reality of the Brazilian penal system. This makes it possible to encourage academic debate and, in a critical and analytical way, to propose measures aimed at restoring the effectiveness of the objectives of punishment in contemporary criminal law. Therefore, this book is aimed at the thinker who wants to propose new punitive perspectives, structuring critical thinking that is capable of taking criminal law out of dark times and bringing effectiveness to the punitive process.

This book will focus on the conceptions of women held by teachers of Christian Education in Evangelical Confessional Schools. According to Theological Studies (GRUDEM, 2009; KOSTENBERG, 2011), God gave men and women different roles and equipped them with the necessary apparatus to fulfil them, and one cannot take the place of the other without causing harm. It seems that society has not understood the importance of this distinction and has increasingly distanced itself from them, and according to Theological Studies, society has suffered the effects and consequences of this distancing. We could cite, for example, the increase in violence and crime, poor performance and indiscipline at school, irresponsibility and generalised aggression on the part of young people, among many other general problems. Based on the assumption that the majority of these women are Christians and therefore aware of this reality, we sought to find out through interviews which concept influences their personal choices, as well as whether Christian values relating to women are taught in the classroom.

The purpose of this research is to analyse the concept of libidinous act specifically translated into articles 213 of the Penal Code and article 215-A, introduced by Law 13.718/2018, to discuss the absence of taxability in the former, which makes its incidence clearly generic, as well as to point out the repetition of the problem in the latter type, which should bring balance between some conducts that today are interpreted as "rape". Thus, the article will seek to delimit the scope of the penal norm, based on the principle of proportionality and reasonableness, in the imputation of the term "rapist" to the offender. The aim is to identify, within the doctrine and jurisprudence, what the main controversial points are and what the consequences are of an imputation based on the common sense of the judge, in the fight against the feeling of impunity. We will then divide the concept of libidinous act based on the level of damage caused to the victim, in order to delimit which behaviours violate the Legal Good "Sexual Dignity".

Happiness lies in the harmonious realisation of oneself, through the balance of the personality. Harmony is achieved through the practice of virtue, which for Aristotle is the middle ground. Human beings are always in search of beauty, fortune, fame, often impossible dreams, always wanting something more, associating happiness with the satisfaction of pleasures, achieving only dissatisfaction. They want to feel full, but they only get proof of lack. Many philosophers and religious people attribute this human quest to the search for God. For Aristotle, the only way to acquire happiness (Highest Good) is through an activity of the soul according to virtue, not an innate virtue, but a virtue acquired through habit cultivated throughout the individual's life. In fact, what we all long for is to find true and absolute happiness. It's a constant quest.

Bovine mastitis is considered to be the main disease affecting dairy herds worldwide, causing serious economic damage to dairy cattle production worldwide. Among the most prevalent pathogens associated with mastitis in lactating cows are bacteria belonging to the genus Staphylococcus. The role of virulence factors of the Staphylococcus genus, such as coagulase and biofilm production, in the persistence and dissemination in the host, in the expression of severe disease and in the interference of antimicrobial treatment is currently being discussed.

The tone of Egyptomania Situated so far from the Nile valley where ancient Egypt flourished, could there be buildings, artistic and/or literary works in Brazil inspired by it? To this question, extensive research, still in progress, which began in 1995, answers yes! The legacy of ancient Egypt in this country appears more in the form of the images they created, used by different spheres of the labour and social world, where they circulate and are produced both by people from the intellectual and economic elite and by the rough and/or dispossessed.

To what extent does philosopher G.W. Leibniz's hypothesis of pre-established harmony constitute a solution to the inconsistencies of the Cartesian and Newtonian way of thinking about the problem of movement, whether of animate or inanimate bodies? Our research is aimed at answering this question. The notion of movement was problematic at the beginning of modern natural philosophy, because Descartes, based on his metaphysics of distinct substances, postulated a causal interactionism that, if accepted as a consistent theory, would lead to serious violations of the universal laws of nature, specifically the principle of conservation of the total quantity of movement. Newton, in trying to refute the Cartesian philosophy of the movement of inanimate bodies, adopts a notion of absolute space whose main ontological characteristics are the independence of bodies and their total similarity. We review the debate on the problem of movement in the philosophy of Descartes, Newton and Leibniz, based on the premise that metaphysics should be the foundation of physics.

When you realise that you need to modify an environment, with a view to beautification, accessibility or even restoration, you first need to think about who depends on that space, what the space has been used for in the past and today, what the probable interferences and medium- and long-term purposes of the space to be worked on are; with these different perspectives in mind, and with a view to facilitating the landscaper, we have taken the initiative to write this book.
