The aim of this study was to determine and evaluate the concentrations of the heavy metals Lead (Pb) and Zinc (Zn) in soil and plants and the potential contamination of soil by these metals, resulting from the deposition of vehicle emissions, in areas on the fringes of the Presidente Dutra motorway, in the Paraíba do Sul river valley in the south-eastern region of Brazil. The results found for the soil samples were evaluated according to the methodologies that suggest the guideline values for soils in the state of São Paulo and the reference values and tolerance limits for Brazilian soils. The results showed that in the areas under study there was a decrease in the concentration of Lead and Zinc with distance and depth and a greater enrichment of these metals, especially at a distance of 0 to 10 m from the edge of the motorway, presumably due to the deposition of emissions from motor vehicles. Considering the reference values and tolerance limits for Brazilian soils, the soil on the banks of this motorway is contaminated with the metal Zn.

This is the case with the environmental licensing of the Jirau hydroelectric plant, part of the Madeira River Hydroelectric Complex. The starting point for the research was the allegation that the environmental licensing of hydroelectric plants hinders Brazilian development. In order to tackle this argument, I raised the suspicion that it is partly wrong. To confirm or deny my suspicion, I surveyed the acts of the administrative process and the lawsuits filed by different parties regarding the licensing of the Jirau HPP, conducted semi-structured interviews with some of the people involved in this process, and consulted documents from the state agencies related to the case, as well as documents from the consortia of companies that bid for the power generation auction. The Jirau case cannot be accused of creating temporary obstacles to the expansion of the energy supply needed for Brazilian development due to excessive bureaucracy and institutional weaknesses at the agency. The fear of criminalisation of technicians has increased the level of requirements and the system of administrative and judicial control has exposed crucial licensing issues to society.

Urban civilization in Sub-Saharan Africa is essentially cultural, and its exploratory context is the product of the anteriority of empirical mutations in processual history. This age-old metamorphosis is worth its golden present in the dialectic of human prowess. From hybrid hamlets to illuminated forests, Abong-Mbang lies at the heart of structural dynamics and reconfigurations, the necessity of which abounds in an institutional imperative. Indeed, with its rich cultural diversity and strategic position as a crossroads town, Abong-Mbang is the "Tower of Babel" of the Rising Sun region, offering collective memory the first verse in the founding of Cameroon as a "nation-state". The author of this opuscule invites us to revisit the concept of the urban and its appropriation in the image of Abong-Mbang.

The objective of this research is to conserve the historic center of the city of Guanajuato. In it there are problems of pedestrian accessibility. This study is to make it known that it has an undeniable heritage. Currently there is a relationship between the individual and the functional limitations of the environment. The focus of this research was aimed at strengthening and generating sustainable projects without altering the integrity of the heritage property and without using means that condition the conservation of the environment. Accessibility must be considered in the urban planning of every heritage city, restoration and conservation of public space and buildings, without altering their architecture and the natural environment. Guanajuato is characterized for being a changing city, for being dynamic, interacting between its streets and alleys. That is why any failed intervention in this city is due to the fact that the pedestrian is not considered as the main protagonist. It is here where several aspects have to be considered to be incorporated in the cultural assets without affecting the real estate that embellishes the capital city.

Globally, the incidence of cerebrovascular disease (stroke) is increasing every year. According to the World Stroke Organisation, "stroke is a significant cause of death and disability today. One in 6 people suffers a stroke during their lifetime. Each year, stroke affects 15 million people worldwide, 5.8 million of whom die and another 6.7 million are left disabled. The main factors in the development of stroke are components of metabolic syndrome (MS), and its presence significantly increases the risk of stroke." In the assessment of MS prevalence by WHO experts it is stated that "today the world is facing a new pandemic of the XXI century, covering industrialised countries. The monograph is devoted to one of the urgent problems of modern neurology, the probability of development and peculiarities of clinical course of multifactorial diseases are largely determined by genetic determinants. Monographs are intended for neurologists, therapists, cardiologists, general practitioners, master's and clinical residents.

When I came into contact with the universe of the folias de reis in Juiz de Fora-MG, I was struck by reports of violent encounters between groups. These usually involved clowns: ambiguous figures who at the same time are considered representations of Herod's soldiers and protectors of the groups. At the same time, field observations, reading and the exchange of information with other researchers indicated that the research would have a lot to gain from studying the broad spectrum of sounds present there. Thus, I chose the question of violence as a constituent element of the structuring processes of the folias in Juiz de Fora and the study of sonorities as a methodological tool for the investigation as the main problems of the thesis. By studying the symbolic meanings of the sounds present in the folias' rituals, we sought to valorise their discursive power. Its examination led to important processes such as the exchange of ritual roles present in the flexibilisation of polarities. We sought a perspective that understood violence - both symbolic and concrete - as a structuring element of ritual processes.

Based on the assumption that field trips to natural environments can have a significant impact on students' education, the aim of this book was to analyse the contributions of field trips to natural environments in the education of higher education students in Environmental Management and Environmental Engineering at the Celso Suckow da Fonseca Federal Centre for Technological Education (CEFET/RJ).

In all societies, the phenomenon of begging exists on two levels: begging for lack of food and begging for insufficient knowledge. In fact, beggars due to a lack of food have often congregated on the streets, especially in cities, while beggars due to a lack of knowledge have congregated in libraries and research centres. There is a beggar in every man, and he creates well-located bilocated spaces. The beggars on the street are the great conservators of the spaces of a bilocated consciousness where they expand into other worlds that, in the absence of introspection, can hardly be identified. The work is intended as a social critique, denouncing a social stratum that is excluded and as a result of this exclusion, beggars and worlds are formed within the consciousness as a refuge. Spaces that we all need to explore because they are beyond our reach.

In Ecuador, public policies at all levels of government are the result of at least two fundamental issues: on the one hand, they are the result of the participatory and institutional processes carried out by governments, whether municipal, provincial or national; and on the other hand, they derive from the approaches with which public problems are conceived, and the different strategies aimed at solving them, i.e. how they are treated. In this research work it was possible to know that the basic services policy of the municipality of Chone, implemented in the poor neighborhoods of the city, has consisted of vertical and fragmented actions that do not collect all the particularities of the problem, and that the efforts made by the administration 2014-2019 have not been sufficient to solve that issue. This is also due to the needs-based, welfare and clientelistic approach that characterizes the public management of the council of Chone.

The nurse's competences advocate a humanisation that respects vulnerabilities. This case deals with delusional psychosis and initial dementia. Since dementia causes a progressive deterioration in cognitive/emotional/social functions, and delusional psychosis causes hallucinations and delusions, various psychotherapeutic interventions have been developed. These aim to improve the quality of life of the sick individual, so that they can develop the skills that will enable them to continue on their life path. The humanisation of care involves the patient/family/caregiver. When the carer is facilitated in living with the problem of dementia, respect for these vulnerabilities preserves the dignity of the individual/patient/family. Carers' tasks include support in instrumental activities, assistance in autonomous actions, emotional support and coping with the pressures of the caring role. Empowering carers means developing a family intervention, a set of approaches to help deal with the illness/day-to-day problems.

The objective of this research was to determine the comprehension reading levels of students in the first semesters of Higher Education in Ecuador. This research is circumscribed in the linguistic-cognitive foundations of reading comprehension proposed by Barret in his Taxonomy and in the postulates of Ángel Lázaro. The results are obtained from the descriptive analysis of the different sectors and traits involved in this complex cognitive process. It is found that the students of the three careers of the Faculty of Psychological Sciences present as a rule difficulties in the levels of greater complexity within the reading comprehension process (form of perception, trait details); generating difficulties in the reading comprehension tasks that involve capturing complementary ideas and interpreting certain isolated details within the written text. It is concluded the need to carry out events that allow developing reading comprehension and integrating reading as a fundamental part of the learning process, becoming a transversal axis during the Professional Career.

This work corresponds to a systematization of the experiences of leaders of waste pickers' organizations that provide waste management services in some localities of the city of Bogota; APM, GER 8, ASORTOBERIN and RECICLOSOCIAL, organizations linked to the Democratic Roundtable of Waste Pickers. The purpose is to recognize knowledge and practices associated with political training, different conceptions about forms and daily practices that represent political knowledge were distinguished in the narratives. Aspects related to the democratic roundtable of waste pickers as an organizational and entrepreneurial process, the pedagogical relevance of the experience in political-organizational matters for subordinate groups and the values or anti-values common to the exercise of leadership were analyzed. The research methodology is the systematization of experiences that integrates grounded theory for the analysis of narratives. The importance of participation as a basis for political formation in the population of waste pickers in the city of Bogota, Colombia, is affirmed.

The purpose of this research is to analyze the importance of the Rural Municipality in the Venezuelan legal field. It is a documentary, bibliographic, historical, comparative and descriptive research. In the constitutional evolution of Venezuela, the Rural Municipality is not foreseen, even when in some of our Fundamental Charters the creation of different municipal regimes is invoked, to be developed through a National Organic Law. However, this National Organic Law of Municipal Regime and Organic Law of the Municipal Public Power, have omitted one of the most important special conditions, economic development, geographic situation, historical and cultural elements, which our Constitutions have demanded to create the different municipal regimes and, when the Fundamental Charter invokes them, as in the case of the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela of 1999, they are ignored by the Venezuelan legislator, at the time of drafting the National Organic Law that governs the matter. The specific purpose is to generate a proposal for the inclusion of the Rural Municipality in the Organic Law of the Municipal Public Power.

The research analysed the implementation of the goals set out in the Institutional Development Plan (IDP) of the Federal Institute of Brasilia (IFB) for the period 2009-2013 and the contributions listed by managers of the Federal Network of Professional, Scientific and Technological Education (Federal Network) on the bottlenecks encountered in the implementation of the IDP in their institutions. The fulfilment of the goals was analysed by comparing the information contained in the PDI 2009/2013, the Institutional Plans and the IFB Management Reports.

Crimes against property and their correlation with the police approach is a study aimed at evaluating the correlation between preventive policing and immediate repression, especially police approaches based on the suspicious behaviour of people, as well as the targeted stimulation of personal searches based on vehicles that are more prone to committing crimes, and the change in crime indicators, especially economically motivated crimes such as robbery and theft.

Cancer is a disease with a high incidence and mortality rate and is responsible for around 12 per cent of all deaths worldwide. For this reason, there is great interest in developing compounds with cytotoxic activity, especially with the aim of getting round the problem of resistance. The aim of this book was to synthesise six dihydropyrimidinones (DHPMs) and investigate their antitumour activity against a leukaemic cell line (U937). The compounds have hydroxyl groups in the ortho, meta and para positions of the benzene ring and oxygen or sulphur in the pyrimidine ring. After synthesising the compounds under thermal conditions and microwave irradiation, the DHPMs were evaluated for antitumour activity using the MTT metabolisation method. The sulphur portion in the structures of the DHPMs significantly increased the antitumour activity for the U937 leukaemia cell type. This was confirmed by the reduction in IC50 to 84 ¿mol.L-1. This study found that the position of the hydroxyl group in the benzene ring influences the antitumour activity observed for U937 leukaemia cells, showing that the hydroxyl group in the ortho position of the benzene ring is the most active.

Over the years, those canonical authors of 20th century Hispanic American literature have settled in the minds of readers: Borges, Carpentier, Fuentes.... But what about the periphery? Authors such as Bombal, Arreola, Pacheco and Benedetti, excluded by Harold Bloom in his Canon, resurface to show how essential it is to read them. These short essays allow us to approach them and their particular mirror in which we observe the American "being" of the last century.

The objective of this research is to study personality traits and the risk of consumption of psychotropic substances in students of the Psychological Sciences program at the Universidad Tecnológica Indoamérica, in order to determine the influence between the two variables. The validated instruments applied were the 16PF5 for personality traits and the ASSIST V3.0 for risk of consumption of psychotropic substances. The results show that 34% of the population present high scores in hardness and low scores in extraversions. Regarding the risk of consumption of psychotropic substances, 59% of the students are at a moderate level of risk in terms of alcohol consumption and 67% in relation to tobacco consumption. Once the data were analyzed using Chi-square, it was concluded that personality traits do not influence the risk of consumption of psychotropic substances. Based on the results obtained, workshops are designed to reduce the consumption of psychotropic substances and thus improve the quality of life.

The increase of the automobile fleet in Bogotá and particularly in the locality of Los Martires, due to the economic growth of the country and the city, has become the main source of used tires, where the strategies for their management and disposal have not been the most adequate or environmentally friendly, since most of them are stored in clandestine deposits, home yards and public spaces. The following book seeks to provide information about the selective collection and environmental management of used tires, their composition, characteristics, current uses and, in addition, to present different alternatives that minimize the negative impacts caused by their inadequate management and final disposal. However, at the end of their useful life, used tires become a special waste that is difficult to dispose of and can generate serious problems not only for the environment, but also for public health. For this reason, the objective of this book is to present some of the ways and alternative uses that help minimize the impacts caused to the environment by the generation of used tires.

As the years go by, different pathologies, syndromes and disorders develop, which affect the development of learning, language, behavior, physical, social and motor development of our children, one of these is willimas syndrome. In this book we can find many characteristic descriptions that help us to identify the person who suffers from the (SW), it also gives us some strategies that we can implement to improve their child development through early stimulation. It also explains the fundamental reasons why some people develop this syndrome. that is why it is of utmost importance to have knowledge of the things that happen in our daily environment and thus be able to be a help for those who need it.

The author is the son of a family farmer, his childhood was marked by family work and studies, and in his teens he got to know SERTA, where it carries out actions at local, regional, state and national level. SERTA is a non-governmental organisation that develops training processes for sustainable development. This book investigated the results of the Professional Technical Course in Agroecology in the lives of the students, their families and their properties. The results of the research demonstrate the involvement and empowerment of students to promote family farming and remain in the countryside. The work is developed in four strategic dimensions. A brief presentation of the object of study, showing the historical construction of how Serta developed the course curriculum. A theoretical grounding of the main elements that underpinned the course's results. An empirical study and discussion of the data analysed, with the aim of taking an in-depth look at the results promoted by the course and, finally, a conclusion, identifying the major driving forces that underpinned the results and some bottlenecks that need to be overcome by Serta's pedagogical team.

Parasitism by Haemonchus contortus is one of the limiting factors for goat and sheep production around the world, especially in tropical regions, where the economic losses are more pronounced. Medicinal plant studies are being carried out to find an effective herbal medicine to control populations of this nematode and thus minimise the damage to the health and production of its hosts. In this way, the in vitro anthelmintic activity of the fixed seed oil of Carapa guianensis (andiroba) and Copaifera officinalis (copaiba) and the essential oil of Psidium guajava (guava) on eggs and larvae of H. contortus in goats was evaluated.

Candida parapsilosis is nowadays an emerging agent, occupying the second place in invasive candidiasis after C. albicans. It is currently known that C. parapsilosis integrates a complex formed by C. parapsilosis sensu stricto, C. metapsilosis and C. orthopsilosis. The aim of this work was the study and molecular identification of 80 strains of C. parapsilosis sensu lato from different clinical materials. Molecular identification was performed by MALDI- TOF technique and PCR-RFLP; antifungal susceptibility was analyzed by VITEK2 technique and agar diffusion. Of the total strains studied, 92.5 % of C. parapsilosis sensu stricto, 5 % of C. metapsilosis and 2.5 % of C. orthopsilosis were found. No resistance to any of the antifungals used by both methods was observed. It could be observed that, contrary to what is described in the world literature, in our center C. metapsilosis occupies the second place of importance after C. parapsilosis sensu stricto.

Our Constitution of the Republic of Ecuador recognizes and guarantees the right to work to all citizens of this country. As an advance in labor matters and rights, the current Constitution guarantees a new form of work that has been performed for a long time, such as self-employment or self-employment, i.e. this form of work that is exercised by various people is now fully guaranteed in our Magna Carta.

Honey is a natural product with great market value, obtained from the transformation of plant nectar, with high nutritional value and great importance for human health. Due to flaws in processing and contamination fraud, honey is exposed to dangers that can cause fermentation and deteriorate it. With this in mind, the main aim of this study was to assess the physico-chemical and microbiological quality of honey sold in the municipality of Caraúbas and its compliance with the identity and quality standards stipulated by legislation. The samples were purchased from the local shops in Caraúbas and transported to the Technology laboratory at UFERSA and UFCG, where samples from different producers and brands were analysed. The physico-chemical analyses showed that the samples presented results in line with the indices stipulated by the legislation, but the microbiological analyses showed some non-compliant results, mainly in terms of moulds and yeasts. The implementation of Good Beekeeping Practices is suggested as a way of ensuring the quality of the honey produced and marketed.

When analyzing the share price of Carvajal Empaques S.A. (s. f.) during the last four years, a constant valuation is observed which, although in June 2015 was at levels of $1,250, currently amounts to $5,300 (graph 1). This valuation of the share corresponds to 324 % due to the increase in sales participation in countries such as El Salvador, through the incursion with new products, and in Ecuador, with the plant in Durán.Based on this valuation, it is recommended to buy the share of Carvajal Empaques S.A., with a target price of $ 5,713, which was calculated with the methodology of discounted free cash flow and valuation by multiples, to find the fundamental value of the subsidiaries. The recommendation is based on the good dynamics of its three business lines: foodservice, industrial and agro-industrial, which are expected to continue growing in the following years. Additionally, a new plant in Peru is expected to start operations in 2017, which will operate with state-of-the-art technology, thus increasing production capacity by 30%, and will serve to meet the increase in demand in the future.

International organized crime has in drug trafficking one of its most important expressions. Drug cartels have used violence as a subsidiary and unprofessionalized element. However, at the beginning of this new century, in Mexico, in the context of political changes, a new organization emerged: Los Zetas. This cartel counted, among its members, former special forces. The rise of this new organization has spread from eastern Mexico to the southern United States and northern Guatemala. The spread of this new and particular modus operandi has affected the dynamics of illicit drug trafficking in the region. The response of the Mexican state, through its security policies to deal with illicit drug trafficking, has been influenced by the emergence and empowerment of this cartel.
