In December 2020, the United States created the African Civic Engagement Academy (AAEC or ACEA), a program designed to introduce civic engagement strategies and provide a space for leaders to adapt these strategies to local conditions. The Program, the very first of its kind to be created, contained three courses: Productive Engagement with Government, Inclusion and Governance with Diversity, and Media as a Bridge between Civil Society and Government. Participation in the Program had enabled selected leaders to develop professional skills and acquire tools to improve community and government engagement. All participants were expected to develop a Civic Engagement Action Plan in which they had identified the steps to bring a civic engagement project to life in their respective community or governmental unit. The authors of the 60 best Action Plans were selected to take part in the ACEA Summit in May 2022 in Accra.

Despite Brazil being one of the world's largest steel producers, the use of steel structures in buildings has not been significant if compared to the potential of the Brazilian industrial park. At the same time, the development of steel products in the country has increased the number of alternative construction solutions available. The construction system known worldwide as Light Steel Framing (LSF), also known as self-supporting system of dry construction in steel, has been consolidating in recent years in the Brazilian civil construction market, and it can be found in several construction sites in various regions of the country. The use of industrialised construction systems such as SFL requires skilled professionals, detailed and integrated projects in order to minimise losses and construction deadlines. In this respect, civil engineers and architects play a fundamental role in encouraging the use of new techniques and products.

This book is a personal account of the issues surrounding the DRC's bid for economic independence. The economic problems of the DRC are numerous. They can, however, be organised, and the author attempts to do so on the basis of one problem: that of the search for economic independence for his country, the DRC, firstly in the context of Zairianisation and secondly as a response to the future challenges facing the Congolese economy. Not only in his capacity as an economist and observer, but also as a committed and responsible actor, he offers a pertinent insight into the decisions taken by President Mobutu in November 1973 and December 1974. The author's analysis is harsh but objective. He also suggests alternatives to nationalisation. To succeed, the author suggests thinking about the future in terms of choice, predictability, risk management and commitment to building a peaceful future. Finally, he recommends that the younger generation learn to welcome and accept others in a multi-ethnic Congolese nation.

Among the cereals, wheat is the crop that is among the most cultivated plants in the world, with a share of approximately 32% of world grain production.Nitrogen, which besides having a biological importance is also the most difficult nutrient to be managed in soils of tropical and subtropical regions, due to the large number of reactions to which it is subject and its high instability in the soil. Based on this context, this work aimed to evaluate different dosages of slow-release nitrogen fertilizer cover under no-till farming system in the culture of wheat.In recent years, the quail (Coturnix coturnix sp.) has been considered a bird of great importance as a producer of meat and eggs, due to its peculiarities. The development of nutritional plans for raising quails in Brazilian conditions can contribute to a reduction in production costs.In this context, the present work sought to evaluate the development of quails in the initial phase from 1 to 21 days receiving probiotic and electrolyte diluted in water.

Public governance is best appreciated in terms of its ability to develop solutions to support poor people, and even to help them emerge from vulnerability. In fragile countries, contributory social protection covers only a small proportion of the working population. Even civil servants and government employees do not pay social security contributions, mainly because of pressure from trade unions, and despite the texts adopted to organise the various social security schemes. The strong and pressing demand for social protection and security among the poor and vulnerable is paradoxically not matched by the supply of contributors, due to the lack of sustainable and adequate income or income altogether. Despite positive, and sometimes strong, economic growth in fragile countries, particularly those rich in natural resources such as Guinea, the depth of poverty is increasing as a result of undistributive growth, leaving more poor and vulnerable people by the wayside. In these circumstances, appropriate social safety nets are needed.

Writing a medical observation is one of the objectives of the clinical placement for PCEM 2 students at the Faculty of Medicine in Tunis. However, the contribution of this learning has not yet been objectively evaluated either by the learners or by the teachers. The aim of this study is to evaluate a learning schedule for writing medical observations in psychiatry (anamnestic and semiological data collection and syndromic grouping), and to assess the contribution of this learning. The educational quality of hospital placements is a real challenge for any medical school. Hospital placements are an important opportunity to develop students' medical writing skills.

Article 13 of the National Constitution recognizes the right to equality and non-discrimination as a fundamental right. Likewise, it admits the existence of groups historically discriminated against and in a high degree of vulnerability, assigning to the State the obligation to guarantee material equality through special measures in favor of these groups. Discrimination is a crime that seriously affects the Human Rights of individuals, it is closely linked to inequality and social injustice in such a way that it prevents access to goods and services in the quantity and quality required to satisfy their specific needs given their condition of vulnerability. In this order of ideas, it is necessary to apply the differential approach to the actions of the State in order to guarantee real and effective equality. For this purpose to become a reality, the cooperation of all public servants is necessary. The recognition of the quality of actors as guarantors of the right to equality and the guarantee of non-discrimination in public administration is fundamental for the development of fairer societies.

The aim of this study was to test genes from different functional categories, involved in the response to abiotic stresses, in barley cultivars of different origins. The cultivars were two Algerian ('Tichedrett' and 'Fouara') and one Italian ('Nure'), and were exposed to different water regimes monitored by measuring RSWC%. The experiment was conducted in such a way as to have two levels of water stress (S1 at 40% RSWC and S2 at 20% RSWC) and a control regime at 95% RSWC. A behavioural comparison was carried out with a durum wheat cultivar, 'Ofanto', given its high resistance to water stress. The 'Tichedrett' variety, compared with the other two varieties, showed greater resistance to the stress imposed, and was not influenced in any way by the stress at 40% RSWC. This tolerance could be due to the high accumulation of transcripts of various genes and osmolytes known to be involved in the response to the effects of drought.

Why are the ADF resisting FARDC military operations supported by MONUSCO? This study breaks new ground in the theory of the xylocopeisation of territory as a new paradigm for explaining the ADF war. This theory is borne out by the subcontracting of armed groups by sovereign states to the detriment of their armies, police forces and other specialised services traditionally responsible for state security, leaving their populations at the mercy of outlaws. The study shows that around the ADF, a network of political, economic and cultural smuggling had been consolidated, hence the neologism of a "three-breasted monster". Because it is a monster, a number of harmful consequences were noted in terms of its impact on the socio-economic life of the Ruwenzori region.

This work was developed thinking about the process of continuing teacher education, which studies, part of a historical context of the city of Marau/RS, problematizing the different training events offered by the Government - through the Municipal Department of Education - to teachers of that municipal education network in the historical cut of a decade (2000 - 2010). This research intends, therefore, to analyze concrete processes of continued teacher training, from the specific study of training events organized in a municipal public network. To do so, the research was anchored in the document analysis aiming at establishing a look on the methodological procedures and contents worked in the training events in relief. Also, a thematic bibliographic review, referencing authors who treat continuing education through a critical prism, in addition to a parallel with some of the legal documents and guidelines that support continuing teacher education, such as the LDB, the Municipal Career Plan, CONAE, and the Federal Constitution.

International trade is tending towards globalisation, which means that the cross-border movement of goods and factors of production between several countries in the world is becoming increasingly free, and this is seen as a source of prosperity for nations. This phenomenon is reflected in the import and export aspect, which can be a real vector for development. International trade is growing and expanding by the day. Millions of products are transported, ordered and sold by air, sea and land from production sites to consumer markets. As far as Cameroon is concerned, the development of world trade has brought some relief to its economy, particularly in terms of timber exports, which have contributed an estimated 271 billion F. However, for some time now, the industry has been experiencing difficulties due to congestion at the port of Douala. Timber is stored for months at a time, slowing down the activities of companies operating in the sector and preventing them from making good business.

In 2008, the State decreed free tuition in all public schools in Togo, in order to reduce the burden of school fees, but despite this, parents still prefer private schools. This situation can be explained by the poor conditions (overcrowding, untimely strikes, etc.) in public schools, while the results of the primary school leaving certificate (CEPD) in private schools are better than in public schools.

Cereal bars are a healthy food alternative, and its association with nutritious and functional ingredients has been gaining space in the market. This work aimed the elaboration and sensorial analysis of cereal bars added with watermelon rind flour. In this work there was the physical-chemical and sensorial characterization, three formulations were made with 25, 50 and 75% of added flour from the rind. The physical-chemical characteristics were always very close to those described in the literature. The results obtained in this work show that the product developed has potential for inclusion in the market, since the results of sensory analysis were considered satisfactory, with an index of acceptability higher than 70% and the physicochemical characterization similar to those reported by other authors.

The entry into force of the Rome Statute on July 1, 2002 raised great hopes in the fight against impunity. But the international community's determination to do so came up against Africa's, which noted that this international criminal law called into question diplomatic and jurisdictional immunities, the foundations of classic international law. The universal jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court gives the Prosecutor the right to prosecute all alleged perpetrators, whatever their official status. A shield of ideological criticism has been erected against this form of universal justice, due to the prosecution of active African heads of state. The rejection of this international justice is increasingly proclaimed by African leaders within their international bodies. We are all concerned about the future of this new form of justice, and the rights of victims.

In order to achieve food sovereignty, it is essential to have the capacity to satisfy the nation's consumption through food availability. In the case of basic grains, its capacity must be determined through food self-sufficiency.The most important basic grains for Mexico are rice, beans, white corn and wheat, which represent part of the daily diet of society.Self-sufficiency can be understood as the capacity to satisfy demand through a country's production.In order to determine whether basic grains have food self-sufficiency and comparative advantages, the following indexes were used: Food Dependence and Self-sufficiency, Export Openness, Apparent National Consumption, and Relative Trade Balance.The results show hard data on food self-sufficiency and its capacity to generate comparative advantages, so it is recommended that the State intervene with the creation of public policies aimed at agricultural producers.

Au choque de démocratie, la citoyenneté congolaise en détresse part one is a book that describes in a few lines, through an analysis based on real facts, the deplorable situation of violation of public and civic freedoms enshrined in the constitution of February 18, 2006 in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Indeed, the deterioration of the critical human rights situation has led to a lack of trust between the governing and the governed as a result of the failure to organize elections in December 2016, as stipulated in the constitution, and the international instrumentalization of the country's political situation. The present work is intended to enlighten public opinion on the political impasse and the risks it could engender in the days to come if the Congolese political class does not put things back on the right track. And finally, a constitutional solution has been proposed.

A model of ethical practice is proposed to improve Personnel Selection in Merit and Competitive Examinations in the public sector of Ecuador, with a predictive, prospective, transectional and explanatory methodological design. The level of perception of ethical practices in personnel selection processes in the public sector is mostly medium-low and a high level with respect to a perception of the possibility of improving the selection process through actions characterized by ethics. The influence of ethical practices on selection processes is explained, establishing nine practices characteristic of ethics applicable to the development of selection processes. The model proposed is based on ethical practices derived from the dimension that obtained the highest score analyzed, management.

For as long as we can remember, insurance policies taken out by public-sector entities have been governed by the French Insurance Code. The rules of the French Public Procurement Code therefore did not apply. Consequently, the insurance contract, a private law contract, was deemed incompatible with the Public Procurement Code, and came under the sole jurisdiction of the courts. Legislation then came in to change this state of affairs, bringing insurance contracts into the public domain and within the jurisdiction of the administrative judge. The gradual development of the public insurance contract regime is taking place in a complex, ever-changing legal context, at the junction of Community law, constantly evolving administrative law and insurance law. The complexity of such a combination, and even the contradiction between the rules, is the source of many difficulties.

In a democracy, the political word serves as a basis for reconciling a society's various conflicts, and is disseminated throughout space to facilitate the exchange of opinions. While its form requires mastery of rhetoric and linguistics, as well as political science, psychology, sociology and theology, its context remains highly contextualized.Political discourse is not like any other discourse. The reason is simple: the essential aim of political discourse is to win approval in the form of mass media propaganda. The aim is to create the conditions to install an ideology (collective representation) concerning the change or maintenance of a human reality at a given moment, or of a certain form of power and organization of the city.Political discourse, sometimes referred to as political rhetoric, has existed since the fourth century. It is the study of the language used by political figures, either to debate among themselves or to address the public.

"The Almoravids (Arabic: al Murabitun), in Berber (Imrabden), "the people of the Ribat", were a Berber Moorish dynasty, originally from the Adrar region, who nomadized between present-day Senegal and southern Morocco. In the 11th century, they formed an empire encompassing the western Sahara, the western part of the Maghreb and part of the Iberian Peninsula. The origins and development of the Almoravid movement can be traced back to the Almoravids of the south-western Sahara. This movement, championed by the Almoravids, revived the policy of expansion advocated by the Sanhadjian Awdaghost dynasty, whose aim was to found a powerful emirate. A religious conflict ensued, as the Almoravids, led by the reformer and proselytizer Ibn Yasin, launched a counter-offensive to retake their territory from the animist Soninke emperors. Their primary objective was to spread the Malékite ideology, and then to drive the Zenata out of their territory, as Awdaghost had become the hub of Kharidjite Ibadism under the authority of an animist king: the king of Ghana, hence the sacking of the town in 1077...".

The implementation of Lean Manufacturing (ME) techniques and tools in the production process flows has been assuring the organizations gains in efficiency and increase in productivity. When the concepts of lean manufacturing are successfully implemented, there is a reduction in errors of execution, waste, and the expenses necessary to resolve them. These characteristics are essential for any company that seeks to stand out in its market, given the current pandemic scenario, with strong competition among them. In this context, this study implemented the Value Stream Mapping tool (VFM) in a large electrical products manufacturing company, located in northern Paraná. The implementation occurred in the concreting process, integral in the manufacture of Double T poles, and aimed to increase the production volume and reduce its lead time. The application of MFV and the concepts and techniques of ME resulted in the projection of the elimination of one of the stages of the process and the improvement of the analyzed indicators.

We undertook a retrospective descriptive study to determine the frequency, risk factors and fetal prognosis of umbilical cord procidence at HPGRK. Over a six-year period, 38 cases were collected from 13412 deliveries. The frequency of this condition was 0.28%. The main risk factors identified were: vicious presentation, prematurity, poverty and twin pregnancies. The lower the fetal weight, the more cephalic the presentation and the longer the delay between delivery and extraction, the worse the fetal prognosis. Caesarean section remains the preferred method of delivery. Particular emphasis should be placed on improving evacuation conditions and the immediate management of cases, in order to reduce the foetal mortality rate.

The infrared technique showed that the condensed fraction from the pyrolysis of Acacia Mearncii contains mainly aliphatic, carbonyl and aromatic groups. Gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry enabled us to identify the major constituents of each type of condensate. We thus characterised the constituents of the condensable fraction of this wood obtained by pyrolysis in an inert atmosphere. In addition, by using Acacia Mearncii charcoal as a trap at the reactor outlet for the first time, we were able to obtain new chemical compounds of great industrial interest.

With the rapid technological and industrial development that the world has seen, particularly in construction technology with these huge oil platforms in the depths of the ocean or desert. This requires an adequate load-bearing structural system, capable of distributing forces from one level to another until they reach the foot of the structure, known as the foundation. The important role of deep foundations in transmitting service loads from the superstructure to the deep soil bearing layers has prompted the use of empirical and semi-empirical methods for the axial bearing capacity design of a pile. Alternatively, artificial neural networks (ANNs) have recently been used to predict the ultimate capacity of piles based on in situ tests. Very recently, several researchers have successfully used the RNAs artificial neural network approach for the development of integrated models in conjunction with other probabilistic and evolutionary methods.

The objective of this book is to study the factors that influence the intention to choose Islamic Takaful insurance in Tunisia. To achieve this objective, we carried out a quantitative study based on a model examining the impact of independent variables such as subjective norm, attitude, behavioural control and religion on the dependent variable, behavioural intention. For data collection, we used a questionnaire, which was developed on the basis of a rich literature. A pilot test was conducted to verify the normality, reliability and validity of the scale. The data collected were analysed using correlation tests using SPSS software. This study revealed that attitude, subjective norm and behavioural control have a positive and significant influence on the choice of Islamic Takaful insurance. However, it did not reveal a significant impact of religion on Tunisians' intention to choose this type of insurance. This book is intended for anyone interested in Takaful Insurance.
