Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a multifactorial, heterogeneous pathology characterized by hyperandrogenism, chronic anovulation, the appearance and cystic changes of the ovaries, menstrual disorders and infertility. Polycystic ovary syndrome is a common endocrionopathy, it affects, according to various data, from 5 to 10% of women of childbearing age. In the structure of the causes of infertile marriage, polycystic ovarian syndrome accounts for 20-22%, and among all cases of endocrine infertility, polycystic ovarian syndrome accounts for 56.2%.

This book deals with the cultivation of vegetables, focusing in particular on the Allioideae subfamily, focusing on general characteristics, cultivation from planting to harvest and the necessary marketing standards. This subfamily is made up of the following vegetables: onion (Allium cepa L.), garlic (Allium sativum L.), leek (Allium ampeloprasum L. var. porrum), spring onion (Allium fistulosum and Schoenoprasum L.), shallot (Allium ascalonicum) and rakkyo (Allium chinense L.). The book's authors carried out a bibliographical review based on articles, books and technical communications on the subject in order to gather as much information as possible about these crops.

The aim of this systematisation is to write up the process of linking with society and the development of the experiences lived during the 8th semester in the San Vicente de Pusir Rural Community, with the aim of learning about the intervention of Social Work in the community area with pregnant adolescents, collecting and analysing the information gathered during the research. Adolescent pregnancy is a problem that affects the entire Ecuadorian population, increasing its rates every year. Social, cultural and educational aspects contribute to the increase in these rates, requiring adolescents to fulfil the role of adults and in many cases to abandon their studies, The San Vicente de Pusir Community together with the Health Centre of the parish and the students of the Central University worked to contribute to the reduction of pregnancy rates in the community. As a future Social Worker, I always try to work with the aim of improving the integral wellbeing of priority groups.

Interest in scientific and technical information began in the 1950s, against the backdrop of the Cold War, when scientific research accounted for much of the boom. It was observed, however, that research could only evolve and achieve its full potential if supported by an efficient information system. It was against this backdrop that the concept of scientific and technical information emerged as a discipline for accessing and organizing knowledge. This book presents the results of an investigation into mathematical literacy in riverside schools in the Amazon. Its aim was to investigate theoretical and methodological approaches to the teaching and learning of maths, in the context of mathematical literacy, which could be established in multi-grade classes in riverside schools in the Amazon. From this perspective, the vision of mathematical literacy was constructed taking into account the child's initial reading and writing skills in school mathematical language, but also as a path to learning in the world of different mathematical relationships. The issue of gender in vocational training in Senegal is of crucial importance and deserves special attention. This issue raises key concerns with regard to gender equality, equitable access to education and training, and the empowerment of women in the vocational field.First of all, it is essential to recognize that gender disparities persist in Senegal's vocational training sector. Women often face barriers that limit their access to such training, including restrictive cultural and social norms, family expectations and financial constraints. This situation leads to an inequitable imbalance in women's participation in vocational training, limiting their employment opportunities and economic independence.What's more, even when women do manage to access vocational training, they often face additional challenges. Gender stereotypes persist, which can lead to discrimination and harassment at the training site.

The main objective of this book is to discuss the need to apply subsidies to the tariffs of municipalities without solvency, in order to guarantee economically and financially balanced contracts for the provision of water and sewage services. Folklore with the preservation of local customs and interculturality with inculturation are concerned with the study of nativity scenes, which takes on significance at Christmas time. In addition, the study of nativity scenes is of interest in the preservation and appreciation of cultural-religious competence as an element of the representation of biblical events at Christmas time. The authors present the connection from this dual perspective resulting from their educational biography. The context is seen as enriching the view of a nativity story. The history of the nativity scene, nativity scene concepts and customs in Tyrol are discussed. The cultural-religious dimension and a folkloristic museum study conclude the study, which sets personal priorities and deals with the specialist literature.

The vast majority of what remains of the Atlantic Forest is currently fragmented, often isolated and without any conservation criteria or expansion plans. What's worse, this forest mosaic is little known and studied, both in terms of fauna and flora, making the preservation of this biome even more difficult. The purpose of this study was to fill in one of these gaps. Over a period of 14 months, the presence of wild mammals was studied using three camera traps in a fragment of Atlantic Seasonal Semideciduous Forest of approximately 145 hectares. The results obtained can be said to be surprising due to the diversity observed, especially in the Felidae family, and denote the urgent need for studies in this type of environment and, most importantly, a consolidated way of protecting them.

As a result, there is a greater demand for changes that tend to distribute power, giving strength to institutions and the management success of a leader in an organisation. This research focused on transformational leadership as a strategy to optimise the technical-administrative management of the management staff at the Tinaquillo UNELLEZ; transformational leaders know the emotional needs of their subordinates and stimulate them intellectually. The results showed that it is necessary to propose changes in relation to the leadership style of management staff, so that in this way they can promote more efficient and effective work and results aimed at achieving excellence in administrative management.

This research is characterised as an approach to the process of formulating and implementing public policy on the inclusion of people with disabilities in the labour market. We discuss how this issue was defined as a problem and entered the government agenda. Considering the legislator's decision to enact the Quota Law in 1991, we point out the relevant legislation for hiring people with disabilities, the justifications given by companies for not meeting the quota and the progress that the National Conferences on the Rights of People with Disabilities have made in overturning these allegations. Finally, we present the viewpoint of social organisations that campaign for the rights of people with disabilities, the viewpoint of the government and the viewpoint of the target audience of this policy.

It is nothing new and innovative, but now it will be the education of the future due to the infinite advantages it offers and the ease of integrating work teams globally, the reduction of mobility for travel, access to information, courses, workshops or academic events synchronously or asynchronously, and considerable cost savings.

Demographic ageing is a phenomenon that has been observed all over the world. Although advanced age is not considered a disease, it contributes substantially to health care consumption and costs, and medication accounts for a considerable part of this amount. Elderly people are polymedicated, sometimes having more than one prescriber, and there is no proper monitoring of the management of the therapeutic drug regimen. The polymedication of the elderly is, in fact, a problem that justifies research into adherence to the therapeutic regimen and has motivated growing interest, given the significant repercussions that non-compliance with treatment has on health. The purpose of the research presented in this book was to study the management of and adherence to the therapeutic drug regime of elderly people integrated into integrated home-based long-term care teams in the Algarve region, as well as the factors that condition them.

This book is the result of a study carried out on the Emotional Intelligence skills of nurses in the workplace. Reflecting and writing about the development of emotional competencies in nursing professionals recognizes the importance of the alliance between the disciplines of Nursing, Psychology and Human Resources Management. This text is divided into three parts. In the first part, a brief theoretical exposition is given, where we hope to provide a general understanding of what Emotional Intelligence is and the concepts associated with it, as well as presenting a measuring instrument. The second part summarizes the study carried out in an EPE Hospital in the north of Portugal, where you will find: the assumptions that underpinned the study; the methodological options; the development of the research and an Emotional Intelligence profile that corresponds to the perception of the nurses studied regarding their abilities. Finally, the contributions of this construct to the professional nursing context are presented, in terms of management, training and for the nurses themselves.

This book recounts the experience of a group of trainers and the processes of signification regarding the expression inquiry teaching adopted as the name of a training course, within which the research subjects established tensions and consensus, not only about this expression but also about the possibilities and limits of science education. The theoretical framework adopted is based on Bakhtin and his circle, as well as Bruner's distinction between paradigmatic thinking and narrative thinking and the way in which this author characterizes the modalities of human thought. In order to understand the meanings attributed to this term, we went through the enunciations of the research subjects in the group's collective spaces, in interviews conducted with them and in all the texts written to support the course. The meanings that the subjects construct of the world are related to their experiences, as well as being mediated by a wide variety of texts. For this reason, there were many stories and many tensions in the group. As a result of these tensions, a movement began in search of stabilizing meanings and consensus.

Coping means confronting one situation face to face with another, and the way of doing so throughout life, particularly in conflictive or problematic situations, is known as coping strategies. These strategies depend on multiple situations, ranging from the personality of the individual, his or her educational level, the context in which such situations arise and the level of stress they may generate. The way of handling "risky" situations is very important given the impact and consequences that a poorly managed problem can have on physical, mental, social, family and occupational health. Specifically in the elderly, it is of great relevance since a proper management will allow a better quality of life and achieve the ultimate goal proposed by the World Health Organization (WHO), which is to achieve successful aging. Therefore, in the book we will address basic concepts of coping, coping in the elderly and present the results of research conducted by the authors, as full time Research Professors of the Faculty of Nursing at the Autonomous University of Coahuila, Torreon Unit.

This research reflects on the Teaching and Learning Process (TEP) of reading dissertation-based texts. The problem relates to the difficulties students face in reading/comprehending the text and the strategies used to teach it. The study started with the question: to what extent are reading teaching strategies involved in reading comprehension of the text, guided by the questions: what are the methodological strategies for teaching reading and what models of information processing do students use? The theoretical framework was based on studies on Learning Theory, studies on Reading and Reading Comprehension, studies on argumentation, studies on the Teaching of Reading in Portuguese Language classes and studies on the General Didactics and Teaching of the Portuguese Language. The research was empirical, with an inductive logic approach, a mixed data collection technique and case study procedures, carried out in Nacala-Porto.

Wilson's disease is a rare disease with multiple forms of presentation. High clinical suspicion is required for diagnosis, mainly in young patients. The score proposed by the 8th Wilson's disease meeting in 2001 is a useful diagnostic tool and treatment with D-penicillamine is safe in the long term, however, multidisciplinary management is required to achieve a satisfactory outcome for patients.

The purpose of this study was to analyse the document originating from the technical report of the current management of the Cassiano Campolina Hospital in order to demonstrate the fundamental steps taken to implement a more dynamic people management system, capable of guaranteeing the sustainability of the organisation and the accreditation of the population in user care. To this end, a qualitative descriptive and analytical study was carried out. The analysis of the technical report, built together with the employees of the Cassiano Campolina Hospital, showed that it was possible to implement an efficient management system, regardless of the type of organisational culture, as long as people management is used as a strategy and based on the entrepreneurial profile of the management/leadership.

The pequi tree, native to the Cerrado biome, is adapted to the dry season and poor soils. However, it is believed that under conditions of absence of water deficit and good soil fertility, the plant can develop better than in natural conditions, making its commercial cultivation viable. The aim of this study was therefore to assess the water relations and growth of the pequi tree as a function of irrigation and organic fertiliser.

This study focuses on the work 'A Ilha de São Tomé' by Francisco Tenreiro (1921-1963). Francisco Tenreiro, a graduate of the Escola Superior Colonial and a member of the Center for Geographical Studies at the University of Lisbon, wrote a geographical study of the largest island in the archipelago of São Tomé and Príncipe as his doctoral thesis in Geography. His work was analyzed based on the geographical coding of the scientific narrative and the subsequent thematic recoding of the cartography generated. The main purpose of this study is to highlight the reciprocal influence of the scale of scientific analysis and elements of the author's identity. It is concluded that the work reveals an author with various scales of 'scientific identity'. From this point of view, we can say that Francisco Tenreiro is, at the same time, or alternately, in an identification not always free of hesitations, ambiguities and even strong intimate tensions - a 'colonial/ultramarine officer', a 'European geographer' and a 'humanist from São Tomé'. This work consisted of studying how play is approached in primary schools in the early years. It sought to ascertain the importance of play for children's development, how teachers are prepared and trained to work with and provide play in the classroom and also to record some traditional games and games played in schools, in which data was collected for this work.

In recent decades, the international community has become increasingly alarmed by disasters that, because they affect larger and larger concentrations of people, tend to be more and more destructive. Hurricanes, earthquakes, floods, sea penetrations, electrical discharges, droughts and forest fires continue to scourge humanity. Natural disasters have been, and will continue to be, major threats to sustainable development, as resources for development are lost when a disaster causes the results of an investment to disappear. A new loss in resources is produced as a consequence of a decrease in the production of goods and services.
