There are many books and articles written on how to reconcile. They offer information as to how the broken parent should speak to promote healing. But what if your adult child refuses to engage? The alternative option is to move on and let go. But healing the wound of adult child estrangement is messy and complicated. There are good days and bad. Christine shares the reality of the work it takes to see the forest for the trees. This book goes deep into the life of the author, and how it feels to be silenced as a mother. Employers in all sectors and in every developed country are confronted by mounting job vacancies that are impeding economic growth. The vacancies also affect government operations. A deeply entrenched problem in the world's youth-oriented society is ageism. That is treating older people differently from others based on assumptions or stereotypes related to their age. It influences employment, cultural settings, and politics. Research shows the assumptions are not valid, but too often employers rely on stereotypes and deny older workers training and promotion opportunities. Work cultures are too often unhealthy.The negative effects of ageism have been the focus of critical reports from the UN, the OECD, and the World Economic Forum. It's a global problem. Sunflower Seeds is a collection of poems and short stories that were written over the span of several years, from elementary school to high school, and has been repeatedly refined and elaborated upon over time. In particular, the titular poem "Sunflower Seeds" is about struggling with and overcoming the isolation and loneliness that comes with growing up in a new environment. At a young age, Sophie left behind the world she had always known-composed of her friends, family, and home-and moved to Canada, a strange new country she had never even heard of. While she struggled at first to communicate verbally with new classmates and teachers, she never stopped writing. As we focus on the bright side of life, we often forget that everything has two sides. One side is generally less desirable than the other. This book is a challenge to briefly exam the darker side of what can be the lives of women and especially children. Can you relate to any of these situations? I bet you can. In the beginning when I first started writing the Chef's Corner stories, articles, and memories, I included a recipe with each and every story. Over the years that has added up to over 200 recipes. In The Ramblings of an Old Man, Book 1, I included the original recipe attached to each story published. In Book 2; however, I wanted to increase the number of stories so I decided to print only one of my favorite recipes for each month.
