  • - A Poetic Journey Upon the Sea of Life
    von Raymond Sylvester
    20,00 €

Its lifeline floats aimlessly beside,as if mourning the loss of a soul at sea.A knot, improperly tied to a life raft releases. The mariner and his only means of survivalare sent adrift to fight the desolateand turbulent sea—the sea wins! The poet, Raymond Sylvester, stresses the importance of living life as securely as the knot one has tied. Life cannot be almost lived; a knot cannot be almost tied. His poetry will provide the guidance needed to ensure one’s lifeline is as strong and secure as possible. Words cast upon a page are as powerful as the third splice. When splicing a line, the fourth splice adds no more strength to the line than the third, although it adds protective value should the last splice fail.Raymond Sylvester lives in Branford, Connecticut, with his loving wife Terri and their cat Boots. His poem “War” won the gold medal in the patriotic division of the 2018 National Creative Arts Competition and his poem “The Darkness of War” won silver in the 2019 competition. His poems are personal yet universal.

My name is Bruce McGowan, and contrary to everyone''s belief, I have not yet gone away. Remember when Saddam Hussein was suspected of having weapons of mass destruction, but then the U.N.''s inspectors found no evidence of them? Even though the American President, not at all convinced, subsequently invaded Iraq and fought a lengthy war over them, the world remained convinced the weapons never existed in the first place. Nonetheless, a dozen years after the inspections, I was taken prisoner by a former MI-6 mad man named Alistair Chalmers who knew for a fact they existed. As he also knew of my reputation as a counterterrorist operative, code name Scorpion, by threatening to kill my Scottish cousins who he was holding, I was coerced to go on a search for the weapons. If I found these nuclear and chemical devices and placed them into his hands, he stood to net millions by selling them to Iran. But, where were the WMDs? Chalmers believed they were shipped to Yemen. I had two weeks to find them or my cousins would die. It would prove to be my most dangerous undertaking.

  • - Gui Gu Zi

    19,00 €

Gui Gu Zi, or Wisdom of the Ghost Valley in modern English, is a compilation of Daoism philosophy and Persuasion Techniques, which were written about 2,400 years ago. Though the exact author is still a topic of debate among scholars, several trustworthy evidences points to the fact that a hidden sage, whose name was Wang Xu, lived in the ghost valley (modern He Nan in China) and composed this book that incorporated Daoism, School of Naturalists, and School of Diplomacy. Perhaps due to his belief on secrecy and mysteriousness, he meditated in solitude. However, it is said that he lived for more than one hundred years and was the mentor to some of the most distinguished political and military figures in the Warring States Period in ancient China. Su Qin, Zhang Yi, Sun Bin, and Pang Juan, to name a few. A few chapters of Gui Gu Zi is now lost due to ages, but numerous Chinese intellectuals in the past have read and annotated it. For some, it was a priceless treatise on military and diplomatic strategies that can dominate the world if used appropriately. But for others, it was nothing more than a flattering scum''s pocketbook on manipulation and deception. I, as a translator, did my best to articulate each arcane word in ancient Chinese to break down the barrier of the past and present, assess its current meanings and implications, and present it in an easy and understandable way for Western audiences. This book is ideal for all people who wish to succeed in their lives and comprehend human psychology to use it as a razor-sharp edge in all relationships.

    von Bob Bestvina

Boomer is a memoir that captures many of the life experiences of baby boomers, but especially the author's: unsupervised playtime as children, dealing with family crises, going to college, questionable college pranks, the changing role that women would play, and raising the next generation. Along the way, the author shares his quest to land the girl of his dreams and come to grips with how his background shaped the actions and decisions that guided his life. Strong women played a key role in the author's story as they transitioned from being stay-at-home moms to filling dual roles in many families-working full time jobs, as well as running their homes. The author concludes his memoir with what is really important in life: faith, family and friendships.

  • - A Declaration of Independence
    von Donald Moriarty O'Leary
    24,00 €

There always seemed to be an adventure to be had and a story to be told, written or remembered! Pursuing a dream to travel, see amazing places, meet wonderful people from all walks of life, and sharing thoughts and experiences in my journals was the best way to memorialize it! Starting in my early youth, fantasizing about travel and adventure from books, movies to re-enacting them with make shift forts, rafts, and friends, a little "Walter Mitty-esque"! It was amazing to read our old encyclopedias, looking at world history and maps, learning about legendary figures! I wanted to be a writer, an artist, a singer, an athlete...lead a cavalry charge, swing from tree to tree, climb the highest peaks, cross the great divide, etc...endless dreams. At the age of 17, I was fully grown and asserting my young adulthood, with a say in my life decisions about my future education, activities, and travel! One of my best friends and I took off for NYC, Boston, and Walden Pond the summer before our senior year in high school for a TRULY awakening experience!!! A year later in college at Alfred State together with some other friends, 2 years later off to Arizona State with another friend, back east to SUNY Oswego, Outward Bound program in North Carolina and ultimately off to Bruges, Belgium to end my senior year of college and beyond... Did I say MIND-BLOWING, 5 years later and 22... on roads less traveled!Come join the ride and or continue on your own journey!!!

Perception is a powerful thing. Everything in your life reflects how you perceive things to be. Whether right or wrong. What we see is not always what is happening. It's just a figment of your imagination. We perceive life based on our limited belief system, expectations, and experiences. If you want a different outcome in life, change your perception. We perceive things based on the dimension of our expanded consciousness. We can only see as far as the mind's eye has awareness, clarity, and understanding. More scale. More scope. Frustrated perception leads to inadequate assumptions and inaccurate conclusions. Your life reflects your ability to process the future from God's perspective. Perception is reality. As you are in thoughts and feelings so are you in words and deeds. The power of perception can make you a master over your destiny. Never underestimate the power of it.
