The year is 1618, and the Christian world stands, once again, on a knife's edge. The once great Holy Roman Empire, like most of the rest of Europe, is divided along religious, political, and economic lines - pitting Catholics against Protestants, princes against monarchs, and the rich against the poor. And a war unlike anything Europe has ever seen is growing increasingly inevitable... Destined to be caught up in the coming conflict are two very beautiful but very different women. Lady Atlantis Vanessa von Stormsong is the only child of a wealthy Catholic Archduke, while poor ¿arlatová is a Protestant thief who knows practically nothing of her past. These two strangers share a strong faith in the same God, but their respective attempts to find peace in a world dominated by violent and powerful men will lead them straight into the abyss of a war that will tear Europe apart for the next thirty years.

Look to the Birds and Be Leisurely Unoccupied is an interactive prayer devotional that invites the reader to explore and engage with Scripture and prayer to edify faith and trust in God. We're ensured by the verse in Matthew 6:26 that as the Father provides for the birds, and He will provide for His people, too. God is the ultimate Provider. Just as encouraging, the Psalmist of the Old Testament offers courage in Psalm 46:9-10, that God is the Problem-Solver and will be victorious in any battle that needs fighting. His people need only "be leisurely (peaceful) unoccupied (without care)" and know that He is God. The end result is experiencing life of unprecedented peace, just like the birds.

Footprints is a collection of poems that were either written or revised recently or recalled from work begun and lost fifty years before. Some recall pleasant memories of my beloved Veronica and some her later struggles with ill health. She was born and grew up in Dublin and Ireland remained a special place for both of us. The DART from Howth to Greystones "tunnels under Queen V's crown and pops out for the view above Killiney Bay" where "the magic face of Ireland is found." We met and married in Syracuse. Events and places from that time are featured in some of the poems. Newtown Plus Five was written shortly after news coverage of the fifth anniversary of the Sandy Hook school massacre. An Elegy for One and Many commemorates the life of a friend the victims of the Pittsburgh synagogue rampage who died during the same period of time. Many of the poems are written in traditional verse forms and rhyme schemes.A number of poems reflect concerns about America: the face it presents to the world and the state of its democracy. Ode from a Colonial Bowl recounts a family history of its founding.Flint where "once-upon-a-time America coursed through (its) leaden arteries to nurse its middle class." In Vietnam "we've grown old, some fifty years removed from when our universe was rolled into a white-hot ball," to find the common threads we shared in youth to pursue our common legacy. American Graffiti asks, "Can Cicero and Caesar coexist within republican constraint?"Let Freedom Ring calls upon us to answer "the distant bells of freedom pealing " in Ukraine. The challenge is to understand how both poems can be compatible in our logic.

A JAMAICAN LADY is a work of fiction based in truth. It is a story about two people who are from different races, different backgrounds, different countries and different eras. Still, Tiana and Phillip develop a special relationship during a time of enormous grief. The story takes place in St. Augustine, Florida, the oldest permanently settled community in the United States and the place where Spanish slaves brought to Florida by Pedro Menéndez de Avilés worked and lived. The book touches deeply on the loss of a spouse and how wonderful professional caregivers can be in helping people through end-of-life processes. For all of us, life as we now know it will end, but death does not have to be feared. True love for another lives on in our hearts forever. Tiana and Phillip work to piece together the stories of their ancestors, including Tiana's seven-great grandfather, a second-generation slave who escaped from a South Carolina plantation. Tiana believes and seeks to confirm that he joined the British army to gain his freedom and moved to Jamaica following America's War of Independence. A JAMAICAN LADY also recounts the history of slavery in the Caribbean that began with the first voyage of Christopher Columbus. It chronicles the magnitude and abuses of the slave trade and how its impacts have never been adequately acknowledged and discussed. History is both fact and teacher. Mindful of what can happen, we will ensure that the rule of law protects us all so that slavery never happens again.

"Infinity" by Leonard Zimmerman, MD. The country Truman is on planet #3 in another galaxy. The planet is an identical copy of Earth in our galaxy, and Truman has the same geography, atmosphere, water, people, and history as the U.S. Because Truman was headed for decline, much in the same way the U.S. appears to be now, the experts in Evolutionary Psychology decided to implement a comprehensive program to educate the populace in the understanding of how all human nature is the product of these principles. It was taught in the schools. They were successful, turning hatred and jealousy into kindness and altruistic thinking. The Golden Rule was resurrected and people followed it. People felt content and fulfilled. They were happy. The elders of Truman decided some mature, high functioning adults undergo a process to stop their aging process. It required an intergalactic journey. Max Brand was one who was chosen. His journey went awry and he ended up on Earth, 4000 years ago. He befriended and assisted Abraham. Because of previously unknown time-space anomaly, he eventually came to live in The U.S. during present times. MAX QUICKLY SAW THE U.S. WAS IN WORSE SHAPE THAN TRUMAN WAS BEFORE IT INSTITUTED ITS EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM. This felt intolerable to him as knew if did not have to be that way. He sought psychiatric help. Jessie Genkins and Max Brand agreed to devote the rest of their lives to educating the population of the U.S. about how Evolution, properly understood, would explain, the ROOT CAUSES of our trouble. MAX went public. The media was captivated. He and Jessie attended many public forums for debate. They addressed most of the major issues, which without the benefit of Evolutionary understanding, were misleading people about causation of problems. Detailed, scientific but practical, explanations were provided how certain feelings, beliefs, and behavior were due to misunderstanding of what an evolutionary mechanism was "designed" to accomplish. THE MAJOR EVOLUTIONARY CONCEPTS PRESENTED AND DEBATED WERE: LOSS-The major emotions engendered sadness, depression, and anger-the evolutionary purpose -for it not to happen again-to preserve life. STEREOTYPING, PREDJUDICE, RACISM-evolution built pattern recognition to preserve life-people or things that had similar patterns helped a human to decide if something was safe or dangerous-we all do it-prejudge to stay alive, but we often prejudge unfairly-we need to know when we are doing it so as to act fairly. HEROES AND LEADERS-we are willing to give up autonomy to get a better benefit. We give those more educated or physically competent power over us so as to protect us and loved ones better than we would be able ourselves. ALTRUISM-GOOD WILL TOWARDS ALL-THE GOLDEN RULE-we have done best when we cooperate-if we are kind to others, they will likely be kind to us when we are in need. MORAL RULES TO LIVE BY-The evolutionary mechanisms in our brains let us know it is almost always better to cooperate, rather than be harmed or die. Compete fairly. POLITICAL PHILOSOPHY-do not be misled by the comfort of voting for someone who will simply protect what you have. It may be wiser to give up more than you might prefer, and to select one whose goal is fairness and what is best for society. GOD and INFINITY-They share a sense of awe, grace, perfection, and power but also of unknowability.

Along the way he was bitten by snakes, screamed at by sheriffs, maligned by politicians and ultimately had 'poop in his shoe' from his own dog. Over four decades, he never once missed writing his weekly column. For more than 2,200 consecutive weeks he told the stories of his community. Some were funny, some were sad and a few put Mulligan in the hospital. In Out the Window, you can enjoy some of the best.

"Superbly written and spellbinding...This well-plotted novel explores betrayal and trust, and the many facets of love-even its humorous side-that emerge when a family struggles with profound change. Author Ceone Fenn has created a memorable character showing us how to reclaim a life worth living. Fascinating and highly recommended. Five stars." ~ Christine DeSmet, bestselling/award-winning writer, writing coach, Distinguished Faculty Associate of writing at University of Wisconsin-Madison "We become allies with Luella Laurent when her husband, a celebrated college coach, is arrested for molesting boys at their lakefront basketball camp. With compelling compassion, Ceone Fenn weaves the agonizing tale of Luella's emotional stages as she finds herself ostracized by her community, harassed at her teaching job, mistrusted by her daughter, and distanced from her grandson. Alienated and overwhelmed with the responsibility of becoming the sole caregiver for her husband's intellectually disabled sister, Luella has no one to confide in besides her reliable hair stylist, Trudy. The characters in It Happened at Whisper Lake are believable and multi-layered-human-the best and the worst of us and Fenn handles the tough topic like a glass sculptor-melting, refining, and annealing until fragile beauty emerges from the horrific circumstances. The reader will never forget the complicated impact an accused criminal's actions have on those who love them." ~ Bibi Belford, Author of Crossing the Line-A Christopher Award Winning Novel
