A Collection of 130 PoemsRonald Cohen was born in Cairo, Egypt, raised in Tel-Aviv Israel and educated in the United States. He has a B.A ad M.A in Literature from the University of California, Los Angeles. Ronald has published poetry in both English and Hebrew in various publications and newspapers. He is the author of "The Talking Oak Tree" and "Mastering the Hebrew Alphabet in Ten Easy Lessons". He retired in 2016 after 47 years of teaching.

So, I write, hoping that my passion on the page will encourage others to express buried emotions, "A bankrupt heart is a barren place" so, I write.

Young journalist Tanímò̩la investigates the story of ''they mystery man in the woods'' at Abà Kòsas̩ègbé, rumored to be the notorious moneylender Laiyemo̩ of Agbajó̩ town. Tanímò̩la''s family is intimately tied to the story, as his grandfather, Náyà, was neighbor, childhood friend and rival of Laiyemo̩, and Laiyemo̩''s father, notorious pirate È̩rùjè̩jè̩, had swindled Náyà''s father of his home and land. Tanímò̩la''s investigation takes him to a rundown hut, where an invalid Laiyemo̩ lies, his past sins destroying him from the inside out. Laiyemo̩ tells Tanímò̩la that, though he was jealous of Náyà when they were younger, he remembers him as kind and wishes he had followed his advice to avoid pride. Laiyemo̩ reveals his vision of the three bundles - destiny, fate and karma - and tells Tanímò̩la to learn the rest of his story from his benefactor, T''e̩nibè̩gí. T''e̩nibè̩gí''s tale begins with young Laiyemo̩ as the prideful leader of his e̩gbé̩ (age group). He was the son of the richest man in town. Laiyémò̩''s father, È̩rùjè̩jè̩, gained his wealth from piracy and then took over the town as a moneylender. Greatly feared and hated by all, he was ostracized. He isolated himself on an island farm far from others. He was found dead after a mysterious visitation by seven bats and seven owls. Days after his funeral, his henchman and a crone were seen conducting a ritual over his grave. When Laiyémò̩ took over the moneylending business, he destroyed the town of Agbajó̩. Almost all in town were indebted to him; many sold themselves into slavery to him to save their families. The town faced famine and great poverty. During the town''s Centenary Anniversary celebrations, Laiyémò̩''s e̩gbé̩ led a ''show of shame'', where they fed currency into the cooking fire for the feast. The e̩gbé̩ danced and sang, ''We are fully satisfied. Who cares that some are hungry.''

Can a man and a woman be solely Platonic in their interactions together or does physical attraction or jealousy play havoc upon it? "Julio and Miss Sorciere" deals with the well intentions of a high minded female teacher and her love for poetry. In her attempt to bring that beautifully profound art form to her impoverished, immigrant students does she lose sight of what is of greater importance in her life and those she wishes to enlighten? "Like Father Like Son" pursues the idea of hereditary and its influence in one''s becoming. "The Artist" touches upon loss and its sad effect upon an individual. Can art''s seeming cathartic power re-create the phoenix and its rise from the ashes? Does suffering need to occur for one to produce a visionary piece which touches upon the deepest, heartfelt elements of the soul? "Getting Fired" shows the heartlessness of the corporate world as downsizing for profit effects a young man who must deal with the sudden change in his life. It brings about a reassessing of what is of true value to him. "A Morning with Obisi Loasteame" puts a full figured individual at the center of the story. His struggles are of no less importance than those of any other. In its entirety this intricately constructed anthology threads together many interrelated themes as the author touches upon the imperfections of what truly makes one human. The characters'' struggles and discoveries are everyone''s as they attempt to understand what works in the need to get to the heart of the unending desire to find worth in one''s life.

This world of poetry is very new to me. In fact, I don''t call what I do poetry, It''s just my stuff. Writing my stuff was absolute therapy for me. My journey began at the end of what was the perfect relationship, or so I thought. I discovered that time and people do change, I was of the impression that things could always be worked out. Nevertheless, I found myself in the grips of my self-imposed loneliness induced by factors beyond my control. Thus, in the beginning I wrote five letters trying to salvage what wasn''t salvageable. Then things just started moving into other directions as I began writing my stuff. I truly allowed God to move in me and take control of my life. This gave me the freedom to create my stuff and promote the power of words through the change that was happening in me. This was pivotal and most important as I began the journey from Desperation to Inspiration. That is to say, little did I know that the process of writing my stuff would be the beginning of my healing experience. I further discovered that all things in life are a process. The players may change or come and go but the continuation of episodes in 3D never ends. This collection of stuff is certainly my process, my hopes, my desperations and, my inspirations. I truly pray that you the reader will enjoy my stuff, and gain knowledge as your process continues, and you become you.

In ''The Awry Murder'', a murder plot backfires when a jealous woman, long in love with the O̩ba, attempts to poison him and his new bride but instead poisons herself. ''The "Mystery Man" in the Cemetery'' questions the role of wealth and opulence in the afterlife and tells the story of a curse placed upon the descendants of a pirate who was killed many years before. In ''Glimpses into the Great Beyond'', a committee chosen to translate Yorùbá proverbs contemplates the phrase àdàbi jà ó ju èpè lo̩ (repaying good with evil is worse than a curse) and discusses the existence of God and the afterlife. ''The Presence'' is the author''s own journey alongside a silent presence that reveals to him the beauty of nature and the ways in which God speaks through it.

Freddy raced through the thickening forest of trees and high foliage, the slapping blades of plants and vegetation whisking against the fusion of denim, suede, and miniaturized, tuned, square metallic reflective panes fashioning his pants; the sound of jangling chimes accompanying him as the plant life rubbed across the blended materials. Most times it was a sound enjoyed, part of their appeal. He wasn''t so found of it now, would step out of them as quickly as he could if he could spare the moment, but they sounded close. Probably the clatter of his pants helping them track him, he''d spare the time. Pushing off from the tree he''d used to steady himself as he''d stepped out of them, he realized day had rotated to night without notice, his mind on nothing but escape since his error in judgment just under half an hour prior. He''d been running since and didn''t know how much longer he''d be able to go on. He was in great shape, due to his dancing and health regimen, but running for your life through a darkening woodland was a singular type of running.

If all Pedestrians, Motorcyclist, Bicyclist, and Drivers obeyed the law, accidents would be greatly reduced. I have driven over 3 million miles in the western part of the United States, I have been involved in 4 car accidents, of which two were my fault, they happened when I was young and thought I had all the answers in another words I was stupid. I not only drive defensively; I am able to predict events before they happen. I watch trends and I am able to predict events in front, behind, and both sides of my car.I haven''t driven much in snow yet my tips and perception of the four main categories will work everywhere; in snow all drivers need to slow down and be even more careful. When you can recognize what stupid people are going to do, you might be able to avoid having an accident.
