    25,00 €

In 1961, Charles Gallagher graduated from the Naval Academy at the age of 20. • - Gutsy Resilient Insightful Tenacious (Roadmap to Success)
    von Wole Oladiyun
    28,00 €

Developing grit is essential for anyone who desires to succeed in life. Quite a number of people assume that being talented or skilled, or that being geniuses or intellectuals automatically guarantee that they will be successful. Can you recollect a genius in your school days who isn't doing as good as you all thought he would back then? Attaining success is more about passion and perseverance than it is about talent and intellect. Grit is simply you have a "never give up approach" to life and living. It is you having a "hang-in-there-despite-all" attitude to plans and purposes. The story of success may begin with talent and know-how, but it is sustained by Grit. In this book, Oladiyun tells his grit story and reveals to us how guts, resilience, insight and tenacity play vital roles in attaining success. You should read it!

  • - Lessons From the Bedside for America's Leaders
    von Nate Link
    27,00 €

A NATION IN DISTRESSAmerica has enjoyed an enviable life. Yet, in recent years, there have been unmistakable signs of chronic illness. Our economic progress has fallen off its once-blistering pace, our ability to shape world events has been checked, and our vaunted democratic institutions have begun to collapse around us. America is ailing. Now, here we are, nearly forty years into a chronic illness that has resisted our best efforts at diagnosis. Is this the cancer of our advancing age? The long, slow, terminal decline that will defy the best approaches of modern Medicine? Our fitful end? Not necessarily. In the past four decades, American hospitals have garnered principles of safety from the aviation industry, gathered tips about quality from automobile manufacturers, and gleaned insights into customer service from the hotel trade. These interstellar innovations launched American healthcare into a continuously self-improving model of advancing performance. As such, the world of Medicine has valuable assets to offer the political multiverse: A culture of excellence. Intellectual tools to diagnose and treat difficult problems. A systematic approach that guides almost everything we say and do, yet is seldom employed in the chambers of government. And now it is time to pay it forward. In this collection of riveting stories from patient narratives and leadership challenges - from heartbreaking tales of AIDS, to a harrowing evacuation during Superstorm Sandy, to the exhilarating conquest of Ebola - Dr. Nate Link translates a lifetime of experience into useful lessons for our nation's leaders. To review these examples, he takes us to the bedside of his most memorable cases. We will learn from Natalie, the well-meaning ICU nurse who ignored the ventilator alarm, Juan, the irrepressible AIDS patient who had nine lives, Gerry, the bemused accountant whose brain could not store new memories, and Thomas, the accidental tourist who was raised from the dead. Two dozen other notable patients will teach us additional lessons in leadership. In the final chapter, our lessons will jointly lead us to a most unexpected conclusion and a prescription for the cure of our nation's mysterious malady.Dr. Link is the Chief Medical Officer of Bellevue, America's oldest public hospital, and has practiced there since arriving as a lowly intern at the onset of the AIDS epidemic. He earned his MD from Washington University School of Medicine in 1983, then completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at NYU School of Medicine and Bellevue Hospital in 1986. Dr. Link was Co-Chief Editor of the "Bellevue Guide to Outpatient Medicine," winner of the American Medical Writers Association award as Book of the Year for Physicians in 2001.

  • von Speicher Margaret Speicher
    23,00 €

My name is Margaret Speicher, author of my first book entitled, "Love...One Lump or Two " Although I have always had a life-long dream to write a book, I never thought that I would ever accomplish this seemingly impossible task. However, dreams sometimes come true - and for me, it took divine intervention! It all happened one evening when I was awakened in the middle of the night with the idea of writing a book. I recall contemplating an appropriate topic and title for my book, in addition to the various chapter headings and content, which surprisingly flowed very easily from my thoughts. Maybe this was my destiny!Upon awakening the next morning fully motivated by my newest endeavor, I immediately jotted down my thoughts from the previous night's ideas for a book and began composing my thoughts onto paper. Thus, an inspiring story developed about my humorous and entertaining challenges and opportunities (bumps) that this determined blonde with a definite sense of humor and temporary misguided sense of direction from a recent divorce encountered. In passionate pursuit for my soul mate, "Mr. Right", my journey began with the chapter on "The Date from Hell" involving many unforeseen happenings on an attention-grabbing double date through the chapter on "Dating 101" describing fresh ideas and methods of surviving the singles' scene and meeting suitable men and more leading to "Mr. Wonderful", my perceived soul mate from God - or was he?I truly felt that writing and publishing this inspiring and entertaining book was inspired by the Holy Spirit and that my experiences and determination in the singles' world could help others undergoing similar problems in finding love and living alone. This is my reason for pursuing the publication of my work, remembering that "If God takes you to it; He will get you through it!"

In Zerocuse we follow Jimmy who's lost his family, his sense of home, as he heads back to his 20-year high school reunion to reconnect with ... something, anything. Both elegiac and light-hearted, Zerocuse is a multilayered story about the relative value of nostalgia, the unreliability of memory, and the power of reconnection. It also has a lot of swearing, probably too much, but you'll just have to deal with that part of it.

  • - Segregation, Tolerance, and Reflection: A Four-Generation African-American Educational Struggle
von Jerry L Jones Ed D
    20,00 €

Go and Come Again begins with a focus on the history and culture of a small town in Southwest Virginia during the era of segregated schools and the concurrent Jim Crow mind-set. The first chapters analyze the various struggles of the author's family, selected teachers and students, and the transitions of the early 1960s. Later chapters detail the author's experiences at a historically black college as well as his work experiences as a high school teacher, a professor at a community college, and a professor at a small, church-affiliated liberal arts college which is located near his birthplace. Additionally, the author chronicles his own personal journey-from his early days as the younger son of a single mother who struggled financially to his later profile as author, local politician, church musician, lay speaker, community leader, and educator.Even though the Supreme Court decision of 1954, Brown v. the Board of Education, ruled that racially separate school systems should be ended, it was not until 1965 that this happened in Washington County, Virginia, the county where Jerry Jones was born. Moreover, the shortcomings of public school education for African Americans existed for generations. In his book, Go and Come Again, Jones details the public school experiences of his grandmother's generation, his mother's generation, and his own generation. As a teacher in the fast-changing area of computer literacy, the author devotes significant attention to his desire for graduate study and other opportunities for continuing education. He also analyzes the factors which have contributed to the many successes of Southwest Virginia blacks who left their hometown areas for education and employment. The extent to which one struggles to care for an elderly parent is a topic which brings an array of emotions to the surface. With no other siblings to assist in his mother's final years, Jones had the challenge of being the sole caregiver until her death at age 93-an event which still casts a shadow on his own perceptions of love and family. Delicately, he outlines the key events of that time in his life and his belief that his own life continues to have meaning and that living alone should not be feared.

They owned a beautiful house, had many friends, and her parents adored Reggie. On spring break, while on a family trip to Nancy''s grandmother''s beachfront condo in Palm Beach, Florida, Nancy asked her mother for advice. She was told that she should waste no time in setting up some counseling sessions as soon as she got home.. Nancy said she would. Now, three months later, Nancy was back at her grandmother''s condo with her divorce papers in hand. Her school term was over and she was anxious to get away from everybody. She had her own secret she hadn''t revealed to anyone. Decisions had to be made soon, and the rest of her life hung in the balance.

  • - His Personal Story of the Flowers
    von Phil Trapp
    19,00 €

Humans are always drawn to flowers – for joy, for love, for meaning, and for connection with the natural world. In “Grandfather’s Legacy…”, we have met the narrator before – as the beloved and wise Grandfather who shares his views of humanity in “Did the Smarter Apes Stay in the Trees?” The current book is a treasure trove of writings on flowers collected (and some written) by Grandfather and discovered by his Grandson after his death in a box in the attic . This eclectic and unorganized collection of facts, fables, and folklore about “earth stars” (his name for flowers) included stories from mythology, poems celebrating flowers over the millennia, and tales of the intricate language of flowers seen in the Victorian Age. Together, the assorted writings reflected what Grandson knew to be his Grandfather’s passion for flowers and their role in human history and the world today – in effect, his legacy. Grandfather claimed, “Flora…[are]…truly a culture-free language, understood by the young and old, the dull and the bright, the saint and the sinner, all over the known worldwide.” So for lovers of flowers, this book enriches our understanding of flowers. The selection of poems and myths about flowers is a uniquely personal perspective on the meaning of flowers over the ages.  And there is more. Because Grandfather had firm convictions about the state of the world and an ironic, humorous approach to sharing his views, the writings are embellished by his own whimsical fictions. These begin with erstwhile graduate student and the discovery of Adam’s diary (and the real story of Adam, Eve, and Eden, the First Garden) and ending with a talking woodchuck who reenacted in a mini-drama a conference of the flowers discussing the endangered species Homo sapiens.  As an author, Trapp provides a unique voice and a distinctive writing style that challenges our thinking and adds to our knowledge.

  • - How Women's Suffering Reveals The Plan God
    von Charles Stephenson
    22,00 €

In this era of diminishing moral values and the promotion of inclusivity, it is relevant to draw attention to the wrongly perceived concept of gender equality. The fact is that it is always firmly tilted in favor of one gender. Solidifying the uncompetitive advantage to one and the unfair disadvantage to the other. With the dramatic rise of technology and the rapid growth of social media, replacing direct interaction between humans, it is crucial to expand the conversation about which gender is most likely to be the one disadvantaged, and undoubtedly it is the female.Charles has spent countless hours counseling and grooming ladies from all cultures and persuasion to appreciate their worth better and avoid the trap of marginalization. Hence a community of resilience women fighting to overcome stereotypes and maintain their worth, pride, and dignity.  The pain of knowing the treatment these ladies have to endure at the hands of men has become an obsession for him for a very long time.In this book, he chronicled a series of events that he hope will awake the reader's consciousness to the problems and sow a seed of discontent that would hopefully lead to more awareness. He was careful to underscore the difference between how we view suffering through the natural from what God intended it to produce.  Being a man and writing about the issues of the female, he completely debunks the theory that promotes gender exclusivity ( only who feels it knows it). He focuses on the notion that there is much more to the woman than mere sexual propensity. As the hand made of divine creation, we carry God's divine DNA, and as such, we should look at each other as an extension of each other. He writes from a layman perspective with a deep sense of emotion and spiritual insight into the possible causes of women suffering. It is a fact that our ladies carry the burdens of producing the next person, yet she has to endure unbearable agony as a Silent Suffer. The reader will not only be made aware of how God sees suffering, but they will be conscious of Jesus’s methodical dismantling of all religious and cultural barriers that confine the woman to the rules of a male-dominated system. God is the one who gave the woman to the man, and through a systematical and strategic approach, He takes back His gift and shelters her under the protective wings of divine providence. With no claim to fame, he draws on his year's experience and passion in giving readers a comprehensive and insightful perspective into the world of the woman as a Silent Suffer. The writer hopes the reader will begin to see the faults, weaknesses, mistakes,  and shortcomings of the woman as a cry for love and adoration, and not the fruit of a desperate underperformer as the misguided mind would want us to believe. The main objective of this book is to refocus the cultural, natural, and educational assessment of women and why they are the way they are to one of more spiritual predestination.

  • - From the Heart of a Woman
    von Kathryn Carrington
    19,00 €

Like a Pandora's Box, I will open my mind to great things seen of many life times of dreams Sisters, if you've lived life and have experienced love, lost, happiness, heartache and pain, brothers if you want to know what's really on a sister's mind and in her heart, then check out these "Poems from the Heart of a Woman" Shall I worry about what you think of me or shall I allow my soul to be free of your thoughts and moods that drain my energy, and hinder the expansion and growth of the food of life that I eat plenty of, as I inhale and then exhale the bread and meat and drink of the ocean, adding the air, to sweeten its taste. Shall I worry about how you look at me, with your watchful eyes and your self righteous thoughts that take up my precious space and time, which is of essence for a soul such as mine, eager to learn and to know the things that the universe does not make obvious to the consciousness. Shall I be so worried that you would read what I put down on paper, that which is in my heart and head, that which is from my spirit, exposing what is inside of me. Shall I worry that you would not like what you hear, read, and see, or shall I just be me, ignoring the fact that your odiousness is apparent and unforgiving. Will I ever let you know what I am truly feeling inside or shall I hide my thoughts from the world; a world I will so freely give of myself, as I often do, not caring or worrying about what any soul thinks of me; for I am free, totally free of the bondage of others wishing to toss me a rope, that I dare not take. I do not wish to tie knots around my mind, my soul, my heart or my spirit. And you ask me what it feels like to be free? Read on my dear precious one and you shall see the freedom in words, expressed through a woman's wisdom taught from the experiences of life. Http: //outskirtspress.com/carringtonbooks

I have an extensive work background in engineering and powerplant operations and management. My education includes a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Science in Management. I grew up in a family of eight with four sisters and a brother. I’m married and have four children of my own. The places where I have lived include Massachusetts, New York, New Hampshire, and Michigan. I also spent quite a bit of time at a cabin I built in Vermont. I have traveled extensively throughout the US and Canada. This story has been in creation for more than ten years. There are two topics of conversations I would periodically hear that bugged me. The first is that that constitution is outdated and should be replaced. Nothing is further from the truth. In fact, its exact wording is more applicable and important today than it ever has been. As technologies become available to know everything about you and digital information controls your life, limited government and preeminence of individual rights are the foundation for the preservation of humanity. The second is that aliens will visit in flying saucers; make a limited appearance so we just get a glimpse of them and then return home. That is illogical on many important levels. First, their transport ship may be bigger than the solar system or smaller than the head of a pin. If a visit ever happens, it will not be in a vessel sized for an earth mammal. Furthermore, if the resources are invested to get here, any visit will not be trivial and brief. In watching old movies, I was inspired by the innovation of Western Union. The concept struck me that the best way to get something somewhere is to already have it there. In other words, the best way to get money from someone on the east coast to the west coast is to already have the money on the west coast. The money can be delivered at the speed of light instead of the speed of a horse. To be successful, it doesn’t have to be the same money. It just needs to be a functional equivalent. An extrapolation of that concept might apply to alien beings. Maybe the best way to get to earth is to already be here….
