It has been a while since I have had the privilege of coming in contact with a book that left me exhilarated and wanting for more. Gorfu, with his uncommon insight and originality delved deep into the recesses of Nietzsche's ailing soul and exposed the person of Nietzsche for what he is, at best a charlatan and anti-philosopher or at worst the ravings of an egotistic masked egomaniac. I believe Nietzsche and his world has been irreparably damaged and debunked by this essay, any contemporary "philosopher" worth his/her salt would be best served to seriously analyze and interpret what Gorfu is offering-an original dialectical scalpel-in the process of human reasoning and inquiry in the current 21st century. What did it for me, was Gorfu's analysis of Lutheranism and that "odd" impotence of action, I found that part to be truly exceptional. Those kinds of insights could only have come from a non "western" thinker. Many thanks is due the author even for that specific information. I strongly urge academia to take heed. ...it was simply a book one can hardly put down. Thanks for the awakening Mr. Gorfu. -M Roncevich Gorfu Contra Nietzschemakes a powerful case that Nietzsche's moral philosophy is false. Although this makes the book unfashionable, "untimely," Gorfu takes seriously what Nietzsche took most seriously, his "revaluation of values." Fred Strohm, Ph. D. Gorfu Contra Nietzsche, like any serious comment on Nietzsche, is not only a critical evaluation of Nietzsche, but also a passionate and acidic analysis of certain aspects of his works that are troubling and problematic. Gorfu's book underscores the fact that there cannot be a singular Nietzscheanism, to borrow from Michel Foucault. It is a herculean task to engage one of the three 'masters of suspicion' in Western philosophy as Gorfu has done in this book. It may be easy to dismiss some aspects of Gorfu's critical analysis of Nietzsche as too personal or vitriolic, but they cannot be ignored. Gorfu Contra Nietzsche has challenged me to re-read Nietzsche with a renewed attention to some of the issues raised by the author. Ezekiel Olagoke, Ph.D. Associate Professor of Sociology, Waynesburg University.

Imani Jefferson was one paper from her Doctorate Degree, something she decided to pursue mid-career with the hopes of expanding her brand in the corporate world. Her daughter was college bound and she was about to be an empty-nester. She needed a new project. Michael Blue was the ultimate bachelor that had big dreams to be a music producer but lacked the get up and go to expand his local DJ title to go get it. When Ms. Corporate America took time out to celebrate with family, who knew he would spin his way into her heart. She noticed the DJ right away, she always did. Imani loved music but there was something about him that intrigued her. Thanks to social media she could play it cool at the party and hit him on the DM later when she got up the nerve. Imani was strong-willed and was not afraid to go after what she wanted. Would the DJ be intimidated by her status and not get to know her? Would he be like all the other guys that she met that asked the wrong question on the first date and because of her brutal honesty not be able to handle a second date? With music being the tie that binds them, who knew their love would be award worthy or was it? Just like the grooves in their favorite LP, their relationship would be tested and it would leave you to question, could the DJ save her life?

March 3, 1999 is a day I'll not likely forget. The events of that day are forever chiseled in my memory: it was my D-Day. My husband Ros had been going through a series of tests for reoccurring pain on his right side. There were numerous tests: X-rays, CAT scans, blood work, and several biopsies that came back either negative or inconclusive. He had a request from his physician to do one last test, which is what brings me to this day. (The day the covenant was broken.)

From My Kayak . . . not a how-to book, but a thoughtful, spiritual book about the passion of kayaking. Documenting a typical day’s journey kayaking on Aucoot Cove, Marion, Massachusetts, the author captures the beauty and spirit of the marsh and its wildlife through the written word and her photography. A soothing, contemplative work about the simple pleasures of kayaking, at any age. Getting a natural high on life . . .“After reading Donna’s commentary and enjoying her inspired photography, I sat back and reflected on the amazing creations of our Divine Creator!  This book is not only a coffee table centerpiece, but a pathway to peace and a mirror to the soul.”  Dr. Ardyth G. Bednarz, Pastor“The special joy that kayaking offers can be discovered in Donna’s book, giving the reader a glimpse into what can be found on our waterways.  As fellow kayakers, ‘From My Kayak…’, transports us to the waterways when we can’t be on our kayaks.  Donna has masterfully merged her creative knack for natural photography and writing by producing this book.  She has captured the reader with the natural beauty she sees when quietly paddling our local waterways, and her journal helps us view that beauty through her eyes.”    Doug & Elizabeth Leatham

  • - Flutters of Wisdom and Kindness
    von John W Casperson
    27,00 €

The Butterfly Effect: Flutters of Wisdom and Kindness accentuates the compelling need for random acts of kindness. Each reader of this book can remember someone from his or her past who has made an indelible influence on his or her life. A random act of kindness can resonate with goodness for each person who participates in favor. Unfortunately, other types of acts can have an opposite effect. This work contains hundreds of “flutters” of wisdom and kindness from an eclectic composition of sources from Aristotle to Emile Zola, from Plato to Rudyard Kipling, from Booker T. Washington to Leo Tolstoy, Karl Marx to Janis Joplin. This work attempts to synthesize different thought and observations from people, past and present, from different cultures of east and west that will indicate that we all share an impetus to a common goal . . . if we help each other. Though this may be deemed a work of scholarship, it is presented in non-scholarship terms. Though the subject matters (philosophy, sex, religion, and politics) are matters of gravitas, the answers can be quite simple, if we permit them to be. This is not a “how to” book. Each person has the sovereign right to determine his or her destiny. Nevertheless, interesting and controversial points are covered so that each person may make a more informed choice about how to determine well-being. If the reader pledges to help another, thousands of others will be pledging to help the reader. A Zen Buddhist koan asks, “How does the drop of water know it is part of a wave?” A drop always has a ripple. A flutter of kindness or wisdom can shake the world.
