This book is a very personal account of my life during a two-week period in August of 2005. The timeframe begins one week prior to Hurricane Katrina, through one week after Hurricane Katrina battered the Northern Gulf of Mexico's entire coastline. The date was, August 29, 2005; the day that became my personal, "e;Defining Moment of Reference"e;.In this book, I will describe the heavy toll of the losses related to my personal relationships that existed at that time, the immeasurable gains of so many new relationships that were forged out of the unexpected human kindness, comfort and love that arose out of the wreckage, and everything that falls somewhere in between all of these things. I lay out some very personal and traumatic details within this book, but I also explain how many negative occurrences have positive counterparts that balance the scales of life, and I take care to tell about all of these things in very honest and explicit terms. I am sure that I will be judged harshly, by some, and praised by others, as a result of releasing such intimate details about who I am and what is important to me, in this book. But none of that matters to me because the story had to be told, and in this book the entire story is told!

Along with this book you need to put together a bugout pack (BOP). The BOP will allow you to survive three to five days, and even longer. An inexperienced individual will certainly die without this book and a fully loaded BOP. Your survival chances increase exponentially with these two items. I give you here the tools to make your survival possible and the knowledge to thrive.

This book began as a personal history of my business endeavors, experiences, and accomplishments but somehow got sidetracked. The interesting characters, incidents, and situations that I witnessed along the way completely overshadowed my original intent. These schemes and shenanigans make for a much more interesting and entertaining read as well as a somewhat larger book.Most of us try to observe the "e;thou shalt not steal"e; ethic regardless of what religion we profess to be, or if we are not religious, it is either a written or unwritten law of all societies that I am aware of. I believe that many of us have a threshold at which it would not be wise to be tempted especially when the odds of being found out are between slim and none.I pass on my observations, experiences, and thoughts as they pertain to the subject as well as other random and disjointed musings that might, I would hope, be enlightening, entertaining or, by some stretch of the imagination, have some redeeming quality.
