    We have all been there. A point that can send our lives in one direction or the other. This is a point where we can either continue the way we have been living or branch out, take a chance, and seek more out of life. The Long Road North chronicles this juncture in Quentin Super's life. His memoir takes us through various stages that many people have experienced: partying, promiscuity, emptiness, and eventually a desire for something more. For Super, this "e;something more"e; entailed riding his bicycle through the grueling Minnesota winter with his best friend during their spring break in March 2015. Together, they rode eight hundred miles from St. Cloud, Minnesota, into Canada, all the way to Winnipeg, Manitoba. Once they finished their time in the major metropolis, they turned around and went all the way back. Captured in this book is just how difficult the journey was from a physical, mental, and emotional perspective. The raw honesty will draw tears. The mesmerizing storytelling will keep readers engaged. But the lengths Super went to find out more about himself and the world will inspire a generation.

    My book of jokes and riddles could be described as spicy and debaucherous that wouldn't be for everyone. But I assume that on this day and age, such qualities are superfluous as long as the literature is creative and artistic. My inspiration for the book began after getting into a series of jokes and riddles match with a co-worker at a restaurant where I've worked at. Everyone there encouraged me to write it all down on a paper and create a book. After twelve years of compiling jokes and riddles, with much time on my hands, I've finally formed a book for publication.

    The Tragedy of Kabul Bank is the story of a massive fraud, deception and betrayal by a group of crony capitalists aided and abetted by the then highest political authorities of Afghanistan. It is an expose of rampant greed and excessive risk taking that shocked the world and caused enormous damage to Afghanistan's economy and image. The Tragedy of Kabul Bank is a narrative of a notorious case of corruption in post-Taliban Afghanistan, recipient of the largest foreign aid since European reconstruction. The Tragedy of Kabul Bank is a minute by minute account of multiple crises occurring at the same time and in quick succession and the panic that precipitated the largest bank run the country had ever seen. It is also an astonishing story of sacrifice and bravery by staff of the Central Bank who faithfully investigated members of the most powerful mafia in order to track and recover the stolen funds, but fell prey themselves. As the then Governor of the Central Bank, Fitrat struggled hard against impossible odds, but failed to bring the perpetrators to justice. Faced with imminent threats to his safety, he fled to the United States in June 2011. He and his innocent colleagues at the Central Bank became the subject of persecution by the ruling cliques experiencing enormous pain and suffering that has continued to this day. The alleged perpetrators who stole nearly one billion dollars of depositors' money and caused the bank's downfall largely escaped justice. Many of them including relatives of political elites were not even in the prosecution list and received no verdict. The most shocking episode came when President Karzai invited the alleged perpetrators for a luncheon in the Presidential Palace and instead of sending them to prison assured them of his unwavering support. The failure to prosecute the perpetrators became a major source of discontent for the international donor community and the Afghan people alike.

    Bedtime Stories from the Land of Imagination is a set of six delightful fantasy stories written to spark the imagination of children from ages three to eight years old. The stories were written by Christian author Linda Hoard and inspired by her own precious grandchildren as they traveled the US in their luxury RV with their parents as storm chasers, that is, with the parents having occupations as insurance adjusters following major US hurricanes, hail storms, and floods. Linda, a life-long follower of Jesus Christ, writes bedtime stories for the very young with pearls of wisdom embedded in each. Her short stories encourage healthy childhood behavior, respect for parents, caring, sharing, kindness, and love. Linda is committed to writing books that matter with knowledge gained through years of personal study in the behavioral sciences, pointing to the fact that as the twig is bent . . . so grows the tree. It matters greatly how we treat our gifts from God, our children, as well as how we instruct these precious treasures who are our American legacy. "e;The apple does not fall far from the tree."e;

    Like his father who gambled on the cards, All-in (don't call him Allan) gambled in life and, true to the name bequeathed to him by his reckless father, jumped at every opportunity to go for broke. Freed from the drudgery of his college experience by a call to duty in the air force during the Vietnam war in 1968, he set to work to make himself a domestic version of the famous war correspondent Ernie Pyle. Mentored by the publisher of the famous newspaper the Territorial Enterprise, where Mark Twain a hundred years previously invented himself, All-in established his journalistic and literary credentials. Along the way, he met a gorgeous blonde, provided refuge for his crazy father, supported his struggling mother, and coached a young soldier to manhood. While awaiting deployment to Southeast Asia, he found purpose and meaning in his life. Like Mark Twain, he joyfully skirted the line between fact and fiction, ultimately deciding no line at all was needed.

    Vietnam Revisited shares the personal stories of America's sons and daughters who fought the most unpopular war in our nation's history. They answered America's call to arms to fight the spread of communism in Southeast Asia. While antiwar sentiment and protests raged at home, many Americans volunteered to serve in the Vietnam War. Many were drafted. But the Vietnam veterans and Vietnam-era veterans put their lives on the line to do their nation's bidding. And when they returned home, they came back to an ungrateful nation. Many returning military members were shunned verbally and physically. They were called baby killers and murderers for their service. To right our past wrongs, the United States government proclaimed a commemoration of fifty years since the end of the Vietnam War. This inspired the author of Vietnam Revisited to interview Vietnam veterans and Vietnam-era veterans weekly since January 2015. Before the Cock Crows is a prophetic look into the spiritual eyes of the bride of Christ in her slow decline into apostasy. In her naivete, God's beloved boldly boasts how she will never forsake the Lord. Yet her reflection in the mirror at this time bears a striking resemblance to the apostle Peter in the precise moments prior to his denying our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, not once, but on three separate occasions. This book is biblical in nature with a solid backbone of scriptures to back up and support the heavy weight of such critical subject matter as what will be the role of the Holy Spirit of God as compared to Christian believers during the time of the rule of the Antichrist; an explanation of what the mark on the forehead of God's sheep is; God's holy temples present, past, and future; how to spiritually eat the word of God; why a solo and intimate walk with God is so imperative in these latter days; spiritual transformation and renewal; and lastly, how all of these topics tie into the upcoming apostasy predicted by Jesus Christ so very long ago. Indeed, the cock will crow for the Christian Church, just as it crowed for Peter so very long ago. Although there have been many books published on the subject of apostasy throughout the years, Before the Cock Crows not only forewarns against and prepares its readers for the upcoming apostasy, but also teaches them how to develop a deep and intimate relationship with God along the way. This book is meant to reach a broad Christian audience, but more importantly this book was meant for such a time as this.

    I'm a sixty year old man who has spent most of my life with animals. Within this book, I describe my display of affection for my friends in my own way. I do not recommend anyone following my example for anything I describe doing in this book. Each person must make his or her won decision on how to treat their friend. The reason for the book is to show the reader just what is possible to achieve with your new friend. It's the same things that we as humans look for - love, respect, and understanding are most important; adopt a pet and make it a friend.

    New Orleans has a reputation: the food, the fun, and the festivals! The Saints, the Superdome! The river, the raucous party life, casinos, crawfish, king cake, and Mardi Gras krewes. To many in the Gulf South, New Orleans brings to mind the tragedy of Katrina, now eleven years after a flooded city, no one forgetting and some still recovering. Jamey Kavanaugh had come to New Orleans for Mardi Gras, but more than that, to escape a life that in twenty years never took her outside the neighborhood in Queens. Mom's verbal abuse and lack of concern for her physical needs, the sexual stuff from Jake, Mom's live-in, had taken its toll. She left the Big Apple on New Year's Eve and never looked back. An unfortunate yet vicious assault on a policeman on her first day in town kept her alert for any hint of being discovered in the Big Easy. The ferry that took her to Jackson Street in Uptown promised some hope for starting anew. The people she met in the Deep South washed away the cold and crass clouds of her northern nightmare. An unassuming and sweet boyfriend, a gracious Cuban couple, considerate and compassionate new friends, an elderly sophisticate from Lake Charles, and others change Jamey. In less than a year, the future brightens for what was a ''take what you want 'cause the world owes you"e; millennial.

    That everybody is different is truism as is. Some succeed in the world and others don't. Many found resistance to them and only accomplished a modicum of success; some had a great deal of resistance and lost their minds or life, but none in my book, except two, had to experience the speed of life as it is today. President Obama seems to have been sensitive to the artists and showmen regarding their legacies and had several groups on public TV channels with special shows. The productions at the White House have given guests a charge if they needed it. Obama, in attending to his own legacy, has certainly helped theirs.

    After leaving her job in Hawaii and a failed relationship, moving to Los Angeles and knowing that she was literally going to starve to death at her new job, which was total commission, Penny read about a job in the newspaper that said, "e;Sail, see the world, travel."e; Thinking it was the Navy but knowing that she had to have a job, she applied. Fortunately for her, it turned out to be a cruise company that offered her a job in the gift shops on board a ship. She accepted, having never been on a cruise ship before and with the knowledge that she gets seasick. The book contains short stories about getting settled on board and being the new kid on the block, meeting her new "e;family,"e; the job, what it's like living on board a cruise ship for months at a time, the crew and what actually goes on below and above decks, entertainment, the cast of characters that are the guests, a major fire at sea, mishaps and death, shore excursions, and friendships that are made for a lifetime. It was a life-changing decade for her in only the positive sense and was an incredible opportunity to see and experience distant lands and people, in a way that she never imagined. So welcome aboard!

    A Message to My Black People: Stop Being the Nigga in America, first of all, is not meant to anger or disparage anyone. I wrote this book to help my people understand that we can do things a whole lot better as a people in order to earn and gain the respect as a people that we feel we deserve. Our slave ancestors endured too much for too long for us not to respect and reflect upon that and to make ourselves better. Our people and others devoted to the cause during the civil rights era fought tirelessly to earn equal rights and respect for our people for that to be disregarded. I do not want our people to take certain rights and privileges for granted and not understand the full purpose behind them. What I say in this book is how a lot of our people feel but are probably afraid to say, especially in a public forum. A lot of us may fall into certain categories mentioned in the book or know someone who does. The goal is not to insult anyone but to bring to light that he or she or they can do things better to uplift our people and help remove all the negative stereotypes placed upon us by other races. Please take the time and read each section thoroughly to get my full message. If you agree with my points, great. If not, try to really evaluate why and see if there is anything you can do to at least understand where I am coming from when I mention the things that I do. It is time for us as a people to take responsibility of our actions and better ourselves, improve our image, and stop being the scapegoat for problems in America. It is time to stop being the nigga in America!

    Metamodern Leadership outlines the seven values that identify the character of our future leaders based on the circumstances that make the Millennial Generation who they are. It is at once an attempt to implore youth to seize their potential by tying their values to ancient wisdom, as well as a warning to everyone else to understand the impacts of disregarding the inevitable tendencies of a very distinct new demographic. This is the untold story of the personal responsibility required of the Millennial Generation, against the messaging and memes that portray them as entitled and lazy. It is an optimistic and pragmatic interpretation on the leadership mandates in the near future. The ancient virtue of leadership required broad knowledge as the basis for critical thinking and self-examination. The late twentieth century required myopic versions of leadership, which neglected the truths of centuries of wisdom. Our younger generations will lead and follow based on new foundations that seem counterintuitive to most yet will be the status quo within a decade. This distinction will lead to pragmatism and problem solving for the future rather than the dogma and gridlock of today. We will require a generation of leaders who can once again link the complexities of the future with the ancient wisdom of progress.

    In this fascinating study encompassing a period of rapid growth and change, a cruise director looks back over a career that spanned twenty-five years on some of the best-known luxury ships of the second half of the twentieth century, including ten years aboard Cunard's famous ocean liner Queen Elizabeth 2. Peter Longley fell into the industry by accident in 1978, at a time when it could be said that cruising was exclusively for the rich and famous. Longley traces this form of travel from its imperial passengers sailing the lifelines of empires to the fabulous world cruises that attracted eccentric passengers. Here, life and challenges both above and below decks are explored on these floating cities at sea that still hold myths of the past as they leap into the future. From gala buffets to labor disputes, from entertaining royalty to evacuation at sea, Longley takes you there. You will go from dry docks to exciting ports of call, interspersed with anecdotes of an extraordinary lifestyle. You will also witness murder at sea, stowaways, and the sorting of garbage. See how technology changed shipboard pastimes, and how the jet plane changed itineraries and entertainment, and how the computer changed everything. Finally, take a look at cruising today with over four hundred ships plying the seven seas. Learn how a few corporations now run the industry, and vacations range from voyages on mass-market mega ships to luxury river cruisers.
