At the age of nine, I took on the responsibility of my younger siblings due to my mother's passing. My life changed tremendously. I had to become an adult at a young age. Although I was very mature for my age, I felt as though I missed out on my childhood. No one at the age of nine wants to experience this kind of pain. I wouldn't wish this on anyone. Yet where there is pain, there's a blessing behind it. I became a mother at the age of nineteen. My life changed after I had my first daughter. I was blessed to move out on my own and raise my daughter as the woman my mom always saw in me. Then after I had another baby girl three years later. Life has a way of showing you that there will be pain and heartache that sometimes will never be explained. The strength in it all is trying to find a life after. Yes, I have a story. But today I celebrate life with two beautiful children and three grandchildren that mean the entire world to me. I can't change my past and what happened or why it happened. But thank you, God, for my life today. I am grateful.
