Living on land that had once been the territory of the Kalapuya Indians, Tom researched the tribe, discovering that there was little in the way of historical writings about the people. The book is a fictional tale about a small mountain community surrounded by huge tracts of corporate timberland. Sam McKenzie, the last full-blooded Kalapuya, and Laura Morgan, an attractive widow, become drawn together amid a group of colorful characters and unexpected events. The small hamlet of Falon, although insulated from most of the nation's big-city dilemmas, becomes entwined in a sinister plot to disrupt the American way of life. Through the chapters, the reader is taken on an amazingly entertaining adventure into the lives of small-town people going through big time experiences. September Winds is the type of story that many readers will want to experience more than once.

Tom Adornetto tells the story of a family thrust into uncertainty and explores whether the bonds of love and marriage can withstand life's tragedy of an unexpected divorce. Bob's heart is heavy with the loss of his wife's love and the separation from his children, a separation that turns his world upside down. He has new life experiences and gains insights into two horrible evils of society: murder and suicide. Tom Adornetto weaves a compelling and compassionate story of courage in the face of unimaginable loss and exploring the strength it takes to conquer our greatest fears and violent impulses of revenge. I am a survivor of childhood abuse that lived to tell my story to help others that have had to endure suffering and pain at the hands of someone who is supposed to love and protect you. If I could help give just one person the will to overcome and survive, it would have been worth me writing this book. I was robbed of my childhood, and anger and hate consumed me for many years until the age of twenty-four. I decided I'm never going to be a victim again.

You can never be a hundred-percent protected from an accident that could take your life away. You could be asleep in bed and a moon rock come through your roof and take you to eternity. At eight years old, it was my first time hearing an explosion of the magnitude of the explosion in the Hope riverbed on the tenth of March 1962. The earth quaked, and the explosion went up the riverbed and into the mountains and reverberated for several minutes. After the explosion, it was raining rocks for several minutes on top of the tin roof hut. When it stopped raining rocks and the smoke was clearing, Howard and I got off the dirt floor and began looking for a way out. Time seemed to have slowed down as we ran by the teenagers' bodies among the rocks and driftwoods. My ears were still ringing as we sailed effortlessly through the ravine until we reached home. Warfare with guns and ammunition is the beginning of the end of life on earth.

The culture in which we live is an infectious and polarizing wilderness. Facing the challenges of society will require strength outside of us to be successful. It will require faith in God, through His Son Jesus Christ, to address hate, injustice, implicit bias, division, poverty, anti-Semitism, etc. Now more than ever, we must stand on the promises of God through obedience to His Word and not sit on His premises if positive change is to take place in our culture through Christianity. As the scriptures tell us, "e;For unto us a Child was born, a Son was given, and the government is on His shoulders; and His name is called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace"e; (Isaiah 9:6). God promises victory to those who believe, obey His Word, and stand on His promises.

Earth at the end of the twenty-first century was an exciting but challenging time. Meteorology and geology joined hands as the planets Xeracik and Earth began to experience structural turmoil and destruction. The ranch in Texas, where the portal between Xeracik and Earth existed, had started a wonderful intergalactic relationship. The alliance had some struggles in the previous six encounters, but they had never before faced the possibility of destruction and complete annihilation. This seventh encounter features Jay, the youngest of the Tornadic Seven, a name given to the core group who were friends and defenders of the Xeracikeans. In the end of this encounter, Earth has an unexpected transformation-some might say an Armageddon.

My name is Eric Atno. I live in San Diego, California. I was in the U.S. Navy/Naval Reserves for twenty-six years. I achieved the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer. By definition I am a subject matter expert. Most of my time was spent at sea or underway. It is a lifestyle that most normal people find hard to understand. My book is a sailor's eye view in to this strange and unnatural existence. I was a prolific writer while I was underway and overseas. I was told many times that I should write a book. I finally decided to do just that. The process has taken me a few years. I write exactly how I speak. I am real. My story is real (mostly). I take the reader on a twenty-six-year odyssey around the world and back in peace and at war. I take you places that are comical and tragic. It's not just a collection of sea stories. Any retired swab jockey can do that. There are plenty of books out there about the Navy, tactics and warfare. The difference between me and the great Mr. Tom Clancy is that I actually did this stuff. This story is told through a third person or alter-ego which allows me some deniability and freedom to share my stories. I thank you, most humbly, for your time. Enjoy!

Let this author take you back with a couple memories to an earlier, wilder Kodiak, Alaskawhen the seafood industry was booming and the town never went to sleep, when trappers were popular and often sold most of their prime furs to the locals and tourists, when the churches and the bars ran neck and neck in number and the congregation was always greatest in the latter. The "e;Wreck of the Rustler"e; will give the reader a feel for what living on Kodiak Island meant in the 1950s and '60s and take a few boat rides around the island, one of which became a terrifying nightmare for the four young boys aboard when the skipper and other adults drank too much whiskey. The boat plowed into a rockpile on a windy Christmas night and began taking on water. For hours, impending death loomed in their thoughts as they helped in the fight to save the vessel and aid toward their eventual rescue by Coast Guard helicopters."e;Confessions of a Seal Hunter"e; is a descriptive recollection of a small-scale commercial seal hunt down the east side of Kodiak Island during which an untried boy took his first steps into manhood, learning the skills of work and survival as he followed his skipper down the island in a small skiff; dreading his first kill with the club, learning to skin the seals and care for the hides; working brutal, long hours every day to help increase the catch; and learning that a workingman was expected to carry his share of the load no matter how tired, wet, and cold he was.

This story in 2018 has an anniversary of fifty-eight years. I wrote this book for information and to tell our story. We are Native Americans, and we live in Dunn, which is located in Harnett County, North Carolina. This book is a true account of the struggle of two brave Indian brothers who wanted better education opportunities for their children. My dad often made this statement: "e;Parents want a better life for their children than what they have experienced."e; He often reminded me and my nine siblings, "e;Your money could be taken, your valuables stolen, but no one could take knowledge from you."e; After the eighth grade, there were no accommodations in Harnett County for Indian high school students. High school students attended the state run Eastern Carolina Institute for Indian Children. This involved a seventy-two-mile round-trip on a bus daily. We had to rely upon our Lord and Savior for our strength. Our journey would take six long years. It was our faith that made us strong for the challenge. When the mission was accomplished, six of the siblings received an education at Dunn High School.

There comes a time when prudent and meaningful planning and preparation can become excessive and evolve into an impediment much like an anchor, keeping one in place! Almost always, adventure requires a submission to uncertainty and abandon of the pursuit of omniscience, taking at least, to a significant degree that leaps into the unknown. Such was the case of Salt Peter and her skipper for the duration of a year in the Pacific. Originally pursuing a circumnavigation, the journey took the author and his vessel on a seven thousand mile voyage to Hawaii, Tonga, Fiji and finally to New Caledonia, where Salt Peter met her end. It was a journey of discovery, both physically and spiritually, with a range of experience to last a lifetime. I invite you to join me on this year-long adventure and experience with me an honest, uncomplicated and enriching interaction with the seemingly endless ocean and volatile sky and discover with me the rewards of taking a chance.

In the words of John Steinbeck, "e;A journey is a person in itself; no two are alike. And all plans, safeguards, policing, and coercion are fruitless. We find after years of struggle that we do not take a trip; a trip takes us."e; This piece is an abstract experiment that tells the story of a trip that took a young girl and made her a woman. She met many characters: depression, confusion, self-hatred, substance abuse, sexual awakening, love, forgiveness, and understanding. And at this pilgrimage's denouement, she arose from a forgotten, abandoned building with one voice ringing clear, ready to plunge once again into a bold new journey within herself.
