I am a survivor of childhood abuse that lived to tell my story to help others that have had to endure suffering and pain at the hands of someone who is supposed to love and protect you. If I could help give just one person the will to overcome and survive, it would have been worth me writing this book. I was robbed of my childhood, and anger and hate consumed me for many years until the age of twenty-four. I decided I'm never going to be a victim again.

You can never be a hundred-percent protected from an accident that could take your life away. You could be asleep in bed and a moon rock come through your roof and take you to eternity. At eight years old, it was my first time hearing an explosion of the magnitude of the explosion in the Hope riverbed on the tenth of March 1962. The earth quaked, and the explosion went up the riverbed and into the mountains and reverberated for several minutes. After the explosion, it was raining rocks for several minutes on top of the tin roof hut. When it stopped raining rocks and the smoke was clearing, Howard and I got off the dirt floor and began looking for a way out. Time seemed to have slowed down as we ran by the teenagers' bodies among the rocks and driftwoods. My ears were still ringing as we sailed effortlessly through the ravine until we reached home. Warfare with guns and ammunition is the beginning of the end of life on earth.

My name is Eric Atno. I live in San Diego, California. I was in the U.S. Navy/Naval Reserves for twenty-six years. I achieved the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer. By definition I am a subject matter expert. Most of my time was spent at sea or underway. It is a lifestyle that most normal people find hard to understand. My book is a sailor's eye view in to this strange and unnatural existence. I was a prolific writer while I was underway and overseas. I was told many times that I should write a book. I finally decided to do just that. The process has taken me a few years. I write exactly how I speak. I am real. My story is real (mostly). I take the reader on a twenty-six-year odyssey around the world and back in peace and at war. I take you places that are comical and tragic. It's not just a collection of sea stories. Any retired swab jockey can do that. There are plenty of books out there about the Navy, tactics and warfare. The difference between me and the great Mr. Tom Clancy is that I actually did this stuff. For hours, impending death loomed in their thoughts as they helped in the fight to save the vessel and aid toward their eventual rescue by Coast Guard helicopters."e;Confessions of a Seal Hunter"e; is a descriptive recollection of a small-scale commercial seal hunt down the east side of Kodiak Island during which an untried boy took his first steps into manhood, learning the skills of work and survival as he followed his skipper down the island in a small skiff; dreading his first kill with the club, learning to skin the seals and care for the hides; working brutal, long hours every day to help increase the catch; and learning that a workingman was expected to carry his share of the load no matter how tired, wet, and cold he was.

We are Native Americans, and we live in Dunn, which is located in Harnett County, North Carolina. We had to rely upon our Lord and Savior for our strength. Our journey would take six long years. It was our faith that made us strong for the challenge. When the mission was accomplished, six of the siblings received an education at Dunn High School.
