The Double Yoke is a Bible-based fictional story depicting a teenager named Lydia, whose household is changed by the transforming grace of God. God's grace continues to abound, igniting the faith of an elderly Jew named David. The elder finds himself joined to a younger Christian grandson who is also named David. At first, David and his grandson, David, enjoyed the family bond brought about through the marriage of the older David's daughter and the younger David's father. But the bond began to grow as the Jew and the Christian became secured in the enveloping grace found only in the green pasture provided by the Shepherd of shepherds. The mantle of grace, which God himself has stretched over mankind, opened the heart of the pious Jew as the younger David shared the gospel message with his new grandfather. Whenever grace appears, the fires of love are set ablaze that no man can quench.

Do you count yourself amongst the living or do you walk amongst the lost? Lost or dead, it doesn't really matter because the only difference is, you're still breathing air. But what if you didn't know who you were or where you came from? What if you had no friends, no money, nothing to eat and all points led nowhere? What would you do? Where would you go? Who would you turn to?What if something was coming for you that wanted to take you back to that place you can't remember but swore you'd never go back to? Without memories we're just bags of bones, wrapped in flesh and sealed with a million and one flaws. But each of us are uniquely different, one from another, and it's those memories that define who we are, not just what we see in the mirror. What if that something that was coming railed against everything you believe to be true. How would you deal with that? More importantly, what if there was a cure, a fix, a get out of jail free card? Would you take a leap of faith if it was just a phone call away? I did, knowing full well that once I dialed that number there was no turning back. The only way out now was through the belly of a beast no one should ever contemplate. Never say never and never fall prey to complacence. It's what you don't see that will kill you. One-Niner is a thinly veiled autobiography recounting the experiences of a young navy chaplain who served with the Marine Corps. His outfit-second battalion, Fifth Marine Infant Regiment, First Marine Division-had among the highest casualties of any infantry battalion in the northern I Corps in 1968-1969. The unique perspective of a Marine infantry chaplain brings the excruciating images of war from the wards of field hospitals to the battlefield itself, giving the reader a comprehensive understanding as to why those scars continue to remain for the combat veteran forty to fifty years later. The chaplain, also known as "e;padre"e; or "e;sky pilot,"e; has a radio call sign, "e;one-niner"e; but carries no weapon and has no one to command. He lives with the "e;grunts"e; in the field and draws deeply from his own personal religious and psychological resources to bring spiritual comfort and emotional release to his Marines. Somehow he makes sense out of nonsense and squeezes hope from hopelessness but is not immune from bullets and shrapnel or the insidious, debilitating assault on the human body and spirit that twelve months of daily, relentless warfare brings. His ministry is diverse, sometimes mundane, much of it dangerous as he travels daily to his four line companies by chopper or walking. Then in an instant, when rockets slam into their perimeter, primal fear screaming inside, the chaplain is hugging the ground, fearful he will die a painful death. Minutes later he is holding a bloody, dying Marine in his arms. Sometimes he feels deep pain and sorrow for them, like a mother grieving for her injured child. And sometimes, when too many casualties make the anguish too much to bear, he feels nothing at all. Although bullets and shrapnel will no longer cut them down, the combat veteran will face two battles returning home. First is the vociferous, angry political confrontation raging in America over the morality of the war. The second battle, much more difficult to deal with, will soon be raging in his head, those buried memories and horror of battle that will never, ever be excised out of his experience.

This story is an action-packed thriller about forty-nine-year-old Jake O'Nell, who works as a custodian for the local high school. Most of the people in and around the little town of Wineca assume they know exactly who Jake is, a drunken loner! The drug cartel that tries to carry out a plan to use Jake's school as a distribution center assumes the same thing. But then comes the day so many find out assumptions can kill!

There is another security breach between Earth and Xeracik, the first two planets to actually exchange intellectual information and form an alliance. The large historic oak tree on Grandpa's Texas ranch, which was being used as a portal between the two planets, has unwillingly delivered something to Earth. Yes, the tree was beginning to show signs of human emotions. It actually tried to stop the delivery. After an unwelcome entrance to Earth is made, there begins a threat of an all-out war between the planets. Rex Jr. is an innocent bystander who arrives at Mr. "e;Grandpa"e; Olson's ranch to see his uncle Rex. His uncle watches over Sam the tree portal, and when Rex Jr. arrives for a Thanksgiving visit, he accidentally gets involved in the catastrophic mishap. Fortunately for all involved on both planets, Rex Jr. is a science student who enjoys inventing things and entering science fairs. He was named after his uncle, and both ironically have the same first name as the ranch owner, Mr. Rex Olson, "e;Grandpa Rex"e;. Grandpa Rex and his grandsons have been involved in the first four alien encounters and would rather not be involved anymore, but they do not have a choice. If you were thrown into a situation involving visitors from another planet, would you try to run away, or would you be curious to know more about these strange beings? Rex Jr. has always been wanting to figure things out. He is a little nervous when he is all alone, confronting an alien, but as he stands beside Sam the tree portal, he doesn't run away. He begins asking the strange being one question after another. It has been named Kitty B by Grandpa Rex Olson. As Kitty B does things to try to unnerve Rex Jr., Rex Jr. just becomes more intent on understanding what is going on. Rex Jr. and the Xeracik laboratories come up with a very unusual invention. Once upon a time, a childhood didn't include cell phones, texting, email and video games; no instant music, flat irons, silky hair products and malls for every good thing, needed or not. After the big money crash in 1929, followed by many years of the Great Depression, our community stuck together. The Depression babies arrived all through the thirties and when World War II arrived, jobs were greatly appreciated but young men went off to fight and so many to die. With the men away at war or working, women joined together to raise the children. An old African saying, it takes a village to raise a child, was recently brought to the fore. This is something I found to be very true during my early years. In fact, it was how our community operated. That's what I found growing up in a small rural southern community centered around church and school. Everybody looked out for each other and relied on each other. Sometimes being close knit spilled over into a lack of privacy, usually it involved gossip, but mostly tender loving care. These are the depression years and the war years my parents' generation endured.

The venue is in the Motor City where the trials of being raised by a divorcee who had been abused by two husbands. She was left to raise five children on her own. However, the first husband had great input and one child was born to this union. The second husband had little to no communication which caused division coupled with sibling rivalry. Meanwhile, the mother tried to live her life as the madness continued.

In Not One Dry Eye, Sharon Diggs shares her wonder of God-humanity's need for faith, love, wisdom, mercy, and hope. These poems are creative reminiscent accounts of her walk with Christ. Jack Faragasso is an artist, a writer, and a photographer. He was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, at the start of the Great Depression. Life was difficult but through his hard work and keen intellect, he graduated from high school with academic honors. Immediately after graduating, he enlisted in the United States Army. When discharged from the service, he enrolled in the Art Students League of New York to study drawing and painting with Mr. Frank J. Reilly for over four years. Mr. Reilly passed away in 1967, and in 1968, Mr. Faragasso took over the student body and has been teaching Mr. Reilly's methods and concepts as well as his vast accumulated knowledge ever since. In this time period, while still teaching, he painted over six hundred paperback book covers and illustrations as well as painting many easel paintings and writing three books-the highly sought-after Students Guide to Painting, Drawing the Human Figure from Life Memory and Imagination, and The Early Photographs of Bettie Page: The Making of an American Icon. This is his first book on poetry. Jack Faragasso says he is a deist, a mystic, a realist, and a dreamer. He says he has always had one foot in the real world and one foot in a mystical world. In this world, his mind is a whirlpool of ever changing thoughts, colors, and images. When these erupt to the surface of his rational mind, he calls them inspirations. Many of these have found their way into his writings paintings and illustrations. Mr. Faragasso doesn't call himself a poet, having spent his entire life in the world of art, producing easel paintings, illustrating, teaching drawing and painting, and writing on and about art. All of a sudden at his very advanced age, the floodgates of his mind swung open, and there was a torrent of intense feelings and emotions of the joys and sorrows of love. He was compelled to write these feelings and write them along with other thoughts of life. He followed no rules, sought no style. He did not struggle to write a poem and wrote only when the inspirational thoughts came into his mind. These are sincere, and they come from his heart and soul. They need no elaboration or clarification-they just are. They come to him at any time or place. He jots them down quickly for these thoughts are very shy and do not like to be looked at for any length of time. The result is this little book-his first on poetry. Poems of Love and other thoughts runs the gamut of emotions from the most tender moments of love to the ecstasy, power, and torment of passionate love.

Living through high school can be hard, and living through it with Blue did not make it any easier to deal with for Meganlynn. I wanted to write a book from a fish's perspective of survival amid the uncertainty of everyday life. Calvin's survival depends on his ability to deal with the situations that he can control and coping with man-made disasters . I finished this book during the B. P. Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. This was the worst man-made disaster in history. The Horizon oil spill had a devastating effect on sea life, plant life, water quality, not counting the loss of billions of dollars and livelihoods for millions of people for years and years to come. The girl lay in the grass on the side of the trail beneath the low-hanging limbs of a dogwood tree. Her arms were by her side, one leg bent at the knee. She was completely nude, and her skin glistened with a thin coat of early dew. Her lifeless eyes were open so that she gave the appearance of a storefront mannequin. There were no signs of any struggle, no drag marks, no obvious footprints. There was also no obvious sign of any blood anywhere to be seen. There was not a mark on her that could be seen, nor was there any hair-anywhere. She had been completely shaved everywhere one would normally expect to see hair. It also appeared as if she had just stepped out of the shower and dried off. The body was spotless, save for a few insects, which had begun to crawl on it. There was no sign of any dirt, grass, twig, even dust. Homicide Detective Robert Gillette had investigated a lot of murders in his nearly twenty-five-year career as a policeman and had seen a lot of bodies-bodies shot, cut up, blown apart, run over, ground up, beat up, burned up. The bodies now turning up around the city are unlike any he had ever seen-they are perfectly clean. How are they dying, and who is killing these beautiful young girls? And are the murders connected to the series of unsolved sexual assaults that had eerily similar characteristics? References of Amazons date back to the time of Plato where he mentions trade between the Amazons and the island nation of Atlantis. The novel, Amazon Nights, explores the question of, can a civilization of women (or men for that matter) exist without having some interaction with the other sex? The answer to that question rest with the plight of the new queen to produce a female heir to the throne. For that, she needs the assistance of a man, one that can woo her, seduce her, excite her, and eventually impregnate her. The chosen male for this union has other ideas. He wants more-a relationship that is an unconditional commitment to love. A vast amount of commentary on his novels, the same reference materials Stoker used in composing his works, as well as the author's very notes and private journals inform my narrative.
