On Riding a Bike Blindfolded is based on the thoughts and experiences written by a heroin addict named Scott. His words and illustrations were found and read by his mother, Lori, after he died from an overdose. Due to his addiction, Scott left home and was not welcomed back until he stopped using drugs, something he could not manage to do. He lived from place to place, including abandoned warehouses, condemned shacks, and boxes in alleys, among other uncomfortable places. Undoubtedly, he shared all these places with rats and other hungry creatures. Sometimes, he was lucky and shared a friend's apartment. Other times, he spent weeks, months, or years in jail cells or prison. From all these places, he wrote what has come to be the journal you will read in this book. In every page of Scott's journal, he tells you every part of his life-from what it's like to share a crowded jail holding cell with sick and scary prisoners or being arrested and handcuffed in front of his girlfriend and every detail he suffered during his horrendous journey with heroin. The journal is not just about his experience with addiction. Scott was not just about addiction. He was an athlete, an artist, a pole dancer, the gymnast kind, and a poet. He loved his family, his friends, and especially the girl he hoped to marry. You will find yourself wanting to be his friend one minute, and the next minute, you will want to scream how mad you are because of his choices. This story is like no other one. It is told in a very personal way that makes you feel a part of his life. The last words Scott writes are written on the very day he died. His death will make you sad and maybe a little angry that some very bad people killed himand walked away.

There is this bad guy, Martin Krazor, who has a machine that he uses to devour the life and essence of elements and create his own artificial elements. He has a plan to become very powerful and try to devour the legendary element spoken of in old tales and legends. He and his son, Oliver, are also Lightning Elements. In the end, Martin and Violet will have to battle for supremacy. A mysterious voice is constantly advising Violet on her journey. She finds out what that entity really is at the end.

Jolie and her two best friends, Hamilton and Bacorama, who just happen to be pigs, go on a camping adventure with Nana to see their friends Squeak and Freddie Squirrel. During their trip, they get to visit Mrs. Hoot's Learning Academy where the animal children go to school to learn how to live in the forest. Squeak meets a new squirrel friend named Pip and spends all her time with her and brags about all the great things that Pip can do. Freddie gets jealous that Squeak isn't playing with him and says that Pip isn't special and that they shouldn't play with her because she is a black squirrel. Squeak's feelings get hurt and Freddie runs away. Jolie, Hamilton, and Bacorama go looking for him. When they find him, they help him to see that his feelings are from jealousy and not because Pip is different and that you always have room for more than one friend.

This is a short love story that takes place over a forty-five-year period in our lives. The actual love story only takes place for about a year and a half. In that time, a very strong friendship and love affair would endure forty years, two marriages each, and eight children between us (now grown). I believe in love, miracles, second chances, God, and most of all, our friendship which has never left us. The love affair is a small part of this story. We became friends who trusted, loved, and searched for each other through others but failed until January 12, 2019, when Edie finally found me on Facebook. Many methods for teaching people to read exist today. Reading mastery on the whole is made of many segments summed together. Reading programs have taken a fraction out of order, attempting to teach an end segment at the beginning. Some segments are left out entirely. This will frustrate a new reader. Sounding out letters is a great beginning and should not be omitted. But there is also a vital fraction of reading wholeness that should immediately follow sounding out, which shows the resemblance of rhyming and patterns in the smallest portions of words. These two, sounding out and identifying patterns, are most important to the mastery of reading. Sounding out makes accomplished goals stick in the mind. Showing small patterns in repetition through fun enhances faster learning. The title for this book, Reading Mastery Prescription, came about while I was pondering the book's utility for those who would teach reading. I visualized the analogy of someone who is illiterate meeting with a reading teacher just as a sick person must go to the doctor, seeking a cure for an illness. The doctor will write a prescription and discuss other things that can be done to assist with optimum health. The medication must be taken in the exact dose and method as prescribed, over a period of time, until the illness is conquered. The reading teacher and aspiring teachers can prescribe these easy lessons and use this straightforward method of reading instruction to cure a person's illiteracy. The lessons should be followed exactly, without skipping a dose, and in the order set out until illiteracy is conquered. Whether the student is young, middle-aged, or elderly, if the teacher prescribes this reading method and the student applies it, reading will produce its own joys and great satisfaction.
