This book is a collection of nonfiction essays by Richard Maibaum commenting and reflecting on his thoughts about Broadway and Hollywood, particularly ideas about writing, story development, and the significance of characters. It reflects forty years of thinking on the subject, from the late 1940s through late 1980s, shortly before his passing. It is the closest thing to a textbook that a writer of his stature and, as busy as he always was, could produce, and he always liked interactions with schools and eager people with aspiring writing talent. Never a gossip or tell all about others, he was interested in conveying what he knew about how to write and how to tell a story; that's what he felt truly important when talking about Broadway or Hollywood.

They have done so to enable them to continue to ravage the resources of those countries depriving the citizens of rule of law, justice, and freedom necessary ingredient for development of any country. No wonder why conflict is so prevalent in Africa countries. The author urge African Americans to begin to come to the rescue of African countries after they have rebuild their own lives so that one day we can all truly be free at last. I believe that the 70 percent of other races who are good human being will come to support every effort of the black people to rebuilt their lives. Many white had march side by side with black people before for black people causes. We are all human beings created in the image of God. But for those whites who hate black people and considered themselves to be superior to the blacks, I urge black people to forgive them when anyone asks for forgiveness and let God Almighty to be the judge of man's action. Slats Conners is a reporter for the Pacific Coast Gazette, a gossip-oriented daily. This story takes the reader through Jack's life, from his run-in with a dog in his childhood, to the present day. His view of just exactly what it means to be a Christian is truly changed when he loses his second wife to colon cancer. The changes are both dramatic and complete as he realizes that during his life with this woman, he had made her into an idol. He, as well as his wife, had always done the things a Christian did. They attended church, paid their tithe, helped out where they could, and always tried to live like what they thought a Christian should. After his new vision, seeing that he had been "e;lukewarm"e; to God, the Holy Spirit came into his life as a guide, and he was able to change the way he lived his life and attempted to put God first in all he did.

As the systematic murder of six million Jews by Nazi Germany and its collaborators was taking place, Jewish soldiers in the United States Army participated in guarding, healing, and reeducating of some of the four hundred thousand German prisoners of war (PW) held in camps scattered across the United States. History has paid little attention to the participation of Jewish GIs at these camps and the role they played in preparing PWs to return and participate in a postwar democratic Germany. Very little is known about the experiences of these Jewish soldiers that prepared them to go face-to-face with German PWs, some of which were hardened Nazi party members. In addition, little is known about how the tour of duty in these camps affected the GIs' postwar lives. It was fifty years after the German PWs returned home that I found an unexpected gift my late parents left me that became a portal to discover stories of individual Jewish men whose deeds should inspire future generations on confronting anti-Semitism and racism. These men did not feel sorry for themselves being assigned to PW camps, did not request transfers, and embraced the change and focused on the things they could control. They viewed their roles not as custodians or babysitters of prisoners but as role models of Jewish men who were fit, trim, educated, held rank, and wanted to do more than just "e;ride out the war"e; in the zone of the interior. Their stories are about affecting positive change in the PWs' thinking and behaviors. Their mission of tikkun olam-"e;repair of the world"e;-is the subject of this book. How, where, and when they started and completed this mission is unique to each Jewish GI despite them having common basic training in Jewish upbringing and values. It is hoped that this book will inspire other Jewish soldiers who served at PW camps or their family members knowledgeable about their service to step forward and share their experiences. Written from 2008 until 2018, parts of this book were written on four continents, in twenty-five countries, including an active combat zone (so forget the lie about no atheists in foxholes), and a number of the United States. The book's focus is religion, but the implications are applicable to all dogmatic belief systems. The emphasis on religion is because it is perhaps the most pervasive and sublime crystallization of systematic dogmatic thinking in the human condition. This book is not intended for a single audience but for several. It is to serve as a reference work for unbelievers who simply don't know how to articulate their unbelief. It is a position statement of why the author no longer believes. For those who are on the fence and might need a source against which to evaluate their own questions it may be helpful. And finally, it is for the devoutly religious for two reasons, to explain why not everyone agrees with them, and to appeal for them to at least be honest when articulating their own beliefs.

About ten years ago, I started writing down thoughts that popped into my head in my spare time. Poems for the Common Man became the working title. These poems are meant to enlighten and touch your senses and thought processes in many different ways. I hope you enjoy them.

Vivienne Nolan, lovingly referred to by family and friends as Mama Vee, is a God conduit. Whenever prayer is needed, call Mama Vee, and she calls on the Lord. Two brothers, Tom and Gary McNally, have set an ambitious task for themselves-spend the summer building a log cabin on family property located on a remote pond in Northern Vermont. Both have good reasons to see the project succeed. Gary is an engineering student eager to apply what he has learned in the classroom to the practical application and problems of construction. More important, he hopes to dispel nagging doubts about his abilities. Tom, saddled with a handicap that has limited his ability to function in the real world, sees a chance to succeed at something that has thus far eluded him, not being dependent on others. But when beset with problems ranging from the dangerous nature of the work, the unwelcome intrusions of uninvited strangers, and outside events beyond their control, the successful completion of the cabin becomes much more than a daunting challenge. The main character, Theopolis P. Bezelbottom, is the scion of a wealthy family of old-fashioned robber barons and leaders of industry. Theo just wants to live an indolent, irresponsible existence, doing as little as possible to maintain his common-law wife, children, and girlfriends in an easygoing life. He expects to inherit the main part of one of the major railroads of the country as well as control of Hawgwaller, an entire county in Appalachia, and he is trying to keep his position while doing the least amount of work. However, the patriarch and boss of the family, Uncle Throckmorton P. Bezelbottom, who controls everything, now expects Theo to take on active responsibility, and his uncle Aloysius P. Bezelbottom fully expects Theo to come up with a streamlined steam engine for the two-bit third-rate feeder railroad the county operates. Theo knows that he will lose his comfortable position in the family unless he succeeds in all the tasks he is now expected to perform. If he does not perform, he lose his wealth and favored position in the family and be drafted into the army just as World War II is about to break out.

When Captain Malcom Kin, captain of the West Army, received orders from the master-at-arms to eliminate a people called the Firstborns, who were deemed enemies to their way of life by the Ten heads of state, he immediately began to ask questions about killing unarmed people. Once upon a simpler time, a child's fun included an intense interaction within its environment, whether on a bus to a beach, swimming lessons in a city pool, or working tobacco fields. Interaction was also between machinery and the processes that made things function such as an icebox, iron furnace, clothesline, or oil jug. She writes of a time before technology took over and computers did all the work. The author recreates with her narrative and photographs a nostalgic reminiscence of those earlier decades for all who grew up in them and introduces the times to those who didn't. She recalls the years when life and living was hands on, when youngsters played and worked hard being part of life's assembly line. Today's children can switch on or plug in to make things function, but the fun is gone and with it, the knowledge of how things work. Lynn lived the first forty-six years of her life in the Frog Hollow section of Hartford, Connecticut. It was growing up in the Frog Hollow during the 1940s and 1950s that is the inspiration for her memoir of childhood during those years.

When I was a little girl growing up in rural Oklahoma, our family lived hours away from the nearest zoo. We didn't get to visit the animals that we're going to read about in this book. We had horses, cows, dogs, and cats at our house but no elephants, bears, lions, or tigers. The animals at the zoo are too big and too wild for us to take home as pets so that's why it's fun to see pictures and read about them in books. When animals are brought to the zoo, the zookeepers make every effort to keep them happy. They learn all about what the animals eat and how they like to sleep so they can create an environment that suits each animal. The zookeepers are specialized and highly trained how to keep themselves safe while they're feeding and taking care of the animals. Sometimes, the large animals are kept in pens or an enclosed area so they won't harm people. Have you been to the zoo? I wonder which animals you like the best. Curl up while you think about your favorites and listen as we read Aunt Connie's Favorite Animals at the Zoo.

This collection of poetry speaks to a very common theme of real human experiences, and they are just a small part of mine. I expressed how I felt like an outsider, then realized, it's not always bad to be unusual. Me and my children suffered the utmost tragedy of being separated over my naivety, and the intentional betrayal of a neighbor I considered a friend. It's about loving someone and discovering you both want something totally different. Our circumstances are not who we are. They are not a direct reflection of our whole being. For anyone who has had to experience incarceration for any amount of time can understand where I'm coming from in two of these poems. It's when the reality of the utter loneliness of being forcibly ridden of the things that are often taken for granted put you in touch with the peace that you can only find within yourself. I also believe in owning my feelings and not allowing others to trample my trust with lies. These writings are a liberation of all the labels, assumptions, and character assassinations that haunted me for so long. The love my mother and father gave me is what I cling to. Even when you may think you have failed, you must keep reaching and know how to grasp opportunity. We all need strength to maintain. I hope that you will discover something within these pages that can help change your life in a positive way.
