On the eve of the Great Mississippi River Flood of 1993, Terri Zimmerman returns to her childhood home in South St. Louis, and her life is changed forever. When she was growing up, Terri lived with her parents above the Zimmerman Bakery, which is now a tavern named the Stag Club. Terri becomes friends with Dinty Smith, the proprietor of the Stag Club. She also gets reacquainted with Glen Wunsch, a childhood friend who is the last member of a once-prominent St. Louis brewing family. Glen's grandmother is Anna Grosse, the infamous Lavender Lady who once dominated St. Louis high society and who again finds herself in the spotlight as the namesake of a new floating casino called the Belle of Calhoun. Terri sells perfume at the Famous-Barr store in Crestwood Plaza, and one of her customers is Barbara Grogan, who does a television program about the sport of fishing. Barbara is known as the Happy Hooker. Terri and Barbara become friends, but they eventually have a falling out. Terri's best friend is a girl from the Philippines named Paz Militante. The two girls work together behind the Estee Lauder counter at Famous-Barr. This is a lighthearted, humorous, romantic story that moves dramatically to the cataclysmic conclusion as the great flood sweeps through South St. Louis, destroying everything in its path.

This book is a small record of how things were done in a particular time period in the Marine Corps training history. In order to win, you have to put the best team together for that period or era. In the '60s, the techniques and tactics worked for the events that were going on at that time. What didn't work were the procedures we had to follow that were given to us by the politicians who knew nothing about the work we had to do. I'm sure they've changed in the last sixty years and will continue to evolve until they are no longer needed. I mean no disrespect to my beloved corps then, now, or in the future. If I were to criticize their procedures then and now, I would say that back then they took the so-called bad boys and now they want you with no flaws so that they don't have to waste time taking the errant behavior out of the individual in order to put their wants and needs and desires into him. They don't want to do the heavy lifting anymore. We haven't won a war since the middle forties, so I wouldn't know, but I've been told by people who were there that, in the end, it is the individual marine with a rifle and fixed bayonet who closes with and kills his enemy. That takes a bad boy who is used to doing the heavy lifting and the dirty work, but we have special units in almost every branch of the service that are trained specifically to do the heavy lifting and the dirty work. Semper Fi.

Olivia was a townswoman of Haiti whose life has been persecuted in all aspects. She talked about how in her childhood, she has become a friend of nature, which has impacted her life and abetted her throughout the diversity of many encumbrances. Through nature, she has learned what life is about, and nature has helped her overcome utmost the madness she has encountered along her pathway. She believes that the cycle change in the nature is likened to the cycle change in people's lives. Abandoned by her father while she was only an embryo, a father that had never come across her way, isolated from her mother at the age of six, she was left to be raised by her grandparents. Her existence is marked by many junctures. At an early age, she already knew what sexual harassment is about. She boarded many strangers' houses. In her teenage years, she traveled virtually the entire country from north, south, and central and has seen things that normal teens haven't seen and probably won't ever see in their existence. In her thirties, her husband left her in Haiti with two of her children, after the chaotic presidential overthrow of 1986. Fearing retaliation by an uprising populace, her husband was the first to emigrate in USA because as an act of reprisal toward anyone that had worked for the regime, no matter what your job was, thugs in the streets terrorized everyone (you can be here today and dead tomorrow). In 1987, after passing a long time into hell, in a country still under revolution, she and her children fled to New York. Then ten months after, she moved to Miami with her family, where she made it home in the United States, her adopted country. In 1992, while her life started to recover, her new home was hit by the most violent cyclone, Hurricane Andrew, which had destroyed everything she had amassed. A few years later, her husband left her again to go back to his native land, to stay. This is to ask if everyone that she loves will always find a way to pass as an absentee in her life. Over the following years, many chronic diseases have attacked her body, and from there the fun started, the fun game to stay alive. No one would imagine of what she's going through. She always looks happy, but under the veil of her happiness was hiding all sort of life complications that you would never thought could happen to one person. Her conviction is that she should not complain about herself. In this world we're living in, each of us carries secret onuses. By experience, she realized that people have a habit of comparing our burdens with the other people's. It isn't a fair tactic to support a friend or a family member in despair by associating his or her problem with another. Life is an impartial place for all of us. Don't presume that some problems are less than others. You exactly detain what you can bear oneself and what was predestined to fit only you.

Issues. They are the conflagrations, the bonfires, the burning controversies so profound, so personal they move people to take action and generate the momentum to change the political system and the course of history. Be it the Boston Tea Party of 1773, Jacob Coxey's Army, the Bonus Army March of June 1932, the National Moratorium to End the War in Vietnam, the Women's March of January 2018, or March for Our Lives to end gun violence in America in March of 2018, all came about because of Americans motivated by issues so much so they took their message of change to the street. Driven by issues which galvanized public opinion, people protested, demonstrating public solidarity for a cause. Earth Day: America at the Environmental Crossroads is a political history focusing on the issues which generated the first Earth Day in April 1970. It is about the people who brought about this momentous political turning point during a period in American history of unprecedented turmoil and political protest. Open its cover, and you will learn about the agents of change. Some have risen to take their place in the pantheon of environmental history; others are all but forgotten in the collective public mind. It begins with herbicide contamination and the Cranberry Scare of November 1959 then explains the use of Agent Orange in Vietnam and its impact on the environmental movement. Though the use of two nuclear weapons by the United States military ended World War II in the Pacific, the inevitable arms race with the Soviet Union during the Cold War led to the testing of these weapons of mass destruction. The second chapter explains how nuclear contaminated fallout became a health threat and a concern for environmentalists and the general public. Overpopulation seems to be a nonissue today. During the decades prior to Earth Day in 1970, the world's population numbers were a concern of monumental importance. This is the focus of chapter three. No credible treatment of the twentieth century environmental movement would be complete without addressing the contribution of Rachel Carson and her book Silent Spring. Unlike pesticides, the effects of which oftentimes surface years after exposure, deteriorating air quality burned the eyes and made it difficult to breathe. Polluted air particularly in the country's urban areas not only left an indelible impression in the minds of environmentalists, but it also threatened public health. And clean water, taken for granted today by most Americans, is the subject of chapter six, which describes the extent to which the country's waterways were part of a multibillion-dollar restoration project on the part of the states mandated by the federal government. The seventh chapter is a retelling of the oil spill disaster in Santa Barbara, California, and the radical fringe of the environmental movement which manifested itself before Earth Day, a fitting precursor to the event itself the subject of the final chapter.

This book was written with the intent to help soothe a person who is sitting in a hospital's waiting room after having just been informed that a loved-one has gone through a traumatic injury to their head (and the announcement was given without many available details). This reading can also be the kind of book that is relatively simple and quick to take in so that a person who has dealt with their own serious distress can absorb such hopeful information easily, as I know that I wish such writings had been available when I was recovering from my own Traumatic Brain Injury. Spending the recovery phase at my parents' house in the tiny town that we lived in at the time, I was around many friends, family, neighbors and former educators. One of them knew that between my mother and myself, we had kept an essential and accurate journal of the daily events following the TBI. My husband and other individuals, suggested that I compose and set down on paper wording that would provide other people with a literary image of mine that would reflect the view that I had finally achieved; that is, that the term "e;head injury"e; does not necessarily refer to needing to be on life support nor ceasing to exist. But dealing, emotionally, with the loss of a close friend while recovering in a hospital is not something that can easily be explained. It took me years to come to psychological terms with as well as acceptance.

There is light at the end of the tunnel!Cindy, for years, has been trying to be healthier and stronger after a life of abuse and confusion. The fact that she's alive and not locked up somewhere is a miracle. Cindy talked and sang to God in her front lawn to a tree when she was only four years old. She sang, This Little Light of Mine, since she was in so much pain and didn't want other people to hurt as much as she was. This book is a story that journals Cindy's life, that she is an amazing woman of God, whose faith and desire to get healthy got her through all the craziness of her life, that one day she will be completely healed from all her abuse. Cindy's desire is to place this story in the hands of people who believe that God is present even in a life of craziness and abuse, that no means no, that their choices do matter, that they can end their pain, that Cindy's story can give them strength and encouragement when they see no light at the end of the tunnel, and that one day they can be healed too.

Thoughts and questions about "e;The Mother"e; fill my heart, occupy my brain, and inhabit my spirit. There are so many "e;what-ifs"e; and "e;should've,"e; "e;would've,"e; "e;could'ves."e; Lots of us wonder who we were. A few know and are proud of who we are. Then there are those of us who dream of who and what we want to be. The title of this Book was chosen to be what it is because I'm empathetic towards those that are less fortunate than me. It has nothing to do with possessions and even less to do with locations. It (to me) has everything to do with messages. Ones that need to be said and heard. Not just from me, by me, or for me, but "e;us."e; I'm speaking from the perspective of individuals who do not have a voice. Males, females, young, old, aware, mentally asleep, strong, and struggling. For those who think their spiritual requests are shouted loudly but still go unheard. There are so many things that need to be said to so many people and this is just the start. To those, these, and my people...God hears you. Lord, guide my mind, my pen, and my mouth. Use me however you see fit.

For the Love of Tina is a romantic, playful novel that depicts how a teenage first love that ends before consummation can affect drastically the lives of those two teenagers in adulthood. Cash Banfield felt so guilty about cheating on his first love, Tina Townsend, with her cousin Penny that it caused major flaws in his personality and dating habits. When Cash and Tina first met in junior high, he wrote a poem telling the world she would be his first and only love. That pattern would always continue. Cash would write poetry to describe how he felt about every girl and everything in his life that he considered important. Whether good or bad, serious or humorous, his rhyming words were a barometer of how he felt and reacted in all chapters in his life. Cash was always searching out ladies that could match Tina in looks and fantasized that the sex with these ladies could duplicate the passion he never got to achieve with Tina. As the years passed by, he never gave up hope of winning Tina's affection again but was constantly in search of someone special who could make him forget Tina. At eighteen years old, he left his hometown of Wilmington, Delaware, and followed his uncle Matthew to Palm Beach, Florida, where they both were employed at a greyhound racing track. This new atmosphere and freedom gave Cash the money and opportunity to pursue his casual but intense dating rituals with money and beautiful, sexy ladies who found his good looks and insatiable appetite for naughty behavior a pure delight. He found a stripper in a gentleman's club named Vanessa, who surely matched Tina in her looks and her actions. They developed a strong, passionate relationship that lasted for decades and gave him everything he was looking for in a woman except true love. Vanessa would instigate many changes that would influence Cash's life immensely. He developed an addiction for exotic dancers and women who craved for the bright lights, the music, the booze, and the misplaced attention that was given to them by disrespecting male customers. Later on, Cash got a lucrative position as racing secretary at a major horse track in Miami. Now living in fast-paced, sinful Miami with more money and illicit opportunities, his many interesting love interests made his affairs sexy, funny, and sad all at the same time. So join Cash, Tina, Vanessa, and many others in a tongue-in-cheek account of his life, his ladies, and his opinions on life and love - which are unique, interesting, and very amusing.

On March 17th of 2015, my wife Rhonda, "e;Horse-n-Around"e;, and I, the "e;Wrangler"e;, embarked on an epic journey. My role as Wrangler was to manage all the logistics of our travels, with me driving our new Dodge truck with the "e;Hilton"e; attached and meeting my bride along the route wherever possible. She would be either on a Chestnut, a Grey or a Bay, every day riding Northwards on the Pacific Crest Trail, with a start at the Mexican Border and hoping to reach the Canadian border, 2,660 miles away. Rhonda would ride on some of the most rugged and treacherous trail, and view some of the most spectacular vistas in the West. And I would be driving to the next meeting place at a road or trail junction, all the while seeing that we had ample water, food and fodder for our horses and for ourselves safely packed away in the Hilton. Rhonda would be on the crest of the mountain slopes with me in the valleys and nether lands, looking for a likely spot for an overnight stay with horses in tow. Rhonda rode nearly 1,450 miles on the PCT, entirely alone except for the first 3 miles, the last 53 miles when I was able to join her, and for a week when our dear friend Gerry was able to ride and support her. It was a well thought out plan, but not a perfect plan because at every twist in the road or bend in the trail we never knew what we would encounter. But that's the adventure part of the story, isn't it?Rhonda said it best, "e;Will I ever go back and finish those miles I missed? I can't say so yet. I'll have to see how I feel in the future. This was a big year for Pat & I because I turned 60, Pat turns 70 & we celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary. I'm glad I was able to undertake this adventure at this time. I owe a huge "e;THANK YOU"e; to my husband, Patrick, for all the support, both mentally and physically, that he gave me as I worked my way through the challenges of this trail. I'm so very pleased that he rode with me at the end!"e;"e;Thank you everyone for joining us on our way."e; R

In the midst of my quiet time with the Lord, I often thought of how I could be a beckon of light to help others that are depressed, lost, have no hope, searching for an answer, needing deliverance, or just downright in need of a renewing of your mind and a fresh new start. While meditating, I would get either titles to dwell on or even what needed to be said to a multitude of people. Many people may never step a foot inside of a church to receive a Living Word that can change any situation by faith at the drop of a dime. But understand, beloved, God put people in places to be an example of His goodness. Demonstration can happen when you mix faith with the Word of God. When mixed together, it takes on a nature of its own (manifestation). Not just the talk but the walk. God is the author and finisher of our faith. This book is a great tool for a time such as this for a divine appointment, open invitation, to renew your relationship with Christ. So open your ears to hear what the Spirit of God is saying. There's truly a difference between hearing and listening. People, places, and things may change, but the Word of God will stand forever (Hebrews 13:8).

We are earthen vessels for the Creator God. His light shines on us with the seven candlesticks of the menorah from above with star lights keeping the cross of Christ in our hearts so that what is as above is also with us below. God wants us to live life in peace and to depart in fullest capacity, rejecting evil. He may appear slow in anger, but He is rich in blessings and forgiveness. We exist in creation with our souls and spirits wearing organic and inorganic matter. We are most virtuous and worthy. We live in matter but apart from matter with a yearning to know the Creator who does not dwell in matter. With our devoted practices in religions, we try to come close to adorn Him, and with our rigor in science, we try to discover Him. His presence cannot be found upon by us from the lower three dimensions where we live on earth. Our searching methodologies and equations have no meaning unless they express the thoughts of Almighty God who dwells in the higher, nonmaterial, seven dimensions above, residing below on earth. A designed, predetermined time on earth is approaching steadily. We will be transformed, and we shall proclaim, "e;As below on earth so above in the heavens, and as above in the heavens so below on earth. All are one, unified together, integrated under the divine will of God as ONE."e; His mysterious, three-dimensional universe is beyond extraordinary. It is full of natural lights coming from His stars, the seven bright stars of His constellations. The supernatural lights of the higher seven dimensions are behind them to maintain their existence. Together they make the "e;tree of divine dimensions."e; They all will manifest in the Millennium Age to deliver the new heavens with the new earth to initiate the New World for humanity. The heavens and earth will be one under the Creator of all, God in His holy triduum.

Unbridled Forgiveness is a story about the effects abuse can have on a family yet how we as Christians must learn to forgive even what seems most unforgiveable. Like many mornings, Joanne Liggins would awake to find that the love of her life was no longer by her side. She wondered how she could ever be happy again. She and Kenneth had vaguely known each other until attending a party of a mutual friend. From that night on, they quickly fell in love and, once graduating from high school, were married. Soon they had a beautiful baby girl, Bella. Yet now because of one tragic night, Joanne's life seemed over. Her mother, Marcy, had taken over most responsibilities in taking care of young Bella, hoping that someday Joanne would find it in her heart to forgive the madman responsible for all her pain. Marcy and Bill Liggins married young, and from the first day of their life together as husband and wife, Marcy knew this would be no fairy-tale marriage. Prior to their wedding day, Marcy was pursuing her passion and dream of becoming a registered nurse. Bill robbed her of that dream and made sure her life slowly moved toward becoming a nightmare. Each of her four children, Devin, Joanne, Rick, and Fran, had suffered in some way throughout the many years of physical and mental abuse brought on by this madman. Someone who should have loved and protected his family seemed to thrive more and more each year in abusing them. Marcy escaped the place she had tried so hard to make a happy home once, only to find herself drawn back in by the deceit and promises that Bill would never keep. It wouldn't be long before she would see just how much evil her husband enveloped. Soon she would escape him forever, yet at a cost. Kenneth, her loving son-in-law, would lose his life. Anyone that knew Kenneth had been certain that he would do it all over again to save the life of Marcy and her children. He had laid down his life so that others could live and, in doing so, set the Liggins family free. No longer could Bill inflict the abuse as he had done for so many years on his family. Prison would now be his home, a place from where he would seek forgiveness of all the horrible things he had done while living in freedom. The Liggins were each day by day putting their lives back together. Dreams were beginning to take form. Happiness was replacing their once-sullen and fearful hearts. It appeared now that because of the heroic actions of their beloved Kenneth, true love could once again become a possibility. Some had forgiven Bill for the atrocities put on their lives; others had not. Only when we fill our hearts completely with the love of Christ, seeing others the way he sees them, are we able to manifest unbridled forgiveness.

As I traveled across the prairie coming out of Socorro, New Mexico, the morning sun was just beginning to rise in the east. The powerful V-twin and the cool morning air made me feel so alive. It was at this moment that, as the sun lit the mountains with a purple glow to my left and a herd of antelope galloped across the plains to my right, that Ray Charles singing "e;America"e; came across my speakers. All I could do was pull over, sit there in quiet solitude, and look around as this song played and think how lucky I am to live in this amazing country and to see its beauty. This was one of the most moving experiences I have ever felt in my many trips across this country. My trusty motorcycle named Traveler has taken me on so many wonderful adventures. My hope is that this book will inspire you to take off on your own adventures and live your life with no regrets.
