200 Jahre lang, von 1739 bis 1939, haben Juden das Leben in Bad Segeberg mitgeprägt. Sie wurden aber im Laufe der Geschichte niemals völlig akzeptiert. Schon gut drei Jahre vor der Machtergreifung begann die NSDAP in Segeberg ungestört mit der Unterhöhlung des demokratischen Systems; so vollzog sich die Gleichschaltung der Kreisstadt nach der Machtergreifung ohne Komplikationen. Kontinuierlich wurde nun in Segeberg gegen Juden gehetzt. In der Reichspogromnacht gingen auch hier Scheiben zu Bruch und in der kleinen Synagoge wurde ein Feuer gelegt. Es waren aber auch gerade die täglichen Übergriffe, die zur Verdrängung jüdischen Lebens in Bad Segeberg führten. Für die vorliegende Arbeit konnte der Autor auf die jüdischen Gemeindeakten aus den Jahren 1793 bis 1936 zurückgreifen, die er in einem kleinen Archiv wiederentdeckt hat.
