Building Bridges is an anthology showcasing my journey into micro poetry, featuring my previously published haiku, tanka, and tanka prose. Within its pages, I explore small moments from my own backyard and childhood, drawing inspiration from the majestic snow-covered mountains and volcanoes in the North Cascades, as well as the towering giant trees that surround me. The ever-present view of the Puget Sound, which I witness daily while teaching young students, and the rhythmic ocean waves of the Pacific blue, further contribute to the tapestry of my poetic musings. It is in those quiet moments that I find myself crafting new songs. As a dedicated teacher, I have had the privilege of instructing students across various grades, including kindergarten, second grade, third grade, and special education. Beyond the classroom, my passions extend to writing, reading, yoga, photography, and spending time outdoors with my family. In 2013, I ventured into the realm of fiction with the publication of my middle-grade novel, 'Broken Bridges.' My writing journey has also led me to contribute to the education market and share a diverse collection of poetry and short stories. Currently residing in Washington state, I am accompanied by my beautiful wife, Jaci, and our two beloved kitties. Together, we cherish moments with my two children and three stepchildren. • von Eugene Stelzig

The title-Remarkable It Is-refers to the poet's calling to notice things that most of us take for granted (such as our breathing and our hearts beating) but that actually constitute the miracle of our being alive. These poems range from the playfully wistful, to the probingly thoughtful (about old age and the specter of mortality as well as our place in the universe), and the satirical (especially about contemporary politics and world events). The poems in this new collection reflect a "late life" outlook, but they also speak to perennial topics and experiences that readers of all ages should be able to relate to.

The zephyr of an urban city attracts people. For those who stay on, adapting to the hubbub, is inevitable. The cycle of experiences can be broadly shown in three phases. The Brahma Stage, is the learning phase which is full of zest and bliss, spiked with creativity. The Vishnu Stage, is the peak, where the feeling of knowing everything there is to learn, plateaus. The Maheshwara Stage, is when realities dawn upon the self as bitter they can be, in turn making one 'move on' and evolve. The vibrancy of experiences offered in a multi-faceted city, repeats this cycle for individuals. It rewards those who continue to stay, with undying grit and a street smart approach of a survivor. • von Randy Lee White
    23,00 €

Synopsis of, "Scanning Past Horizons: Poetry in Time." With a taste of nostalgia, "Scanning Past Horizons: Poetry in Time," by Randy Lee White delves into the psyche of struggling Americans now and in the past. This thought-provoking and often heart-wrenching collection captures time in a poetic multifaceted view. With poems such as the "Morning Rush," and "Broad and Main," the audience feels the frenzy of rush hour and the workweek. They will plunge into a digital world that is instantaneous and permanent with such poems as: "Weirdest Thing," "Microscopes," and "The Workhorse" before reflecting backwards. Explore a multifaceted view on poetic time: both in the present and in the past. Embrace key moments that have shaped America and the world. Such poems as "The 1903 Flyer," "Bonus. 1932," "Bone Dry, 1935," "Letter for Home, June 1944," and "Moonwalk, 1969," pull readers back in time. These events give a glimpse of a past not so clean, not so righteous-yet, promising. Many of these sonnets will tug at the audience's hearts with light-hearted comedy and realistic drama to create a sense of nostalgic wonder. At the very heart of this collection is a poem about time itself, titled, "Now & Then." It illuminates humanity's struggle to preserve time. In a blink of an eye or the scroll of the platen roller on a typewriter time passes regardless of our feeble attempts to control it. The essence of this collection is time. Time to think; time to ponder. This gathering of poems clearly reflect that facet first shown in the introduction poem. And that same theme vibrates throughout the collection all the way to the last poem. Are we all searching for something to define us? Do we unknowingly judge others? Do we spit on "truth's granite façade," as the old man said. Perhaps his sarcastic attitude can help us see our ignorance in judging others without a better understanding of ourselves. This multifaced collection fills the reader with a sense of purpose in that understanding. In the end, "Scanning Past Horizons: Poetry in Time" is more than a poetic concept of time. It is about our humanity and how certain moments in time have affected us. Furthermore, this collection leaves readers pondering the question of whether we define the events that make history or do the events that make history define us forever? This multifaceted poetry collection will be a timeless glimpse into that abyss and have readers returning again and again.

This is a gathering of poems written in a time that the poet felt a large deal of depression but also hope. This book was written in order to help other people that may feel the same, or would just like someone who gets the raw pain of loss, and losing ones self, just to get back up again and start all over.

Chrysalis depicts my journey from depression, loss, and abuse to freedom and love through poetry. I wrote it during a time of great pain, change, and ultimately growth; my "chrysalis period." This book is largely free-verse, with a few structured poems sprinkled throughout. My wish is for this book to provide hope and healing to those who have suffered from depression or abuse, and show them that there is sunshine on the outside of your Chrysalis. You will break through.

  • von Carolina Colleene
    35,00 €

About The Author - Though born in Utah, Carolina has never lived in one place longer than four years. This nomadic lifestyle has taken her to Texas, for now, working as a 9-1-1 dispatcher. While Carolina was originally an English major in college, she quickly switched to study Experience Design (with an Art History minor!) at Brigham Young University - a major (and minor!) that she does not use. Ironically, her scheduled life of balancing work, church, loved ones, and live music is often broken up by inspiration and the desperate search for a pen to write down new thoughts that will eventually become stories and poems. Maybe she should have stuck with the English major.

"The Sounds a Shadow Makes" is a collection of poems intended to capture "the hidden." These poems bring a voice to the inner thoughts, restrained emotions, quiet fears, and restrained ideas that exist on the fringes and margins of our everyday experience. This collection brings attention to the individual and the way a person experiences life that is unique and distinct from all others. The main theme presented in this collection is that even things that may not be immediately perceptible to our conscience have meaning that is just as real as the observable.

There is a force no evil can destroy, There is a shield no cruel intention can know that it exists. They who are that force, that shield : are the pure messengers. Gliding in the cosmos at all times. Either standing guard or delivering a message. Sometimes, some people walk into our lives where we expressly say that we do not know where they came from, and that they were God sent.

"Lisa M Kendrick has a poetic voice that is clear, distinct and sought after throughout Virginia's literary community. She is the Shero of matriarchs on social media and as the Bad Witch Poet she melts the ego of the patriarchs at every reading. Now in her new collection of poems we finally have Pandora in a box."Nathan M. RichardsonPoet / Author / Douglass HistorianSpiritual Concepts Publishing "I love the poetry of Lisa Kendrick. She makes my ass look timid, and I wasn't behavin' a bit. She makes bible bangers question their belief, consternation can be unsettlin'. You better know your grits 'til you tangle with her. I have, and I like the afterglow."Jack CallanLittle River Poetry Festival "Lisa M Kendrick's flow is even whether addressing social ills, personal tragedies or finding comfort. Her style is flawless and technique versatile, nimbly dappling impressionistic images with clearly and precisely capturing soulful memories. Often projecting quiet in presentation, but not soft - packing surprises and punching rough subjects. In this collection, she bares a past that built the woman warrior."J. Scott Wilson, editor-in-chief - Wider Perspective Publishing, Poet and Author "Power and beauty come together in the poetry of Lisa M Kendrick! Using brilliant metaphors and unafraid to paint her truth with words, the Bad Witch Poet, as she is known locally, crafts spell binding poems that both entertain and make you think long after you put down her poems."Chris FelanVisual artist and spoken word performerMusician with Deathhouse Blues
