The book involves a series of satirical letters from a professor of Deception at Perverse University in Hell. The professor has been writing monthly letters for years to his former students (demons) who are in the United States working to tempt Americans away from their traditional values and heritage. As the author, I claim to have intercepted these confidential letters of instruction and am now publishing them in book form to warn Americans of the lies, deception, and craftiness being used against them by Satan and these former students of P.U. Perverse University is located in Smoke City, Hell. The university colors are red and white and the university mascot is a Fighting Red Devil.

"Spiritual kin to Gertude Stein, Tom Smith exalts in inspired wordplay, running the gamut from sublime nonsense to the most surprising sorts of common sense, so deftly that it's sometimes hard to tell which is which. He is a virtuoso of the ruggedly original." -Harry Smith publishing, poet, essayist (Pulpsmith, The Sexy Sixties) "In Spending the Light we are given…the distilled wisdom and wit and experience of a lifetime, with more than half a century of it devoted to creating memorable and original poetry. There is an extraordinary diversity of form and tone and a rich variety of dramatic voices, not least of which is the clear, strong voice of Tom Smith himself." -George Garrett poet, novelist, author of Whistling in the Dark "These poems sing of the domestic and the familiar and in their quiet power make the humdrum numinous. The poet's facility with simile and metaphor allows quiet observation and wry reaction to soar in significance. His classical allusions escape pedantry and his insights, religious and secular, as well as his uncluttered observation of children, are an important facet of his poetic strength." -David Watmough author of Thy Mother's Glass, Hunting With Diana, et al. "Tom Smith is a poet in Paul Goodman mode-a family man with well-honed peripheral vision. From Spending the Light we discover that changing a life need not mean hiding a life." -Rudy Kikel author of Period Pieces and poetry editor of Bay Windows and The South End News

The life of Joseph is one of the most compelling stories in the pages of the best-selling Book of all time, The Bible. This writing delves deep into the account of Joseph, breaks it down verse by verse, and ties this exciting account directly to other passages throughout the Scriptures. The account of Joseph is connected to passages in both the Old and New Testaments and most importantly, to the life of Jesus Christ. There are many parallels between the life of Joseph and the life that our Lord and Savior Jesus led. The amazing events in Joseph's life were arranged or set by God to give us a preview of what was to come far in the future through God's Messiah, Jesus Christ. While exploring the life of Joseph we will see in more detail that Joseph was undoubtedly a human foreshadowing of the One who was foretold of in the Old Testament Scriptures, Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the long-awaited Messiah of Israel.

Account of how faith trumps fear. This book is an interesting look at how belief and understanding are always mutually exclusive. This book reinforces the Biblical premise that the word alone is not enough for human beings to prosper. Instead, the word must be partnered with thoughts and deeds to create a proverbial tripartite being in the reader. Basically, the Author stresses, through her teachings, the importance of recognizing that before the body can act, the mind must conceive of the act, the heart must embrace the thought conceived of and then the body must move in furtherance of carrying out the act that was conceived of and embraced. There are three essential parts to every being. This book is an excellent tool for tapping into all three aspects of your earthly being. How you receive the word into your thoughts; how you embrace the word in your heart; and ultimately, how you carry out the word, will be determined by how you have been socialized, what your purpose for acting is and who you are surrounded by. This book is a power tool for the effective implementation of practices that will enable the reader to grow in many ways. This includes, but is not limited to growth spiritually, physically, intellectually, morally and psychologically. However, its impact will be determined solely by the reader and their application of the principles detailed herein.

Hope for Weary SoulsWhat does it mean to be soul-weary?Maybe you already know the answer far too well. And what is Hearts-ease? Literally, it is a small, cheerful flower which resembles pansies and violets. In flower meanings it represents peace, rest, healing. Ease for your heart-ache, your heart-break. Jesus is the true source of ease for our hearts. He makes this special promise to every weary soul:"Come unto Me, all ye who labor and are heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me, for I am gentle and humble of heart and you will find rest for your souls."-Matthew 11:28.

The stories in this book reveal how people who do not believe in Biblical truth as Christians still say amazing things concerning what is true. Whether it is an ancient King or political leaders looking to please a crowd, even those who do not believe in God's plan for our salvation speak things that are true without their knowing it. These stories are informative and even amusing as we see who says what and why.

Dirty Laundry Don't Take no Doctor's Orders consists mostly of funny stories gathered during Doctor Skelton's long and active professional life. A few serious stories are included to show that he was serious about his medical practice and his Christian faith. Laugh with Doc as he hears symptoms explained with classic non-medical language, and medical terms used in a way that is more practical than the traditional medical terminology. Be elated with Doc on the couple of occasions when, as a medical student, his diagnosis was correct when that of his world-famous medical Professor was not. Cry with Doc when things did not go so well with patients who were children. Laugh at Doc and some of his professional associates as he relates several stories revealing the true humanity and frailty of some of the characters who daily hold human lives in their hands. It is certainly not a bad thing for a physician to have a sense of humor. Dirty Laundry Don't take no Doctor's Orders is not a book to be read in a single setting. Take your time to enjoy each of these usually very short stories and feel the emotion that Doc felt when they happened to him. My suggestion is that you place the book in your bathroom. That way, your family and friends can join you as you experience the different emotions that the stories in Dirty Laundry Don't Take no Doctor's Orders bring out in you.
