The author states that his zeal for the less fortunate was prompted by the following scripture: "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'" (Matthew 25:40). The author candidly admits that there have been many successes and a few failures on his journey. The successes were due to following the lead of the Holy Spirit. The failures were the result of his own poor choices. The author proclaims the following mission statement for the book: If one senior believer regains the joy of their salvation, or if a believer, young in the faith, utilizes the information in the book to avoid future pitfalls in their journey, the author will consider this endeavor to be a success.About the AuthorD. R. Cooper is a Christian layman and lives in Mobile, Alabama. This book is the result of over fifty years of life experience as a Christian and what he has gleaned from the study of the Holy Scripture. Some of those experiences are: Sunday school teacher, Sunday school director, and initiating and working a Sunday school extension program for the poor and elderly shut-ins in the public housing projects. Cooper has worked with drug addicts and alcoholics in a rehab setting for many years. He has also worked with the homeless by helping them in a monetary way, and, at the same time, proclaiming the Gospel on a face-to-face basis. So he has "spent his time in the trenches," as it were.

It wasn't something inherent in the water that inspired, for she had also received inspiration when staring into the fire, but a force that overtakes you, soothing and quieting you until you don't want to talk anymore and you just want to listen. In the old days, before the ice, people talked to the spirits directly. In time, people narrowed their focus and forgot how to do that. There were few left who could do it-the truthsayers mostly, but even they had forgotten how to read the stones. So when it came to predicting the future, they couldn't see very far. They did confirm that the rumors about an imminent invasion by the southern empire were true. How the people dealt with this news was up to each of them. Most would fight, of course, and those who wouldn't or couldn't hoped the invaders would treat them fairly. Meelah would fight. As any warrior would. But she is also a widowed mother and the daughter of a truthsayer, conflicting duties with conflicting purposes. With a clash of cultures looming over her, she begins to question her ways and decide for herself what parts are worth saving. As she searches for the ultimate truth, she concludes that the best she can do is to find her own truth because, in the end, her own truth is all that she can take with her.About the AuthorLoretta Santoro has had a lifelong interest in all things ancient toward understanding how we came to be where we are today. Of particular interest to her were the ancient Celts and she devoted years to studying those people and their ways, beliefs, and outright tenacity. The reader will find the old ways familiar on some level and that not much has changed in the great human drama except the names and places. Santoro has been writing for others for years, including ghostwriting two books for private clients; authoring many technical documents as a computer programmer; and writing training materials for government program staff. Finally, she had the opportunity to write her own book and enthusiastically took on this challenge. She lives in Norwood, Massachusetts.

  • von Leonard Archie Wilson
    14,00 €

In June 2004, Leonard Archie Wilson underwent open heart surgery for heart failure, often referred to as a cabbage by the medical community, the kind of operation that leaves the patient with a zipper scar on the chest. The operation was successful, but while unconscious, Leonard had the first of many vivid dreams over a fourteen year period. This book is a compilation of those dreams. They range from the mundane to the mystical. At the urging of his daughter, Jacqueline, he kept a journal on his bedside table in which he wrote contemporaneously as he woke from each dream. This book cannot be accurately described as fiction nor is it biographical. They are real experiences, they are dreams. You will find that Poof! is a rollercoaster ride of mystical and imaginative events, buckle up and enjoy.About the AuthorLeonard Archie Wilson was the fourth child born to Leonard and Althea Wilson on the island of Jamaica. While still a baby, the family moved from Jamaica to England as a result of the destruction of the family home by the 1951 Hurricane Charlie. As an intelligent and energetic young man, Wilson used his imagination and creativity, whether learning from his older brother or sharing his experiences with younger siblings. In early spring of 1967, as a teenager, he returned to Jamaica with his family. Jamaica seemed to be completely foreign to him. He was not looking forward to leaving his friends and starting a new life in a foreign country. Wilson's father introduced him to an old friend, a noteworthy jeweler in Kingston. This was the beginning of a four-year apprenticeship and a forty-nine-year career. Wilson married a Michigan girl, who he met while they were both attending West Indies College (currently NCU). They lived in New York in the 1970s. The union was blessed with a boy and a girl. They settled in Pennsylvania for thirty-four years, and Wilson established his full service jewelry store between 1982 and 2016. Two of those years, he presided over the town's business community. Wilson retired in 2016. To date, this is Leonard Archie Wilson's second novel. His first novel was entitled A Jamaican Family's Saga.

Modern Jazz Trumpet Legends is an examination of the lives and contributions of jazz trumpeters born between 1925 and 1940. Included are Miles Davis, Maynard Ferguson, Doc Severinsen, Chet Baker, and Clifford Brown along with scores of other men and women who created jazz with a trumpet. This is an essential guide for the student of jazz, those interested in history, and those who just like to read entertaining true stories about the most colorful people. The Jazz Trumpet Legends three volume series is the most comprehensive book on the subject. In the series, 867 trumpeters are discussed. The second volume covers the trumpeters in the center of the history of jazz. There are the sad stories of those who died too young (Clifford Brown at 25, Ray Wetzel at 27 from automobile accidents; Joe Gordon at 35 from a house fire; Booker Little at 23 from uremia), balanced by the positive stories of those who accomplished much with their lives (Miles Davis invented cool jazz and fusion; Maynard Ferguson took the trumpet to new heights; Lionel Ferbos performed regularly for a couple of years after his hundredth birthday; Clora Bryant and Betty O'Hara showed that women could get the job done on the trumpet). Modern Jazz Trumpet Legends contains two appendices that apply to trumpeters in all three volumes: a yearly calendar showing, for each day of the year, the trumpeters born on that date; and a geographical listing of the states and countries showing, for each place, the trumpeters born there. Early Jazz Trumpet Legends is the first of three volumes organized chronologically by date of birth. The second volume, Modern Jazz Trumpet Legends covers those born between 1925 and 1940 and the third volume, Current Jazz Trumpet Legends, covers those born after 1940. About the AuthorLarry Kemp was born in Los Angeles and spent his preschool years living in Imperial County, California. In elementary school, he moved to Albuquerque, and then to Glenshaw, Pennsylvania, for secondary school. He attended the University of Pittsburgh for seven years and earned his Bachelor's in Classics and a Juris Doctor degree. He was employed for a year at WNUF-FM, the big band station in Millvale, Pennsylvania, and then at WYDD-FM, the Pittsburgh jazz station, for two years. Kemp practiced law in western Pennsylvania for 33 years and retired early because of his annoyance of contracting Parkinson's disease. That freedom from the stress of practicing law enabled him to write this book. He and his wife Virginia moved to Albuquerque to escape the Pittsburgh winters and to live closer to his mother. His adult children, Paul and Carolyn, continue to live in and near Pittsburgh. In Albuquerque, Larry returned to jazz radio and has become the primary host of the program "The House That Jazz Built," on KUNM-FM, a show dedicated to modern, progressive, avant-garde, and free jazz.
