Most surgeons are familiar with the techniques of laparoscopic surgery, however, in children there are variations in size and technical appraoch. The book describes the differences and characteristic aspects of laparoscopy in small children. The emphasis is on little text and numerous drawings. Technical guidelines are given on how to perform laparoscopy safely even in small children. The most frequent indications for laparoscopy in children are presented and discussed. The aim of the book is to provide surgeons with the knowledge to extend their expertise in adult laparoscopy to children.

The study of random graphs was begun by Paul Erdos and Alfred Renyi in the 1960s and now has a comprehensive literature. A compelling element has been the threshold function, a short range in which events rapidly move from almost certainly false to almost certainly true. This book now joins the study of random graphs (and other random discrete objects) with mathematical logic. The possible threshold phenomena are studied for all statements expressible in a given language. Often there is a zero-one law, that every statement holds with probability near zero or near one. The methodologies involve probability, discrete structures and logic, with an emphasis on discrete structures.The book will be of interest to graduate students and researchers in discrete mathematics.

In P2P systems a very large number of autonomous computing nodes (the peers) pool together their resources and rely on each other for data and services. The wealth of business opportunities promised by P2P networks has gene- ted much industrial interest recently, and has resulted in the creation of various industrial projects, startup companies, and special interest groups. Researchers from distributed computing, networks, agents and databases have also become excited about the P2P vision, and papers tackling open problems in this area have started appearing in high-quality conferences and workshops. Much of the recent research on P2P systems seems to be carried out by - search groups with a primary interest in distributed computation and networks. This workshop concentrated on the impact that current database research can have on P2P computing and vice versa. Although researchers in distributed data structures and databases have been working on related issues for a long time, the developed techniques are simply not adequate for the new paradigm.
