Written by twenty-five authors from academia, pharmaceutical industry and Pharmacopeias worldwide, this monograph covers the fundamentals and applications of Quality by Design (QbD) and Analytical Quality by Design (AQbD) in a practical and didactic manner. The book starts by describing the motivation and the urgent need for the implementation of the QbD framework in pharmaceutical development, along with the definition of its major elements: Quality Target Product Profile (QTTP), Critical Quality Attributes (CQAs), Critical Process Parameters (CPPs), Critical Material Attributes (CMAs) and the importance of using multivariate methods of Design of Experiments (DOE). The concept of life cycle and regulatory perspectives are discussed. Three chapters are entirely dedicated to DOE theory from screening to optimization designs. Moreover, a comprehensive discussion on modelling and data treatment is presented. Practical aspects of QbD and DOE for pharmaceutical product and process of different dosage forms is included, as well as a practical guide of the input process variables, material attributes, intermediate, and final quality attributes for the most representative pharmaceutical processes. Analytical Quality by Design (AQbD) is also deeply explored, including risk analysis, definitions of Analytical Target Profile (ATP), Method Operable Design Region (MODR) and the life cycle approach, taking into account the compendial and regulatory perspectives. A detailed example of a new chromatographic method for the quality control of a pharmaceutical topical product based on the AQbD procedure is shown. Finally, advanced statistical approaches and DOE methods for extraction studies of bioactive compounds are also presented. The vast amount of information offered in this book provides a comprehensive perspective on QbD, AQbD and DOE principles, essential tools for modern pharmaceutical and analytical development.

This research monograph examines presidential constitutional conventions and the role they play in the political systems of four Central European countries ¿ the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, and Poland. As primarily unwritten rules of constitutional practice, constitutional conventions represent political arrangements and as such are political in origin. Not only this, constitutional conventions, in general, and presidential constitutional conventions, in particular, have signi¿cant political implications. They shape both the everyday operation and character of regimes. Central Europe represents a particularly useful example on which this role of constitutional conventions can be studied and assessed.

Food, Consumption, and Masculinity in American Hardboiled Fiction draws on three related bodies of knowledge: crime fiction criticism, masculinity studies, and the cultural analysis of food and consumption practices from a critical eating studies perspective. This book examines how women journalists in Malaysia negotiated male power structures, in particular structures determined by the keystone party of the ruling coalition, the United Malays National Organisation. Through both oral histories and content analysis, it looks at how women journalists in the women's pages of the newspapers found spaces to advocate for their readers. It is thus the first work to look at the importance of the women's pages in the Malay-language newspapers, and how apparently monolithic institutions of the authoritarian state hid diverse contests for resources and prestige. In this contest, the concept of news values, the perception of the reader and the ways in which women constructed themselves as journalists all come into play, and are examined here. The book contributes to the field of feminist media studies by examining how gendered newsroom practices paradoxically allowed women journalists in the women's pages more editorial freedom than those in the malestream press.

This book discusses terahertz (THz) wireless communication, particularly for 6G enabling technologies, including antenna design, and channel modeling with channel characteristics for the success of reliable 6G wireless communication. The authors describe THz microstrip antenna technologies with different substrates and introduce some useful substrates to reduce the conductor and substrate losses at the THz frequencies. The discussion also includes the design of the THz unit-cell microstrip antenna and the techniques to boost the microstrip antennas' gain, directivity, and impedance bandwidth (BW), which influence the wireless communication range which is highly affected by the path losses of atmospheric conditions, and transmit and receive data rates, respectively. "Meningiomas are tumors that originate from the arachnoidal cap cells of the leptomeninges. With an incidence rate of 8.36 per 100, 000 population, they are the most common primary central nervous system (CNS) tumors, accounting for a third of all cases. The World Health Organization (WHO) classification has traditionally categorized meningiomas into 15 different histopathological subtypes and three clinical grades. Tumors are classified as WHO grades 1, 2 or 3 based largely on histopathological features such as mitotic activity, presence of brain invasion, and other atypical features. However, there is increasing recognition of the limitations of histopathology including but not limited to: confounding factors such as sampling bias in a heterogeneous tumor, and technical factors related to the experience of the grading pathologist. Even with careful histologic grading, there remains significant variability in recurrence rates within each tumor grade. As more studies have uncovered the molecular features of meningiomas, novel biological alterations have helped refine classification schemes that more accurately reflect patient outcomes. This book reviews the current state of knowledge on the genomic and epigenomic landscape of meningiomas in order to identify the roles of genomic aberrations on diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of meningiomas in addition to mainstays of surgical management, radiation therapy, and potential novel chemotherapies. The book Post-Independence Development in Africa: Decolonisation and Transformation Prospects revisits the development debates and development realities in Africa. This is achieved by offering theoretical comments about post-independence development in Africa and by providing historical details pertaining to the development approaches adopted in Africa immediately after independence in the 1960s and mid-70s. Sitting at the intersection of two sets of scholarly literature, namely; literature on development and literature on development discourses and practices in Africa, the book comprises a mixture of detailed sector-specific accounts of the status of development on the continent. The chapters in the book also contribute to clarifying how the two strands of literature intersect using several case studies across Africa.

Conservation interest in moths, by far the predominant components of Lepidoptera, lags far behind that for butterflies, for which conservation practice provides many well-established lessons for extension to their near relatives. The needs of moths are at least as great, but their greater richness and variety, and far poorer documentation of diversity and biology over much of the world contribute to this lack of attention. Australiäs rich moth fauna, largely endemic and of global interest, illustrates many of the problems of developing wider interest and support for moth conservation. Numerous species (perhaps half the total fauna) are undescribed, and many are ecological specialists in restricted and vulnerable environments over small parts of the continent. Establishing their conservation status and needs whilst accepting that foundation knowledge is highly incomplete and much species-focused conservation is impracticable provides complex problems in setting priorities, based largely on wider diversity and effective advocacy. Most Australian vegetation systems, from grassland to forest and from sea-level to alpine zones, have been eroded in extent and quality since European settlement, resulting in massive habitat changes for native insects and to leave fragmented (and commonly degraded) remnants in which moths and others may persist. Recent surveys continue to increase recorded moth richness, reveal local faunal peculiarities, and indicate how assemblage changes may mirror wider environmental changes. This book is an overview of advances in documenting and interpreting moth diversity and ecology, to show how information from better-studied moth faunas can help in planning conservation of Australiäs moths through measures such as understanding the moths themselves by increased surveys and study, the factors influencing their diversity and wellbeing, and how such threats may be countered through increased coordinated conservation interest, commitment and management.

Dadäs Subject and Structure argues that Dadaist praxis was far more theoretically incisive than previous scholarship has indicated. The book combines theoretical frameworks surrounding ideological subject formation with critical media and genre histories in order to more closely read Dadaist techniques (e.g. montage, irony, nonsense, etc.) across multiple works. These readings reveal both Dadäs preternatural focus on the discursive aspects of subject formation¿linguistic sign, literary manifesto, photographic image, commodity form/aesthetics, which comprise the project¿s chapters¿and on Dadäs performative sabotage and subversion of them. In addition to highlighting commonalities between Dadaist works, artists, and chapters previously imagined disparate, the book shows how Dada simultaneously prefigured structuralist theories of subject formation and pre-performed post-structuralist critiques of those theories.
