Any book with the words percutaneous and interventional is immediately identified as one that brings to its readers a distillation of a number of new and exciting techniques. Percutaneous is not exactly a new word but it has come to take on an entirely new meaning in recent years.

This collection of papers on different aspects of gynaecological oncology is taken from the proceedings of the Second International Conference on Gynaecological Cancer held in Edinburgh in Sep tember 1983. It has often surprised me that in order to study the subject of obstructive uropathy, it is necessary to search through various sections of several urological, surgical and radiological textbooks rather than turn to one work on the subject.

When 1 first developed an interest in the pathology of bone 1 found that there were relatively few books on the subject available.
