This textbook provides an overview of the fundamental concepts in continuum mechanics for application in real material behavior analysis. With the increasing penetration of renewable energy and distributed energy resources, smart grid is facing great challenges, which could be divided into two categories. On the one hand, the endogenous uncertainties of renewable energy and electricity load lead to great difficulties in smart grid forecast. On the other hand, massive electric devices as well as their complex constraint relationships bring about significant difficulties in smart grid dispatch. Owe to the rapid development of artificial intelligence in recent years, several artificial intelligence enabled computational methods have been successfully applied in the smart grid and achieved good performances. This book presents detailed aspects of different fields of molecular spectroscopy. The volume collects several contributions to the INDAM workshop Mathematical Methods for Objects Reconstruction: from 3D Vision to 3D Printing held in Rome, February, 2021. This book evaluates the legislative effectiveness of Nigeriäs National Assembly under the Fourth Republic. The assessment covers five Assemblies (4th¿8th) and focuses specifically on lawmaking, cost of running the National Assembly, and the budget making process. It empirically assesses the effectiveness of the Nigerian national legislature beyond previous emotional and sentimental evaluations of the institution. It has developed a model ¿Institutional Legislative Effectiveness Score¿ used in assessing the institutional performance of the National Assembly from two perspectives: first, by comparing the performances of the two chambers in the same Assembly; and second, by comparing the performances of the institution across Assemblies. Aside lawmaking, the book also covers the major topical issues that characterized public evaluation of the institution. These include: size of the institution, budgeting process, cost of funding the institution, and the debate on the appropriate way in reforming the National Assembly.

This book provides a new way of understanding Japanese management by focusing on the relationship between Japanese companies and their social practices. Whereas previous studies have often concentrated on the uniqueness of Japanese companies' systems (e.g., lifetime employment, the seniority system, company-specific unions) or methods (e.g., bottom-up management, Toyota production methods), this book explains the uniqueness of Japanese companies¿ activities and practices. It especially highlights the day-to-day cleaning activities that many companies have practiced for numbers of years, regardless of their size or industry. Activities that continue beyond a certain period of time are called social practices, and the book clarifies how this particular social practice has historically been formed in Japanese companies and then shows what it means to keep cherishing those cleaning practices.This study consists of two parts: historical research and theoretical research. The historical research sheds light on the relationship between Japanese companies and cleaning activities from a historical point of view. On the basis of old literature and in-house documents, the reader can understand how Japanese companies have positioned cleaning practices in the process of increasing their growth potential and competitiveness and in maintaining their businesses.The second part explains theoretically the relationship between cleaning and management with quantitative and qualitative data from Japanese companies today. This book reviews the physiological mechanisms of diverse insect clocks, including circadian clock, lunar clock, tidal clock, photoperiodism, circannual rhythms and others. It explains the commonality and diversity of insect clocks, focusing on the recent advances in their molecular and neural mechanisms. In the history of chronobiology, insects provided important examples of diverse clocks. The first report of animal photoperiodism was in an aphid, and the time-compensated celestial navigation was first shown in the honeybee. The circadian clock was first localized in the brain of a cockroach. These diverse insect clocks also have some common features which deserve to be reviewed in a single book. The central molecular mechanism of the circadian clock, i.e., the negative feedback loop of clock genes, was proposed in Drosophila melanogaster in the 1990s and later became the subject of the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2017. Thereafter, researches on the molecular and neural mechanisms in diverse insect clocks other than the Drosophila circadian clock also advanced appreciably. Various new methods including RNAi, NGS, and genome editing with CRISPR-Cas9 have become applicable in these researches. This book comprehensively reviews the physiological mechanisms in diverse insect clocks in the last two decades, which have received less attention than the Drosophila circadian clock.
