U romanu sa autobiografskom pozadinom poku¿ao je autor opisati dominantne i väne dogäaje i iz njih izvu¿ene pouke, iz zadnjih 70 godina njegovog (Felixovog) ¿ivota. Gledao je kroz lica i ¿itao izme¿u redova. Vidio je maske i upoznao kameleone. U svom lutanju kroz vrijeme i prostor upoznao je razne (uglavnom ru¿ne) odnose izme¿u: jakih i slabih, mu¿karaca i ¿ena, domäina i stranaca, odraslih i djece, obrazovanih i malogräana, poslodavaca i radnika - i drugih. Bio je skoro 50 godina "Auslaender" a to je jedno posebno iskustvo - za one koji znaju päljivo gledati i slu¿ati. Mladoliki ¿e se prisjetiti svog djetinstva - ako su ga uop¿e imali.
