The book gives the details of thin shell roofs using concrete. No structural form perhaps does greater justice to the special attributes of concrete than thin shell construction. They derive strength through form rather than through mass. Of late, there is a great demand for large span roofs for buildings due to various functional requirements like sports stadia, convention centres, theatres, exhibition halls etc. I am giving an overview of some selected structures with large span concrete roofs.. It includes the design parameters, choice of construction materials, selection of structural system and the construction techniques adopted. The analysis and design of large span concrete roofs is indeed a challenging and interesting job compared to conventional roofs. In addition to a careful consideration of all critical load combination on the structure, analysis of the structural behaviour, during different stages of construction, if different from that of the fully built structure and final design are all essential steps for the successful realization of a large span structure.In this book I have discussed different types of shell structures. Most of them are either built or under construction and a few of them are yet to be constructed. Creep is an important aspect in concrete that is time dependent deformation and in shells the creep is to be taken care of.The development of concept design for shell and spatial structures is an art by itself and it depends on many factors like, type of roof, construction methodology, function, aesthetics etc. Recent availability of advanced computer softwares even for a small design office, facilitates usage of complex forms and shapes. Thin concrete shells consume the least amount of materials both cement and steel. Specially, important point is minimum consumption of cement. The book is an attempt to cover contemporary architecture of India from 1985 to 2021. It traces the history of architecture by covering most of the buildings built during this period. This publication is an endeavour to cover works of small cities, towns and villages which require a different kind of tackling altogether, as skilled manpower is not easily available at such places. Required machinery and equipment to construct buildings are not available either. The main body of work highlights projects catering to the lower and middle income groups, barring some exceptions of prestigious projects. Current issues from the field of architecture have been addressed in the book by quoting practical examples.

His Revelation [I have named Creative Mysticism in my second PhD] is preserved in 974 shabads [hymns] in the sacred scripture of the Sikh Faith, Sri Guru Granth Sahib [SGGS]. The Sikh Bible contains, among many things, his major prayers such as Japuji, Asa di Var, and Siddha-Gosht. An inviolable tenet of the Sikh Faith is that the soul of Guru Nanak's sacrosanctity, divinity, and religious authority was infused into each of his nine successors when they were admitted to his Spiritual Ministry.The genesis, growth, worth, and perennial relevance of the Sikh Faith began with the birth of the founder Guru Nanak Dev in 1469 CE to the death of Guru Gobind Singh in 1708 CE. This period coincided with the establishment and consolidation of the Mughal Empire in India. The Mughal rulers followed the policy of oppression and persecution that the Sikh Gurus fiercely opposed and even sacrificed their lives to uphold the fundamental human rights grounded in the recognition of the intrinsic goodness and dignity and of the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family such as equality before law, freedom of speech and expression, freedom to practise religion, and freedom to seek justice through peaceful and legal means.

Life comes and goes, and we quickly let our minds and senses drift away like the gushing water of a river. It doesn't take a tremendous effort to initiate a short text, poem, or song lyric to record an account. Acute severe illnesses like septic shock, acute respiratory distress syndrome, heart failure, severe trauma, poisoning and many others that were once considered fatal have good survival with intensive care. While there is no doubt that intensive care save lives, mention of ICU can create a feeling of unease and intimidation among patient and their families. Patients in ICU are socially isolated, sedated, unable to communicate and sometimes restrained.
