Therefore, a substantial part of this book explores the many aspects surrounding this theme. Due to renewables playing a very important role in the green transition, the final part of this book explores investment opportunities related to the development of these alternative sources of energy.

The book presents advanced methods of integral calculus and optimization, the classical theory of ordinary and partial differential equations and systems of dynamical equations. It provides explicit solutions of linear and nonlinear differential equations, and implicit solutions with discrete approximations.The main changes of this second edition are: the addition of theoretical sections proving the existence and the unicity of the solutions for linear differential equations on real and complex spaces and for nonlinear differential equations defined by locally Lipschitz functions of the derivatives, as well as the approximations of nonlinear parabolic, elliptic, and hyperbolic equations with locally differentiable operators which allow to prove the existence of their solutions; furthermore, the behavior of the solutions of differential equations under small perturbations of the initial condition or of the differential operators is studied.

Calculi of temporal logic are widely used in modern computer science. The temporal organization of information flows in the different architectures of laptops, the Internet, or supercomputers would not be possible without appropriate temporal calculi. In the age of digitalization and High-Tech applications, people are often not aware that temporal logic is deeply rooted in the philosophy of modalities. A deep understanding of these roots opens avenues to the modern calculi of temporal logic which have emerged by extension of modal logic with temporal operators.Computationally, temporal operators can be introduced in different formalisms with increasing complexity such as Basic Modal Logic (BML), Linear-Time Temporal Logic (LTL), Computation Tree Logic (CTL), and Full Computation Tree Logic (CTL*). Proof-theoretically, these formalisms of temporal logic can be interpreted by the sequent calculus of Gentzen, the tableau-based calculus, automata-based calculus, game-based calculus, and dialogue-based calculus with different advantages for different purposes, especially in computer science.The book culminates in an outlook on trendsetting applications of temporal logics in future technologies such as artificial intelligence and quantum technology. However, it will not be sufficient, as in traditional temporal logic, to start from the everyday understanding of time. Since the 20th century, physics has fundamentally changed the modern understanding of time, which now also determines technology. In temporal logic, we are only just beginning to grasp these differences in proof theory which needs interdisciplinary cooperation of proof theory, computer science, physics, technology, and philosophy.

There is a rich history of achievements by Chartered Surveyors in Singapore going back as far as the 1880s. Their stories have largely gone untold. This book tells the stories of individual Chartered Surveyors in Singapore over the first hundred years since the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors was founded (1868 to 1968) and explains the role they played in the development of Singapore. The book also includes the stories of the pioneer Singaporean Chartered Surveyors from the 1940s onwards, many of whom studied overseas but returned to Singapore where they would play important roles in the real estate industry over future decades.

Boron has long occupied a privileged role in chemistry (as a catalyst component) and human health (as a micronutrient). The introduction of spin is believed to be a necessary tool if one wishes to quantize general relativity. Then the main problem is to see if the introduction of spin generalizing the general relativity from a geometric point of view, i.e. through the concept of torsion, can be experimentally verified.The reader can find in this book both theoretical and experimental arguments which show the necessity for the introduction of spin, and then of torsion, in gravity. In fact, torsion constitutes the more natural and simple way to introduce spin in general relativity. For that reason it is of fundamental importance to see if there are some experiences that indicate - if not directly, then at least indirectly - the presence of torsion. This book presents a discussion on experiments with a polarized-mass torsion pendulum, the search for galactic dark matter interacting with a spin pendulum, a description of a space-based method for determination of the gravitational constant and space-based measurements of spin in gravity, as well as a discussion on theoretical arguments, for instance the nature of torsion and nonmetricity, the viability of gravitational theories with spin-torsion and spin-spin interaction, many-dimensional gravitational theories with torsion, spinors on curved spaces, the spinors in real space-time, etc.We know that until now there has been no evidence for torsion, but this fact cannot prevent us from considering in some detail this implement of research that seems to be important from both a geometrical and a physical point of view.

Graphene-like materials have attracted considerable interest in the fields of condensed-matter physics, chemistry, and materials science due to their interesting properties as well as the promise of a broad range of applications in energy storage, electronic, optoelectronic, and photonic devices.The contents present the diverse phenomena under development in the grand quasiparticle framework through the first-principles calculations.
