  • - Love as an Ultimate Unifier
    von Michael Bassey Eneyo
    28,00 €

This book is borne out of the author's desire to introduce Philosophy of Unity as one of the emerging philosophical paradigms tasked with the responsibility of offering practical ideas to contend with the alarming crisis, disunity, division, disassociation, war, terrorism, distrust and the general unrest that have engulfed the present human society. The author decries human disjointedness from the original purpose of love and the need for complementary living. Thus, attributing the challenges so experienced in the recent human tension-laden society to this negation. The book stands out as a portal of plethora of knowledge that unravels love as the ultimate unifier of the multiplicity of things in the universe, of which the unity and the separation of things in the world are necessitated by it. The author reasoned that, without love, the idea of the universe is inconceivable. The principle of inclusiveness is adopted by the author to drive home the point that the warring opposites, the conflicting issues and the fragments characterizing the universe should not be taken as reasons for division and disunity. Rather, it should be seen as means through which human limitations can be overcome if these different entities are brought together for the overall good of human beings. Hence, all fragments and their opposites are necessary since it is by their existence that our individuals and collective essences are fully put to use.The book is highly recommended for the general public, countries, especially those with multiple religions and ethnicities. It is very relevant to scholars in the areas of Philosophy, Religion, Political Science, Public and International Studies, Public Administration and Sociology. It is also useful to those who study or engage in conflict resolutions, especially in the crisis-prone communities. All lovers of wisdom will find the book useful in their respective areas of research.

This is one of the stories inspired by a childhood journey with my family from Raga to Wau, towns in western Bahr el Ghazal in the southern part of the Sudan in 1987. What had prompted me to write the memoir had been the events that had followed the South Sudanese attainment of a sovereign state. This is a story that depicted what was sought after even before my birth. I came along and joined the march to demand for equal status. For me most parts of the story had been tough. In my writing, I had to take an expedition of self-composure. I had to take my forethought into an anticipated future and come back to write with that visualization. I had to withdraw my sentiment from what could call for vengeance and speak up for what the child had stood for. Within it is a reflective memoir about the power of a good cause and a family who believed in the triumph of the people. In their enactment, they raised a child within a time disguised by war and social discords. In a subtle journey along the lines of family relations and social associations, the story evolved.

Making Money Without Money relates the author's experience of making more money in a week running a course than he had ever made over the same time period when he held paid jobs. The story is even more impressive in that he made this money without spending any money; in fact, he did this when he was completely broke as a result of being unemployed for 8 months after being forced to resign from his last job. Following that first experience, he developed several other courses based on the knowledge he had acquired over the years of working in the coffee industry and made even more during the following few months, using the same strategy of not spending any of his own money. That was back in 2001. The experience changed the course of his life. He has been self-employed since as a writer, speaker, trainer and mentor.

This is a wry but candid first-person account of the scandal surrounding the corruption of the NSW Minister for Corrective Services Rex Jackson. It is written by the then high-profile criminal defence lawyer who was jailed for his part in it. It winds through an intriguing slice of Sydney's 'colourful' underworld at that time - half-arsed crims; some straight and some very bent coppers; dodgy policing practices; court tactics; informants now named; prison life and the kindness of fellow prisoners.Behind all this there is an uneasy backdrop of paranoia-tinged menace - suspected conspiracies, reports of betrayals and executions, anonymous death threats. This dark account is nuanced by its unexpected humour and the gently passing story of his Jewish family, their feuds and oddities, and his parents' brave move from grey post-war England to promised 'Sunny Australia'. They were bolstered by the success of their eldest son and dismayed by his eventual downfall as a self-described 'corruptible sod'. This account is worrying, sad and drily comic.

I grew up during the hardships of World War II in a family with limited income and a father devoted to racing pigeons left behind by two brothers who didn't return from war. Life was tough. My holidays at a fishing village dictated subsistence living and improvisation. With limited schooling my cousins learnt to build canoes, sailing boats, launches and two weatherboard homes designed with pencil sketches. My grandfather surprised me when thirteen years old with seven magic words that helped shape my attitude to life. From being shy, my athleticism led to a range of different sports, and I played with and against some of the greats, including three Australian legends. As a young engineer I earned the respect of my technical staffs and rose to be regarded as a technical expert. This became a stumbling block for further promotion.I found my sport, coaching, life experience, and the study of creativity, held the leadership skills which enabled me to reach the fast lane of business. The financial rewards, the opportunity to experience other cultures and see some world treasures, were balanced by stress, health problems, and lost family time.I believe my story and what I've learnt show how to improve motivation, learn new skills, and enhance self-esteem.

This book shows teachers and students how meter fundamentals are taught through Ski-hill Graph Pedagogy, the three-step psychoacoustic mathematical music theory approach developed by music educator-researcher Andrea M. Calilhanna, inspired by contemporary meter theory of Battell Professor of the Theory of Music, Yale University, Richard Cohn. The ski-hill graph enables students to visually represent meter fundamentals mathematics through a soundbased approach experienced from listening to music in the first lessons!Students taught the meter as time signatures and beats grouped in measures understand meter as the notation. However, the ski-hill graph is a solution for understanding meter because music is acoustics (sound) and listening is central to Cohn's sound-based theories. To apply accurate meter mathematics from the ski-hill graph to music preparation means students save time later in rehearsals from a solid start to decode their work. Visualising meter through the ski-hill layout as a summary of all pulses and all meters from listening assists students to understand their meter experiences and its mathematical aspects.Students listen, clap, tap and map with mathematics: meter beat-class, first through the ski-hill, then they apply the ski-hill mathematics to annotate, practice and compose music through other representations such as linear and circle graphs. In this way, students not only become aware of new information, but they also understand their new knowledge. Knowing and understanding mathematical elements of meter means the theory can apply to performance to improve timing, inform expression, sight-reading and much more!Without skills to analyse meter from listening to music, many important details are left out because they are hidden by notation-based understandings of music analysis. Cohn's theories of meter, however, offer solutions to understand each pulse and meter as cycles to decode music performed and listened to. The book works through small cycles to grow listeners' awareness of mathematical aspects of meter: mathematical music theory. The Ski-hill Graph Pedagogy approach provides students with several benefits for meter fundamentals pedagogy, including development of mathematical knowledge and practical skills to understand musical timing and expression, and increased performance confidence through more secure performances from critical thinking and metacognitive processes.Ski-hill Graph Pedagogy is suitable for most teaching styles, and provides inclusive, ethical music theory for diverse music education. Suitable for teaching meter fundamentals with students of all ages.

This book is about how food, over time, has been cooked by pioneers and by people, today, to show how their food and their recipes have changed over time. This has fascinated has me. Most dishes are based upon past food ideas. Australia can be considered a multicultural country and its people have reflected this. I have also tried to explain from where ideas have come, how they have developed and how they have been folded through the 'cooking' mixture. I hope you enjoy the reading, cooking, and the consumption of these delightful and tasty recipes.

My book 'Don't Fear Death' is my autobiography, describing my memories of my earliest childhood on the Isle of Wight in southern England during WWII, followed by moving to London and growing up there. My schooling is described at various primary schools followed by secondary schooling at Woolverstone, Suffolk, at a boys' boarding school on the banks of the River Orwell. My university training in London is described, together with my geological work in Turkey as a student and as a graduate in Ghana, Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands. I then describe my return to UK for further studies firstly for an M.Sc.in Metallurgy, and later for a PhD in Mineral Technology. It also mentions the tragic death of my father just after I had finished my first degree. The book also describes my later formal immigration to Australia as a 'Ten-pound Pommie' and my subsequent interstate moves around Australia as I moved from job to job as my career as a mineral processing engineer developed. The latter half of the book is taken up by describing my experiences with occult arts like clairvoyancy, the Ouija board, and my meeting with the amazing clairvoyant Alan Pilkington. It was through him that I joined a Sai Baba group and eventually went to India to visit this spiritual master at Puttaparthi where I witnessed some amazing manifestations along with the rest my group. But even more amazing is that this spiritual journey was accurately predicted by a clairvoyant/trance channeling duo several years before it actually happened. My book finishes with a discussion about reincarnation and the very compelling evidence that attests to its reality.

Why did the Methodist missionaries seek out the full blood tribal yolngu (Aborihinal) of north-east Arnhem Land who fiercely resisted intruders into their practically unknown and untamed country? One answer was the Bible, and another was by the 1920s the plight of the Australian Aboriginee because of contact with Europeans across wide Australia. What did happen to the yolngu who lived by their own laws at the time of the arrival of the first Europeans, the Christian mission balanda in 1923, when they settled onto their land?Yolngu from (law) was enforced by the spear throughout their lands until the missionaries with the Bible and the cross of Jesus arrived. The Australian Police then, although the missionaries were only few in number, began to visit to support new western laws that were being introduced to the yolngu where justice was dealt with by the law courts and enforced by the power of the gun, so when the law was broken there was the possibility of imprisonment, and also in those days there was the most deadliest of all western laws - capital punishment. With the arrival of the Mthodist Overseas Mission with modern conveniences and living conditions for the yolngu, it therefore attracted many other yolngu clans living on the mainland to come and live at Milingimbi,The mission in particular became a buffer between the yolngu and the outside encroaching western dominant society, so our yolngu communities began to grow and prosper which was contrary to many communities down south where Aboriginals from their first contact with mainstream Europeans became disempowered, and as their lands were being fenced and taken from them they bagan to die off in large numbers and by the 1920s they were looked upon as a dying race with the possibility of extinction.
