The Adventures of Excelsior: The House of Surprises is a humorous story about disasters that overtake a family home. Due to a faulty button on the toilet, the backup of sewage ended up overflowing into the backyard. Through this incident the family learned about the sewage treatment plant in Bondi, Australia. And they also learned how the stuff in the toilet makes its way there, and what happens to it once it gets to the treatment plant. Mum, Dad, and Jayjay, their curious five-year-old, go through an adventure coping with the mess, the smell, and finding ways to clean up the mess. A true story. In hindsight, we can laugh about it, and we are happy to share with our readers the misadventures of this unfortunate house on Excelsior. Walk with us through The Adventures at Excelsior and all the surprises that awaited us.

"Recognizing Prior Learning: Unlocking Skills and Opportunities" by I myself Ras Banamungu is an insightful and practical guide that explores the concept of recognizing and utilizing prior learning experiences to unlock new skills and opportunities for personal and professional development. With a focus on personalized pathways to success, the book provides a comprehensive framework for individuals to harness their existing knowledge and competencies, enabling them to embark on new career paths or advance in their current fields. I begin by explaining the importance of recognizing prior learning and how it can serve as a valuable asset in today's rapidly changing job market. Drawing from extensive research and real-life examples, I demonstrate how individuals can identify, assess, and validate their existing skills and knowledge acquired through various informal and non-traditional learning experiences. My book offers practical strategies and step-by-step guidance on how to document and present prior learning to employers, educational institutions, and certification bodies. I explore different assessment methods, such as portfolio development, competency-based evaluations, and recognition frameworks, providing readers with the tools to effectively communicate their skills and credentials. Moreover, "Recognizing Prior Learning" delves into the potential barriers and challenges faced by individuals seeking to validate their prior learning. I also address issues of bias, discrimination, and the need for inclusive recognition processes, emphasizing the importance of equity and fairness in assessing skills and qualifications. Throughout the book, I emphasize the transformative power of recognizing prior learning and its potential to open doors to new career opportunities. I highlight success stories of individuals who have used their prior learning to secure promotions, transition to new industries, or gain admission to higher education programs. By sharing these inspiring narratives, I encourage readers to embrace their own learning journeys and to have confidence in the value of their past experiences. "Recognizing Prior Learning: Unlocking Skills and Opportunities" is a thought-provoking and practical resource for individuals seeking to enhance their career prospects and personal growth. It empowers readers to leverage their prior learning experiences, regardless of their formal educational background, and offers guidance on navigating the complex landscape of skills recognition. This book is a valuable tool for anyone interested in embracing personalized pathways to success and maximizing their potential in an evolving professional landscape.

This book tells of a young couple who struggled against the odds to introduce a seaplane service to New Zealand's Marlborough Sounds, and to members of the travelling public between the South and North Islands.Locals looked askance at what was a totally new concept to the area, but the aeroplanes soon became accepted, especially after their lifesaving use in emergencies was recognised by people in the far-flung reaches of the outer Sounds.Russell Smith, owner and pilot, writes of years of incredible happenings, some adventurous, many humorous, and some just plain harrowing. One account bordering on surreal, occurred at a boat ramp where he was surrounded by nine policemen, accused of being a UFO from outer space! Unbelievable, but true, as is the whole book.

For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to write a book. One that could reach out to others and give them hope and courage. To give the reader a belief that they are not alone in their struggles, in their pain. To help them to know that they are enough, just the way they are. Throughout my life I have used poetry as an overflow valve. A way to externalise the intense feelings building up inside of me. It is my hope that the pages in this book are a source of comfort, kinship and validation for those who read it.

Typically without conscious awareness, we neglect to see that we live in a mythical world largely operating on a vision of segmenting and reductionism, focusing on the smallest particles. Yet, there are other myths too we are influenced by and may influence them to serve our growing consciousness for a good life. For, example, there is Sisyphus, the Panopticon, the Scapegoat, Das Capital, and Metamorphosis as literary and powerful motivational contexts driving humanity.A person desperate for survival heaves up his life, family, and capital. Meanwhile, they always think they are being watched by the spiritual and physical Panopticons. To reach the mountain-top and subdue their competitors or enemies, they scapegoat innocent people. We see millions of people become refugees, victims, laborers, and disabled by wars, beliefs, egos, needs, desires, and the pursuit of happiness. Yet, progress is not so easy, it is even ironic. Not only in our escaping we scapegoated ourselves but humans also scapegoated Nature. Driven by a recurrence of fear-based ways and stories, Heavenly Earth became Hell by our doing. It is time to see fear for its major role. It is time to excavate and rewrite history, culture, morality, politics, literature, and philosophy through a systematic criticism of Sisyphus, the Panopticon, and the Scapegoat point of view. This book is the foundation for it. Among a number of analytical perspectives, it focuses on classic existential literary teaching stories, like Metamorphosis, The Myth of Sisyphus, and NoExit from a new Fearmorphosis lens.

My name is Jesse Boughton, and I am 30 years of age this year. I am a tradesmen plumber but currently I am a supervisor for an explosive company in the coalmining industry. I have always been a little on the creative side and have enjoyed drawing ever since I was a little kid. Since I began my working career after school I have slowly drifted away from my artistic side and I thought what better time to do something creative then now.

Cleo was bought from a registered breeder, who was at the time my husband's work mate and who brought some adorable Siamese kittens to the television station. He couldn't resist them and soon after brought home one little screamy bundle. The kitten was with us through ups and downs moving from a rented flat to our own unit and then to our newly built home and garden, where she lived for most of her life. It was incredible how quickly she would adapt to a new place yet those were the matters that worried us most. Cleo's arrival changed our life. In a way she taught us, in her dignified way, to be more attentive to her needs while at the same time she was a willing learner to our commands. We became less selfish and more caring. It was clear to us we had a great responsibility looking after this tiny, helpless living being, who was depending on us to live, to survive. To be able to do that, the most important thing is LOVE for animals. People are not bad people because they cannot or want not to have pets. Therefore, it is not a good idea to give a little kitten as a gift to anyone. An individual has to make his/her own decision weather or not he/she would have sufficient love, time and money to care for a pet.

This is one of the stories inspired by a childhood journey with my family from Raga to Wau, towns in western Bahr el Ghazal in the southern part of the Sudan in 1987. What had prompted me to write the memoir had been the events that had followed the South Sudanese attainment of a sovereign state. This is a story that depicted what was sought after even before my birth. I came along and joined the march to demand for equal status. For me most parts of the story had been tough. In my writing, I had to take an expedition of self-composure. I had to take my forethought into an anticipated future and come back to write with that visualization. I had to withdraw my sentiment from what could call for vengeance and speak up for what the child had stood for. Within it is a reflective memoir about the power of a good cause and a family who believed in the triumph of the people. In their enactment, they raised a child within a time disguised by war and social discords. In a subtle journey along the lines of family relations and social associations, the story evolved.
