A Commentary on Herodotus: Volume II: Books V-IX

Herodotus has been called "the father of history" by Cicero and other ancient critics, and was the first to research and verify events of the past, and relate their consequences to the present. The main subject of his "Histories" is the Greek-Persian conflict from Croesus to Xerxes.
