Popular biologist Sy Montgomery has engaged in full immersion journalism in his search for the wild, lone, carnivorous octopus. She has made friends with octopuses that have incredibly diverse personalities, like the kind Athena, the confident Octavia, the inquisitive Kali, and the happy Karma, in places including New England aquarium tanks, French Polynesian reefs, and the Gulf of Mexico.
