The French botanist Labillardiere participated in the search for the missing La Perouse expedition. Published in 1800, this is the English translation of his acclaimed narrative, complete with a volume of finely engraved plates. The work is especially notable for its descriptions and illustrations of the indigenous peoples of Australasia.
