Anecdotes of British Topography

The antiquarian Richard Gough (1735-1809) wanted the study of British history and antiquities to be more scholarly and thorough. This major work, published in 1768, was a gazetteer of published and unpublished materials of all kinds relating to the local history and topography of Great Britain and Ireland.
