Former nano-soldier Tangie Newsham may be trapped in the hidden realm of Hyfold -- a land of magic beneath the ordinary world -- but it's not all bad.

After earning the queen's favor by recovering the lost Scepter of Truth, she's been given the title of Baroness, along with a home and a village to govern in the Kingdom of Thidora. She has great friends, and life is peaceful.

Until assassins claiming to operate on behalf of Thidora arrive at her doorstep, intent on killing her ... along with the other members of her party who quested for the scepter.

Now the queen is missing, one of Tangie's dearest friends has been accused of treason, and armies of black-clad soldiers and magic-wielding creatures roam the kingdom, bent on destroying Tangie and everyone she cares for.
