At the Heart of Luke

At the Heart of Luke is a unique contribution to Lucan studies focusing on the conspicuous concentration of Jesus' parables in chapters 14-16 of this gospel. Emmrich argues that this complex of texts forms the theological heart of Luke. The theme of reversal is the trademark common denominator of virtually all the stories and wisdom sayings assembled in this well-defined text unit. As such, it is key to the essential message of Luke's Gospel and furnishes the rationale for its inevitable climax, the great reversal of Jesus' cross.
