This book provides a detailed and sympathetic look at Australian indigenous culture in 1881. Written by James Dawson, who argued for more respectful treatment of Aborigines, it is essentially an early anthropological text. It also provides an extensive vocabulary, composed by Dawson with the help of his daughter.
