Within the research on the impact of workload on human performance, a lot of significant indicators for the interpretation have been produced. Therefore different methods have been created in recent years and many new possibilities have been developed. Nowadays, medical and other areas of all kinds are capable of using the benefits of detecting mental states such as arousal, vigilance, fatigue, mental load and their origins. This is especially prominent in transportation, as aviation and automotive industry pay more attention to the mental state and cognitive loads of vehicle drivers and pilots. This leads to the improvement of the systems used in terms of usability, informational value, measurement accuracy, as well as their used algorithms. The aim of this book is to illustrate the usability of measuring cognitive states and the methods in biometrical research using low-cost biometrics by evaluating recorded metrics.

No âmbito da investigação sobre o impacto da carga de trabalho no desempenho humano, foram produzidos muitos indicadores significativos para a interpretação. Por conseguinte, nos últimos anos foram criados métodos diferentes e muitas novas possibilidades foram desenvolvidas. Hoje em dia, a medicina e outras áreas de todos os tipos são capazes de utilizar os benefícios da detecção de estados mentais, tais como excitação, vigilância, fadiga, carga mental e suas origens. Isto é especialmente proeminente no transporte, já que a aviação e a indústria automotiva prestam mais atenção ao estado mental e às cargas cognitivas dos motoristas e pilotos de veículos. Isso leva à melhoria dos sistemas utilizados em termos de usabilidade, valor informativo, precisão de medição, bem como seus algoritmos utilizados. Im Rahmen der Forschung über die Auswirkungen der Arbeitsbelastung auf die menschliche Leistungsfähigkeit wurden viele wichtige Indikatoren für die Interpretation erarbeitet. Dazu wurden in den letzten Jahren verschiedene Methoden entwickelt und viele neue Möglichkeiten entwickelt. Heutzutage sind medizinische und andere Bereiche aller Art in der Lage, die Vorteile der Erkennung von psychischen Zuständen wie Erregung, Wachsamkeit, Müdigkeit, mentaler Belastung und deren Ursprung zu nutzen. Dies ist vor allem im Transportwesen von Bedeutung, da die Luftfahrt- und Automobilindustrie dem psychischen Zustand und den kognitiven Belastungen von Fahrzeugführern und Piloten mehr Aufmerksamkeit schenkt. Dies führt zur Verbesserung der eingesetzten Systeme in Bezug auf Benutzerfreundlichkeit, Informationswert, Messgenauigkeit sowie der verwendeten Algorithmen.
