Susan's father, Ray Lebel, played jazz horn, completed a career as an oral surgeon, and was a golf champion-winner of Maine State Amateur six times, holding the national record for the most club wins, and listed in Sports Illustrated as one of Maine's top athletes. When her first grandkids were born, Susan Lebel Young dreamed about what an awesome grandparent she would be.
