Biochemical profile of iron during the pregnancy-puerperal cycle

Anemia brings several consequences to maternal and child health, at different levels of severity, therefore, the maternal nutritional status has been the focus of studies, especially because its inadequacy has a determining role on the health of the pregnant woman and the conceptus. Thus, it is essential that the prenatal care team of women assess the nutritional status related to iron during the pregnancy-puerperal cycle and not only in the first trimester.
