Se determinó la composición y estructura del ensamble de aves presente en el bosque de Sierra Las Damas, para ello se utilizó el método estandarizado de muestreo por itinerario de censo con bandas transeptos. La comunidad de aves que se encuentra en el área de estudio está constituida por 52 especies, 44 géneros, 26 familias y 13 órdenes de la clase Aves. Del total nueve son endémicas, 18 migratorias invernales, cinco migratorias estivales y 39 crían en Cuba. De ellas, 49 son comunes y tres raras. Respecto a los gremios tróficos, predominan las especies granívoras. Las especies dominantes numéricas fueron Tomeguin de la Tierra y Bien-te-veo, que muestran explosiones postreproductivas en período lluvioso. La ornitocenosis asociada al bosque de Sierra Las Damas es estable e interesante, pues alcanza valores elevados para los indices ecológicos.

Este estudio informa sobre las especies de murciélagos registrados en dos zonas de manglar en el Parque Nacional Caguanes, Cuba. Las capturas de murciélagos se hicieron durante la estación lluviosa de 2016 y en la lluviosa y seca de 2017. El objetivo del estudio fue caracterizar la fauna de quirópteros en los manglares para estimar el papel que estos animales juegan en ese tipo de bosque. Los murciélagos fueron capturados mediante redes de niebla de 2.5 m de alto por 12 de largo. Se capturaron 594 individuos, pertenecientes a 19 especies. Las especies más abundantes fueron Artibeus jamaicensis, Brachyphylla nana y Nyctiellus lápidas, que abarcaron el 80.33% de las capturas.
