Mit dem vorhandenen Vokabular von Sprache wird die Erzählung immer wieder auf das bereits Bekannte zurückgeworfen. Dies ist so tragisch wie komisch und dennoch nicht ohne Hoffnung. In einer Zeit, in der alles auf dem Spiel zu stehen scheint, werden die Worte »Verweile doch, du bist so schön!« zu einer eindringlichen Anrufung an alles, was uns lieb ist.
