Tilman Allert, emeritierter Professor der Soziologie, Autor und Publizist, geht in seiner Deutung einem tragischen Vorfall in Friedrichs früher Kindheit nach - am 8. Dezember 1787 wird er, damals dreizehn Jahre alt, von seinem jüngeren Bruder beim gemeinsamen Schlittschuhlaufen vor dem Ertrinken gerettet, der dabei aber selbst sein Leben verliert.
