»Clash of Views in a Pluralist Society. Its Impact on Labour Relations«: Clash or divergence of views in a pluralist society is the starting point of our study. Principles proposed or advanced for a future European response to the indipendence of the Church as the latter pursues its own mission in a transparent manner with the adhesion of the its menbers to its ideals and the collaboration of employees who are previously aware and freely respect the underlying ethos motivating the religious institute and its apostolate. All are cooperating for the well-being of other people.

Die vorliegende Arbeit zeigt die unterschiedliche Trennung von Kirche und Staat in Österreich und in den USA anhand des Religionsunterrichts auf. Die Ursachen für die unterschiedlichen Rechtslagen werden dazu rechtshistorisch, rechtssoziologisch sowie rechtsdogmatisch betrachtet. Sie werden darüber hinaus einer vergleichenden Bewertung unterzogen und die jeweiligen Vor- und Nachteile (General- und Individualinteressen) gegeneinander abgewogen.Bekenntnisorientierter Religionsunterricht an öffentlichen Schulen, unter zumindest formaler Aufsicht des Staates, ist nach Ansicht des Autors grundsätzlich gerade in einer religiös-pluralistischen Gesellschaft sehr vorteilhaft. Dieser Unterricht sollte bekenntnisorientiert, aber auch religionsvergleichend sein, Staatskunde beinhalten und das Verhältnis von Kirche und Staat sowie das Verhältnis zu Andersgläubigen in Betracht ziehen.

»Interreligious Instruction in Schools: (Im)possible?«: The study addresses the question of whether and in what form the legal structure of denominational religious instruction in the Austrian school system enables the implementation of interreligious educational concepts. In addition, it is shown to what extent the Catholic concept of education in general and the tasks and goals ascribed by the Church to Catholic religious instruction in schools in particular are compatible with the basic idea of interreligious learning concepts.
