The history of Whitstable Castle. The Castle as it is now known has had many names - The Manor, The Towers, Tankerton Towers and finally Whitstable Castle - the name it acquired in 1934 when it became the offices of the Whitstable Urban District Council. It was built as a home, not a castle in the true sense of being a fortified structure in the style of Dover, Rochester, Leeds and others.
It is a building with a chequered past, linked to the industrial history and development of not only the town but the world.
This book looks at the lives, times and impact the owners had on the house, and on Whitstable, and is the result of a great deal of in-depth research.
