Checkmate

Checkmate is the story of Sofia, an Italian woman that lives with her father and grandmother. She is about to marry Nate, who is from a Jewish family she has known since childhood. She begins to question the story of her mother's death when she was an infant. The facts are not adding up. She begins a journey to discover the truth, only to uncover more lies. The road opens a Pandora's box of family secrets and an unexpected education about Hasidic life and customs. It is a story about choices, crossed boundaries, fear and judgments. It's also about love, and how love leads you back home.
