Über Cold Comfort
Fifteen years after riding away from Winkler, Wanda leaves her child with May Rose and returns to her mountain roots, widowed, penniless, and driven by thoughts of revenge. Her grandmother, ex-moonshiner Lucie Bosell, is the person she blames for her mother's wretched life and death.
Wanda's resolve to steal from her grandmother wavers when she falls for Will Herff, a compelling man from her past, who is single-handedly rebuilding the ruined town of Winkler. Will tries to warn her away from the Bosells, but Wanda is bent on making Lucie pay.
Reunited at the Bosells' mountain hideaway, Lucie and Wanda engage in a game of cat and mouse, Wanda scheming to find Lucie's treasure, and Lucie ordering her to create a dynasty of Bosells with the man she's chosen. When Lucie steals Wanda's gold coins, Wanda vows to get them back, and Lucie's treasure too.
Meanwhile, Lucie has grander plans. Prohibition has come to their state, making moonshine worth more than ever. Lucie intends to get back in the business, and she compels Wanda to help. Playing along, Wanda learns that her granny's high-stakes business attracts dangerous people, and revenge will be cold comfort.
When Wanda is thrust into grave danger, her mission becomes clear: she must reject her ideas of revenge and reward and find a way to return to her child. Only then will she be free to compete for the heart of the man she loves.

READERS ARE LOVING THE MOUNTAIN WOMEN SERIES:
FIVE STARS: "I really enjoyed reading this book. Loved reading about prohibition era moonshiners. Characters come to life in a West Virginia mountain setting. As I was reading Wanda came to life with a depth of character exhibiting a whole gamit of emotions and I loved the crusty grandma Lucy. Can't wait for the next book." -Goodreads Reviewer
FIVE STARS: "Again, [the author] has created characters and a setting that are captivating. You can tell [the author] did her research on stills and bootlegging in West Virginia in the early 1900s. Once you begin this book you won't want to put it down and you won't want it to end. Luckily, there is another to come!" -Goodreads Reviewer
FIVE STARS: "I am utterly captivated by this Author's style of writing! I just finished the second book in this series and it is the most unusual and fascinating story I've ever followed. I can't wait to read the third one, which I've already downloaded." -Goodreads Reviewer
