Competencies and challenges of Sexology

"There is a large segment of the population that does not know how to discriminate between the concepts of sex and sexuality. Sex is a biological condition that is not exclusively human, an ancestral impulse, an unconscious intelligence that moves, whether we want it or not, our destiny as a species. Sexuality is the result of its expression and evolution in the human species. It is, let us say, the ever-increasing complexity of the sexual fact. Or, if you will, the psychologization, socialization, culturization, creativization, artistification and also the artificialization, politicization and jurisdictionalization of sex. Sexuality is the impregnation of sex in the human personality and in its daily life. It is sex made mind and heart. And therefore, the creation of increasingly complex ways of sensing, feeling, thinking and expressing sex. The evolution of sex in man, of his sexuality, is the story of its evolution from its expression as an instinctive and procreative tool to an almost infinite variety of sexual possibilities.
